Re: EASPORTS Quick Clip Madden 12 Free Agent Bidding

i think it will be very flawed, the old system was too.

first you can't decide length of contract and second you can pretty much just outbid everyone at the end within a matter of seconds.

and I thought the computer teams were suppose to be smarter this year, signing guys for there system and not just 4 WR's or 4 CB's

From what I herd once you won the bid you should be able to adjust his contract. But I'm not totally sure right now. I will have to twitt Josh and ask him and see if he can confirm this. I will get back to you on this.

Unless the timer restarts everytime a bid is made then this will be a very flawed system. You'll just be able to poach the best guys once the timer comes down to a few seconds.

Somebody help me because I had no idea what was going on! LOL

Also, has it been explained yet, how this bidding system would work with multiple people playing a multi-user offline franchise on the same console? I figured the clock will probably stop whenever you exit the bidding screen but i think I read somewhere that once the bidding starts, you can't exit the bidding screen.

I plan on trying out League Manager this year for online franchise but me and two friends may run an offline dynasty together on this same console as well. Just curious to know.

Re: EASPORTS Quick Clip Madden 12 Free Agent Bidding

I agree...it has some flaws, but I think it'll still be better than what we had before. I guess it works the same was as HeadCoach did. First you win the bet, then you get to chose between various contract structures.

But it would make a lot more sense if the timer would reset each time a new offer has been made.

Maybe a limit on the number of offers you're allowed to make. Like 3 offers per players, or even better, 3 offers pending max at the same time, all positions.

It would force you to pass on some really good players that you don't need as much in order to secure the players you really need. This would make sense as GM in real life often focus on one player before they try to sign anyone else, and then have to settle for less talented players at a different position because the good players already have signed.

Also, I hope the CPU will be a lot more involved than what's shown in the video. The timer thing is a good addition, but it becomes overwhelming only if you have like 40+ offers to check. If there's only about 10, then there's no real sense of urgency in my opinion.

Eh? Since when to teams dictate to the players how long they are being signed for. Players have demands, teams meet them. or walk.

I see your point and it could be a bit problematic. I think in some instances there should be a mechanisim where if the player gets a deal beyond what he's looking for at a team he's highly interested in joining he should just do it....kind of like when an NCAA recruit just randomly commits.

Although, those prices got REALLY high and you won't have the space to sit there poaching all the top players, you'll run out of cap space in a quick hurry, then be stuck with fat contracts.

There's no way in hell I'd have paid Foxworth that kind of coin.

Agreed that this is an issue, but I guarantee you if it went the opposite way, with the CPU sliding in at the last second with no chance for the user to get in the bid, there would be some ticked off players (even if it was more challenging).

Really, I think if you don't like the system, just exercise restraint - either you don't bid more than you're comfortable with for a particular player, or you cut yourself off from putting in a bid after 10 seconds (which would let the CPU slide in if it so desires).

Not really a big deal, IMO, just can be exploited by a willing user like a lot of other areas in franchise.

Josh Looman has just confirmed to me that you can change the structure of the contract once you have won the bidding war.

Josh_Looman Josh Looman
@PantherBeast_OS You get to choose how to structure the contract.

Re: EASPORTS Quick Clip Madden 12 Free Agent Bidding

Two thoughts on this.

1. Even if you want to, you will not be able to get every player you want. With the timer you are going to miss out on people. Whether it is many or not, it is a step in the right direction.

2. They said they fixed the salary cap this year. This will be the most important thing. You cannot just go bidding everything you have for every big name player. You would not be able to afford it. So you will have to only get players you need.
