It's not that long so I 'll just post it

A new sim player rating system for Dynasty modes.

This is for Madden but really I would like it in every sports game. There is an option to hide player ratings poll to vote on if you would like this in the game.

Reasons for an option to hide player ratings:

You will no longer be able to depend on ratings to tell you how good a player is or will be.
Before you drafted a Qb in the first round and he was in the 60's with C potential he never saw the field and you probably cut him straight away.
Real life example of how it should be: It took 3 seasons for the Raiders to realise Jamarcus Russell was a bust.

So next year you draft a Qb in the first round again and he is in the 80's with A potential and even though you could throw 30 ints every year for his first 3 seasons you stick with him because you know he's good because that's what his rating says. You completly ignore how he's played because of a number.
Real life example of how it should be: After 3 seasons with Drew Bress the Chargers picked Eli Manning with the first pick who was traded for Phillip Rivers. They did this to replace Drew Bress who they didn't think was good enough to be a starting Nfl QB.
These things can't happen in Madden because you can see 50 different ratings aswell as a potential grade which makes the decisions for you so you can't make a mistake and if you do you know immediately so there's no real consequences.

Pre-Season: I presume 99% of people are the same as me. Sim it then check injuries. Maybe without ratings to tell you what to do you might at least have to check stats to see if your rookie can beat out an aging vet. Position battles are so the better player gets the job but were kind of pointless when you already knew. For me simply hidden ratings make pre-season matter again.

Scouting:
No ratings makes scouting so much more important.
At the moment it's only for rookies prospects and six weeks can get you some pretty random ratings on a player. It can tell you exactly how good that MLB is at tackling but nothing about his coverage skils. I doubt a MLB has every been drafted with no knowledge of his coverage skills. No ratings would force a better more realistic scouting system to be put in place. I would like to be able to see college stats and award history for prospects. Comments from scouts on their strengths, weaknesses, character, work ethic, etc...
Player scouting: The thing I hear against this system is how will we know who's good or not. Players ratings are based on how they play on Sunday so if you watch the Nfl, which if you are playing Madden is fairly likely, you should have a fair idea. This lets you use your Nfl knowledge. A player scouting system would be necessary also which would just be scouts comments not ratings.
Because you can no longer see ratings a weekly team report on the opposition would be good with things like.
Offense: Passing, Running
Defense: Passing, Running
Special Teams
Key players
Match ups
etc..........
With this report you could decide what to focus on in training during the week and create a gameplan for that game.

The Draft
: If a system like this was in place the draft in Madden would truly be an event. Putting in the work and thinking you found that franchise QB or shutdown CB would be very satisfying unless your wrong.

Players Value: With the overall rating gone a value bar to show how valuable a player is to your team would be useful. This is what trade logic would work off so contract status would affect it. It would change weekly on performance and one players value to one team would be different to anothers. Eli Manning would be valuable to the Giants but not the Colts.

I agree with Adembroski here and I think this is the way to achieve that. Pretty much every aspect of franchise mode would be improved by this. Ian and Phil have said several times they want to make the best simulation game. Phil said he wanted our big ideas for Madden12's new franchise mode. Well here it is Phil.

Tom Brady? Sorry, but there are many examples of players doing very well in a starting role when given the opportunity.

There are players that perform much worse when moving to a new team, and there are players that really find themselves after moving to a new team.

There are a lot of examples of GM's, coaches, scouts making mistakes in FA moves.

Have to point out that 57% say Yes, I would definitely use it and 15% say No, I would not want to see this in Madden where as the front page poll has 32% love gameflow while 35% hate it.

Over a hundred votes for YES.
Even on OS I thought this would only get small following. Truly a sim gaming community. Hope it's getting noticed.

If there were no ratings, you would actually do what the real coaches do- evaluate practices. That'd be kind of cool.

Yeah that's the main point of it. You would have to judge how good a guy is and not be just told by an overall rating.

Or have coaches and/or scouts and/or GM's give you reports on players.

Re: If there was an option to hide ratings would you be interested at all?

I mentioned this in a wishlist forum the other day.

Think it could add an useful aspect to pre season. By putting in certain players for a few series, it would unlock some of their ratings. Then after you have unlocked the ratings, they stay there. However they only stay as long as you keep your offensive co-ordinator or defensive co-ordinator based on whatever position they are. If you cut loose your Head coach then you should lose all your collected player ratings.

It could then expand into the coach ratings. The higher the rating, the more ratings they collect in a shorter space of time. E.g Bill Belichick would be able to collect alot of ratings after just 2 or 3 pre season games. Then if you wanted to find out more after pre season, you can scout them and get reports back.

To then take it even further, you could have something similar to NBA 2k franchise which I personally love, where you have points collected over the season for completing certain tasks. E.g win the superbowl = 75points, beat last seasons record = 10 points, win 5 games in a row = 20 points. These can then be spent on performing drills to focus on certain aspects of a players game, or use it to work on a particular thing in the off season to increase a certain aspect of a group of players. E.g. +5 ratings to all WR route running or +5 to all LB's tackling. The more player ratings you have, the more knowledgeable you are as to which aspect to focus on.

BOOM, Franchise mode just got some depth added to it.

I actually don't like that feature in Nba2k. I always find when I turn a bad franchise into a pretty good one then very quickly and easily turn into a great team and then the greatest because the better you are the more points you rack up. I am also not mad about the training drills. I turned D.Rose into a better defender than Rondo in a couple of seasons. Don't get me wrong dynasty mode in Nba2k is great but there's some things in it I wouldn't want to see in Madden.
