EXPANSION TEAM

so since there's no way in franchise mode to do this, however it would be a cool feature .

i guess my question 2 you is how many players or what players do you think would be up for grabs from each team ?

is it
2 qb, 4 wr, 2 dt etc .. or is it each team is allowed to protect x number of [players

this would be much appreciated thanks

also if theres anything im missing on this subject lie me know.

Re: EXPANSION TEAM

Don't really understand the question..But you can create a team, and put it into the franchise. Fill it with FA's or do a fantasy draft. You can't start a game unless you have the correct number of starters or back ups I believe.

What happens to the players of the team you replace? For example, if you replace your created team for the Lions, do Matthew Stafford and Calvin Johnson go to the free agent bin?

Re: EXPANSION TEAM

I may be wrong but I think you were looking for rules to go by for picking players for an expansion team. Here's the rules the NFL used for the 2002 Texans Expansion Draft.

Each NFL team listed five players that the Texans could select and the Texans were required to claim either 30 players or $27.2 million in contracts.

Existing teams were not allowed to put punters or kickers on the list, nor any player from their 2001 roster who would have become an unrestricted free agent in 2002. They could not list players who went on injured reserve during the 2001 summer's training camp nor any player who would become a restricted free agent after the 2001 season. Their list could include only one player with more than 10 years' experience.

Re: EXPANSION TEAM

If I remember right, haven't made a team sense madden 08, the team you drop, those players become FA's. Don't quote me.

Re: EXPANSION TEAM

The team you replace i.e. Detroit Lions will have all of their players dissapear. Therefore, Calvin Johnson Jr., Matthew Stafford, etc. will not be in your franchise.

Re: EXPANSION TEAM

thanks woods that what i was looking for
but really only 5 players from each thats going to be hard to figure what teams would let certan "key " positions go...of the top of my head im guessing the browns would let anderson go with his big contract and quinnn being there man, dont think ill take him big price to pay...

and yes the team i replace there players will go to fa..im thinking the bills or ..sehawks ," (lots of old players )maybe the rams, im also thinking of allowing myself 1 or 2 players from the team that i will replace

this is were it gets complicated i have to release the players i want to fa then take say the bills release and sign the fa that will be on my created team so that the bills and my created team mirror each other

I don't like that.

I wish it had a real expansion mode, but 33 teams is lame so I don't know of a good possible solution.

Re: EXPANSION TEAM

Players just simply disappear from the game when you create a team and replace your created team with a real team. For example, if you were to create a team and you replaced the team for the Cleveland Browns then the entire Cleveland Browns roster would be removed from your franchise.

Anyway, kinda on the same subject, I think it would be a great idea to have expansion teams in your franchise. And use the same rules(as stated above by another poster)that they use in real life for expansion teams. That'd be awesome.

Re: EXPANSION TEAM

im doing a "sim" expansion chise right now and had to figure it all out and work around everything since they dont have the exp. team feature.

If you replace a team, all of the replaced teams players are totally gone from the game. What you have to do is edit rosters b4 chise and cut all players from team to be replaced and then sign scrubs to that team. This actually helps because you wont ever have to see some of those scrubs (30 OVR) that will never play anyway and theyll be deleted from the game with the replaced team.

If you replace a team with a created team though im pretty sure you still get the original replaced teams weather. So after season 1 of your chise youll wanna relocate and just go to city you made your created team for. Ex. I replaced the rams and my created team was Las Vegas Vipers. But, it was 40 degrees in 4 game so I relocated after season 1 which got me approval to build, etc but really didnt move me til end of season 2. Anyway, weather is more realistic now. But Im not sure you can move just anywhere. It has a list when you try to relocate and i think you have to go to a city with a good desire for a team.

For an expansion team I chose a couple average players, older vets from teams and put them on the team to be replaced by my created team after I cut their players. Once team was pretty full (some players from scrub FA's can be on your team still) I wrote them down so I could draft them in fantasy draft for my created team. DO NOT write down and draft the scrub players from free agent pool. Let them dissapear. Also DO NOT draft anyone not on your list or they will be 2 of them in game in your chise, (R.moss could be on your team and still will be on N.E.)

Since the last real expansion was in 2003 or whatever I looked at the rules from when the Texans did it and followed them pretty close. I had to draft 35 players or 40 mill in cap or something close to that. I couldnt take more than 3 players from a team, only 1 player per team i took from could be over 30 years old and i wasnt grabbing guys that were 90+ OVR. My team sucked the 1st year like it should for an expansion team. In yr 3 i went 7-9 and yr 4 will finaly break even atleast and maybe well make the playoffs.

Hope that helps. Do a search of expansion team because I posted in a couple different threads about this.
