Is Diving also messed up?

I've been noticing this for awhile now, but it really stood out the last game I played. It seems in past versions, the dive button may have been a bit overpowered. It seems like you could dive for like 5 yards in the past to get a tackle, sack, or whatever. In this game, there have been some times when I dove for a sack and it worked(although it looks tetarded to dive for a qb's feet and have him flip over you onto the ground). Other times when I dive, my players knees immediately get sucked to the ground and it looks like he slides on the gorund instead of diving...end result is I only "dive" for about a yard and take myself out of the play.

I do believe the devs. broke the dive, and I think they may have actually just been trying to tone it down, but as far as I can see, they broke it. Anyone else notice this? Even my girlfriend, who rarely watches football, couldm't believe how messed up the dive was when I showed her some replays.

The dive button IMO can be considered cheese now. It is an auto tackle/sack if you learn the timing. It makes the RBs do a "trip" animation that cant be broken and it can automatically sack the QB not letting him be able to throw the ball.

Glorious..I agree with your points. There are definitely times when I dive at the QB, he should be able to get rid of it, but the dive gets him. But have you noiticed when the dive sucks your knees into the ground? It usually happens when you dive at a back or reciever, but it can also happen when trying to get a sack.

Until they fix the "OMG I throwz the ballz .00002 sec before you sackz mez" routine the AI does, they need to leave it, imo.

And yeah, I've seen the various "kinds" of dives.

It looks even funnier diving for a ball on the ground. Sometimes he jumps on the ball and curls up with it. Other times he goes flying over it into the la la land and takes 5 seconds to get up (must have been a hard landing).

I think you are referring to when you mistime the dive tackle and it makes the animation where the player drops down to the ground and basically doesnt travel more then a yard forward?

After my first 2-3 games, I saw the potential for how easy it was to sack and tackle players. It didnt really have a big learning curve to learn the timing for it. I quickly outlawed it in my OF and havent looked back since.

I laughed at that. I think the worst QB is Romo because of that lightening release...He is the only QB I feel tempted(and I wont lie...I do it sometimes to make me feel better) to dive tackle at lol

Re: Is Diving also messed up?

So is it giving me that animation when I am diving too early? Or too late? In any case, that is Madden lameness at it's best. You should be diving the same distance every time if noone is in front of you to stop your progression. I find it stupid that they put in some invisible rule: "if you don't dive when we feel like is the right time, your player will get sucked into the ground in a fake, ugly animation that has never been seen in a real game of football".

So you are saying you can actually get sacks WITHOUT diving? Wow..I think 95% of all my sacks are from a dive. I don't consider using it cheesy, because I dive with an open path to the QB. If they didn't have robo QB, I would hit stick into him, but every time I try that(or even just running into him) I get the, you guessed it, lame duck animation. Like I said though, it makes no sense to see a DE, with noone around him, attempt a dive only to be sucked into the ground. Kind of pathetic actually.

I average about 2-3 sacks a game. I used the Ravens defensive playbook. They have a formation in the nickel set, called Odd set(I think is its name) It lines the FS over the middle and drops the SS into the box. It also subs in another safety(can be changed to CB by yourself) with 3 LBs and 3 DL. It has some amazing coverages that force the CPU QB to hold onto the ball if you have good coverage LBs and safties. I havent tested this defense against a Brady, Manning, or Brees but it works very well on average to above average QBs.

And yeah...The dive tackle animation is overall lame lol I laugh when I see someone who is moving at 20+ MPH just sink into the ground as they try and dive tackle someone. Anyone moving that speed will easily keep moving 5+ yards in the air and sliding on the ground.

Re: Is Diving also messed up?

I'm getting about the same, but they all seem to come from Docket on the LE, and I almost always have to dive to get them. I will have to check out that nickel set, hopefully it can make this a non-issue.
At least i'm not the only one to notice this.
