Old School Football gamers

I posted this question in one of the NCAA threads and no one knew the answer.. I do know the answer to the question just wanted to see if any of the people that are complaining about Madden already, knew what us old guys used to play with

So Who can tell me the name of the football game where you had one WR how would run like 5 yards down field and go back and fourth and i was alomost impossible to to get a pass to them.. ?? anyone??

Mods if your going to close this can you wait a bit to see if anyone knows the name of the Game.. please!! Thanks!!

Thats it Ten Yard Fight!!! what a game that was!! the good ole days ,4 games, no stats , no names, no numbers, and the greatest route running WR ever!!! I would love to put some of theses kids in front of that game and see then complain again about Madden or NCAA, Kids today are to spoiled!! I think EA should bring back the 4 plays Playbook from Tecmo!!!

Re: Old School Football gamers

Its definitly 10 Yard Fight. The defensive line would pick off 7-10 passes, unless you rolled out and had an open line of sight, which took about 30 seconds to roll out of the 'pocket'.

It was a truly awful game. Thank GOD for Tecmobowl.

Re: Old School Football gamers

here is my first Football game (Atari 2600)

and a year or so later Intellivision

AND I LOVED IT!

so compared to the evolution from this, all of the complaining about M10 is ridiculous

Remember the hand held games where your guys were just little red dashes. Then they came out with that 2 player hand held I think it was called "head to head" or something like that.

What about the one where you had 3 linemen and they all moved together at the same time. I think it was colecovision or intelivision or maybe Atari. Forget which one. Or the baseball game on the same systems where if hit it over 2nd base it was a Home Run every time

Nothing eased the monotony of errand running back in the day quite like handhelds:

Re: Old School Football gamers

Did anyone ever play that football game for the colecovision that had that big controller with all the colored buttons ? I think you could only really use that controller for the football game and the rocky boxing game.

I think back on all the systems I have owned and think man we have come a LONG way.

Remember when all your games were "cartridges" ? I think back to those also and they were actually better. You could leave em any where, beat on em and still play the thing. If it didnt work all you had to do is blow into it, LOL. Like magic it would work again.

Back then games were anywhere from $15-30 brand new.

I remember the first time I brought tecmo bowl home for the nes. I walked all the way to then "WAXIE-MAXIES" to buy that game and walked back home. Games that make you feel that way about em are rare now.

OT but you reminded me of when NHL Hockey came out for the NES. I remember picking it up after work and seeing some friends on the way home. We went to my house and played for like 6 hours with 1 controller. We just kept taking turns playing a period at a time VS. the CPU
