Ideas to make The Extra Point/ Halftime show better

The inclusion of them this year was great. However, EA needs to significantly polish for M11 or it is a missed opportunity. My ideas, some I have heard from others as well....

1) The highlights need to be linear. When watching post game highlights they should tell me the "story" of the game. It should not look like a random collection of mashed together highlights. Random 8 yard rushes followed up by a deep bomb in an incorrect order. They should be in sequence. They should include every score(except perhaps field goals, unless it is a game winner or impressive kick)Their should be a score overlay so you can follow the story of what is happening.

2. Commentary is a must. Not to be one of those "it was in 2k5" guys but......it was. It needs to be in Madden enough said.
This would add much to this aspect. Don't need anything intricate. Start small and add every year. Basics....... QB x passes to receiver Y and he takes it z yards down the sideline. etc

3. Highlights from around the league. Same deal as item 1 except from other action. Who doesn't love catching up at halftime on out of town scores. It would bring so much drama and excitement to the halftime show especially around or in playoff time. Again this should not be that hard. These are powerfull machines we have today..... their is no need to look at 2K5 because my Sega Genesis NHL 94 showed highlights of games in between periods .........SEGA GENESIS.

Thoughts? Ideas?

I'd like to see an easier way to exit the Halftime show. I'm sure most users like this feature but I'd rather move on to the 3rd quarter.

How about not having the chick state the "big discrepancy in the number of plays run" every damn time. Also, I feel like they always boast a stat for the loosing team, such as:
"The Jaguars were awful on 3rd down"
When I destroyed the other team 35-10.

allow me to press start to skip the whole thing, while X just skips the individual segments

have game sounds during highlight clips

don't have all the other games' Final scores while my Sun 1:00 game is at halftime

All very good points by jvaccaro. Not to mention that music during the highlights is ultra hookie.

I'd also like to see stats of MY game at halftime, and I'd also like for the scores from around the league to not be so high. I play 8 min qtrs, but get into halftime and the Giants vs Packers game is 40-28 at halftime. And this is for all the games.

I know some of you enjoy the "presentation" aspect of a halftime show, but I honestly just wish their was an option to TURN IT OFF! I watched it fully thru once, now I find myself continuously tapping the "A" button to get back to the game as quickly as possible. For me the Extra Point show adds absolutely nothing to the game. Sorry

Yeah, I agree with all of your ideas. I also agree that it is a wasted opportunity if they don't do more with this.

I had an idea that I posted in another thread. It was either in addition to or in place of the Extra Point, but it would be a week ending show like NFL PrimeTime used to be. Hell, use the partership with ESPN and get Berman and Jackson to do it. I think to do this really well, you need to change the way games are simmed. Instead of using a sim-engine, Madden 11 should sim the actual games (CPU vs CPU) really, really fast. Not like the totally bogus "super-sim" that gives you 65-58 pt games everytime - I might add. That way you would get realistic stats because the games are actually being played out and you could pull highlights directly from the game. I just can't believe they haven't changed the sim aspect to this mode already. That's EA, though... tons of potential with very little to show for it.

I do need to throw in here that gameplay is first and foremost... i.e fix that, then work on frills.

This is funny. For the past few years, most were saying "some kind" of halftime show was desperately needed. Now they have one, and it's "I wish I could turn it off completely".

Same with the chain gang----it's in, but what? Only two animations?? Take it out...

Lose/lose situation for EA. Glad I'm not in Ian's shoes, I don't think I could take this. Bust my arse for 12 months improving on Madden, only to have it torn down.

(It's no wonder he doesn't come around much anymore...)
