Question Is There a Work Around to Get Rid of Overlay Ads?

Is there any way to disable the overlay ads that are showing up during gameplay? The little box to the right that pops up from the score bar and overlays the field? i.e. Turning off your console (seems to work for a game per my testing thus far), going to dashboard, disconnecting from internet (if they are served via internet that is), or any other tricks? I just started playing Madden and it's very distracting for me.

Thanks for the help in advance!

The only true way to not have them is playing a game with no internet on. I wouldn't be surprised if in the future EA offers a DC that you can turn them off for a nominal fee. Which I wouldn't mind, but there are some on here that think Madden has already received more than enough money from the consumer. I for one actually likes being able to purchase additional content that I want in my game. The ads are there for EA to procure more money, so they can beef up the staff, and make a better game with the small timeline they have to make it in...

I don't want to get into the why it's there, or whether it's good or bad, or the thread might get closed. I just want to know how to avoid it so I don't have to view it when I play the game. Are you 100% sure that disabling internet will do it? If so, that means they are all internet based. Do you think just signing out of XBox Live will work, or do you have to pull the plug?

You have to start the game not connected to xbox live and you wont have ads. I haven't tested turning live back on after starting to see if they go away though.

Sweet. I'll give that a try. Much easier than unplugging the console. Thanks!

Re: Is There a Work Around to Get Rid of Overlay Ads?

Looks like they are being fed live. I think I figured it out. When you first fire up the game, there's a box that comes up that says it's connecting to EA Servers. When it appears you can hit the 'A' button to cancel. If you want to avoid the Ads, hit A.

When you are playing Franchise, at the main Franchise screen where it shows your next game, in the lower right hand corner below the Toggle Menu is where an Ad will be displayed. If no ad has been downloaded from the EA Server, then it will simply say 'EA Sports'. So far per my testing, I have not had an Ad show up if that shows EA Sports. Now, if it doesn't say 'EA Sports', but displays an Ad there, then you have a pretty high chance of that Ad being displayed in your game.

Still can't believe these overlay Ads are in the game, so annoying. Hope this helps others avoid the unwanted/unnecessary barrage of ad overlays in their Franchise game. Definitely help make for a more enjoyable experience for me by not having them displayed.
