Re: Top 9 players - Position and Attribute rankings

Brees isn't an elite QB? now I know why I never come into this forum anymore.

He's had a good O-line yeah but for the better of his career in NO he's had no running game, just throw half of last year out the window due to his injury he just wasn't the same had nowhere near the arm due to the bum knee. Yeah sure he's had Colston at WR who turned out to be good, but the other guys he's worked with are only considered great because of what Brees has done with him.

Joe Montana, Troy Aikman, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Eli manning, go down the line, Rodgers had a better rating than all of them, thats being a wildcard team as well.
I had to look into this:

2010: Rodgers: 109.8
2009: Warner: 129.1, Rodgers: 121.4, Brees: 117.0
2008: Warner: 112.2
2002: Collins: 112.7
1995: Rodney Pete: 132.4
1994: Steve Young: 117.2, Dan Marino: 116.4
1993: Jeff Hostetler: 146.0
1992: Troy Aikman: 126.4
1990: Boomer Esiason: 113.3, Jim Kelly: 110.4
1989: Joe Montana: 146.4
1988: Joe Montana: 117.0
1986: Phil Simms: 131.8, Pat Ryan: 126.6
1982: Joe Theissman: 110.7
1981: Don Stock: 118.7
1975: Ken Anderson: 110.3
1966: Bart Starr: 135.6
1963: Tobin Rote: 145.3
1961: Bart Starr: 130.9
1960: George Blanda: 117.8
1959: Johnny Unitas: 114.7
1957: Tobin Rote: 117.2
1952: Norm Van Brocklin: 120.6
1943: Sid Luckman: 135.6
1933: Harry Newman: 118.1

As you can see, Rodgers is NOT hold the best QB rating for a complete playoffs.

Re: Top 9 players - Position and Attribute rankings

I am disappointed at Manning OVR. Look at the Receivers he played with for the majority of the season. By the end of the year Manning was throwing to no named guys. He put up 33 touchdowns and put up a respectable QB rating and completion percentage. Look at the guys around Peyton and tell me what other QB would have that good of a season with those guys

Is this really it? His receivers are too good to allow him to be considered "elite?"

Re: Top 9 players - Position and Attribute rankings

3 Redskins in the top 9 of their positions on defense... but none of them are named Brian Orakpo?!?!?! Did I miss this or is Donny going crazy? Also, may be a bit biased here, but Chris Cooley is easily a top 9 TE if not near a top 5.

Looking through all of this.... Donny, you need a break and a lot of help. Your ratings are sometimes a joke as harsh as that sounds.

You are wrong. Brees has good very good run game except for one year. In 06 McAllister had 1,057, 10 tds, 4.3 yrds per carry. In 07 Bush had 584 yards, 4 tds 3.7 per carry. In 08 Pierre Thomas 625 yards, 9 tds, 4.8 per carry. Also in 08 McAllister had 418 yards 5 tds, Bush had 404 yards with 2 tds. In 09 Thomas had 793 yards, 6 tds, 5.4 per carry, Mike Bell had 654 yards, 5 tds, 3.8 per carry. In 10 Chris Ivory had 716 yards, 5 tds, 5.2 per carry. The problem isn't NO "lack of run game", it's Brees turning the ball over way too much. I'm not buying the injury excuse, everybody is hurt at some point in the season. Manning had neck surgery for crying out loud and didn't saying anything!

Re: Top 9 players - Position and Attribute rankings

Hell, I don't think Roddy White is better than Larry Fitzgerald, especially given his accomplishments with his situation. That being said, all the top five players at their respected positions are only separated by a few points, nothing really to complain about.
