Good luck resigning your FA's during the offseason. I find high draft picks aren't worth the money they'll want. If you scout well or use a cheat sheet you can find great players in the 2nd and 3d round and pay way less. You're going to need to re-sign Kirk Morrison and Chaz Schilens in your first offseason, PLUS sign your picks, and you've already got a penalty against your cap next year.

Update on my Panthers franchise.. I simmed all playoff games in year one and won the SB against the Patriots i think. In the offseason my aim was to draft a QB with my 1st round pick. I traded up a couple spots from pick 32 to pick 20 if im not mistaken and picked up a QB (madden generated - C potential, 76ovr, 85awr, 89thp, 80tha, 87 throw on the run, 84 playaction). He's actually a pretty good QB but his accuracy is way off on some throws. Picked up a nice WR in the 4th round (C potential, 92 spd, 97 agi, 95 acc, 72 carry, 73 catch. Best thing about him is his size. 6'3" 203lbs! Pefect complement to Steve Smith.

Also found out how easy it is to acquire players through trades. I couldnt find an OLB or a SS to replace Chris Haris so i tried doing some trades. The Chargers let Shawn Merriman go for a 2nd, 4th round picks AND THEN the Colts let me take Bob Sanders for a 1st and 3rd round draft picks! Was cheering when they accepted. I traded Chris Harris to the Browns for a 2nd and 5th round draft pick.

My defense looks awesome now with a couple good F/A signings -
LE E.Brown 80 ovr, C.Johnson 67 ovr
RE Julius Peppers 96 ovr
DT D.Lewis 77 ovr, M.Kemoeatu 75 ovr, L.Leonard 61 ovr (All ovr 90 strength)
LOLB T.Davis 88 ovr, P.Tinoisamoa 75 ovr F/A
MLB J.Beason 95 ovr, D.Connor 73 ovr (great sub when Beason tired)
ROLB S.Merriman 91 ovr, N.Diggs 67 ovr
CB C.Gamble 88 ovr, R.Marshall 80 ovr, C.Munnerlyn 74 ovr, P.Buchanon 72 ovr F/A, S.Routt 69 ovr F/A
FS C.Godfrey 78 ovr (this should be his breakout year), S.Martin 72 ovr
SS B.Sanders 94 ovr (4 FF in first 3 games for me!), P.Watkins 68 ovr F/A

With all those players on defense im hoping to be top 3 D at seasons end. Still struggling to stop the run. 1st game vs Cowboys couldnt stop Barber, 3rd game @ Steelers i couldnt stop Parker at all. He had like 3 or 4 runs of 20+ yards but Sanders made him fumble twice so thats what kept me in the game.

Currently 3-0 in year 2. Next game Panthers 3-0 @ Falcons 2-1

Cheesy move. Do you think the Colts would trade B. Sanders and do you think the Chargers would let go of S. Merriman in real life?

I can't blame you for that cheesy moves either 'coz CPU really doesn't make any good choice when it comes to handling their rosters and players.

with that D and a decent offense you should go at least 14-2 if not undefeated.

Currently 4-1 in my Rams chise. Lost a heartbreaker to the 3-1 Vikings. Quickly got down 24-0 in the first 11:00 of the 1st quarter. 24-0 after one. 24-13 at the half. 24-21 going into the 4th w/ball. Tied it with a field goal on the same drive that led into the 4th. Lost 38-24. Had so many chances and blew all of them in the 4th quarter. Didnt help that Bulger threw 3 picks in that quarter. Ended the game with 6 picks (turnovers) OUCH!! Actually, the wierd thing that ive never seen before is that AP ran me up and down the field all game, and in the 3rd quarter Collingsworth said that if AP can keep running the ball the way he is then my D was going to be tired in the 4th and thats exactly what they were.

Re: How's everyone's offline franchise going?

My offense is in good shape aswell but. DeAngelo Williams hasnt been in his best form but i cant not start him because he's so explosive and can break one for a TD from anywhere on the field at anytime. Then ive got Johnathan Stewart who progressed really well in the offseason and would be starting for any team but i dont wanna release him because he's just too good, too stong and very young. Here's my offense -

QB Graham Bangley 76 ovr, A.Smith 73 ovr F/A
RB D.Williams 93 ovr, J.Stewart 90 ovr, M.Goodson 76 ovr
FB B.Hoover 79 ovr, T.Fiammetta 77 ovr
WR Steve Smith 94 ovr, Q.Taylor 71 ovr ROOKIE, K.Moore 68 ovr, D.Jarrett 63 ovr
TE G.Barnidge 77 ovr (B potential, solid blocker), D.Rosario 70 ovr
LT J.Gross 95 ovr, G.Williams 70 ovr
LG T.Wharton 85 ovr, M.Bernadeau 73 ovr
C R.Kalil 87 ovr (good centre just not strong enough against guys like Casey Hampton)
RG D.Robinson 72 ovr (was my back up last year, couldnt find a good starter so he starts now and is going great. Been opening alot of holes for me)
RT J.Otah 90 ovr (nothing/no one gets through him), A.Watkins 66 ovr ROOKIE

Pass game is going ok so far but his accuracy is leading to picks. He's 6tds for 5ints. Run game isnt as good as last years rushing attack but its still early in the season. Really happy with my O-Line except for maybe at C.. Kalil does a good job against most teams but teams that have big NTs like Casey Hampton, Jay Ratliff, Pat Williams, Albert Haynesworth seem to go straight through him. His pass protection is perfect.

lol was a real cheesy mode but everyones happy. They got 2 draft picks each and i have 1 pick in the first 4 rounds. Usually its alot harder to get players of thier calibre but for some reason all it took was a couple draft picks.

Their are a lot of good LB's and Safeties with A potentials in the draft. The good thing is, you can draft them in the later rounds ( around 3rd-5th round ).

Yes. Thats why they drafted Larry English in the first round. Phillips is already signed for a few more years. Merriman hasnt been a dominant player since he juiced up.

I think Merriman hits FA and gets signed by the Pats or the 49ers. Just my prediction.

Re: How's everyone's offline franchise going?

Just lost to the Falcons 34-27.. Hard game! Was 20-17 Falcons up at halftime then on first possession of 2nd half i got a field to tie the game and felt good. THEN 2 td's to the Falcons and im down by 14. Got a td in 4th quarter to make the score 34-27 and thats all she wrote. Bob Sanders came up big when i needed him to with 2 crucial tackles short of the first down marker to make them punt. Got them to punt twice in 4th quarter but couldnt capitilize on one drive throwing a int and and Johnthan Stewart who hasnt fumbled a KR/PR in 16 games last season and 3 games this season, decided he'd choose now to fumble lol. Got the ball back with just over a minute left, sacked on 1st down, incomplete 2nd down, incomplete 3rd down, sacked on 4th down!

Michael Turner torched me today 29 carries 120 yards. Falcons DT Peria Jerry came up big against me today. he got a sack in the first quarter then 2 sacks in the final drive to finish the game with 6 tackles, 2 assisted, 4 tackles for loss, 3 sacks, 1 int returned for a td (was off a deflection) and even forced a fumble. Could not run on his side all game. He was the number 2 DT so he was marking up on Travelle Wharton and made him look like a girl.

First loss of the season...........
