I understand what you are saying, but I do remember 08, the videos didn't show a propensity of fumbles and a lack of fatigue.

That didn't show up until we had the game in our hands. So, yes, there is some things that aren't in the videos that do show up in the game once it's in our hands.

I know they patched the fatigue issue, but it wasn't until November.

What I really focus on in a video , because no matter what it is going to be the same when you do play the game yourself is the Animations, and the flow of the game.

Anything else you wont fully discover till the game is released, and that is the A.I , features and, flaws of the game, and we know they are not going to shwocase that .

I'm already prepared for a game that doesn't possess solid animations , momentum , and physics, but I want to see everything else. If the A.I is on point along with game play options and features. I will be fine. I also will have the PS2 version for the animations part of it .

I have myself covered.

So I guess it is safe to say that this engine is very tough to produce solid animations , momentum , and physics.

If Simon was the man on last gen , then came over to next gen. I have to say the guys is solid, and the engine is the problem.

It is a shame that he left the forum do to some immature abuse. Defintely cant blame him.

I wish he could answer this for me.
Actually he wasn't the animator for last-gen. He came to Tiburon after directing the animation for NBA Street Homecourt, and that game was based on an animation engine that he co-designed. So the dude has some serious skill, and yes I think it might mean that the Madden animation engine is in a busted state or much more difficult to work with.

Thank you for the brakedown, so he possess some skills. I never really played NBA street Homecourt so I can't say.

I'll look at some videos, and maybe if the animations in NBA Homecourt are solid, then why not use that engine for Madden so he can truly deliver in the animations dept.

I'm glad we both agree the engine for this Madden isn't friendly for animations.

Again thank you.

Ok I saw some videos on his work. It not bad at all, but can be smoother.

Let me see if I can download a demo to truly see the animations, since videos can be choppy and mislead you on the animations.

If this is not the case then I think the person who is in charge or did last gen madden animations should be the person doing next gen. Then we can truly learn if it is the engine or animator.

Oh the animations are great in that game. Here are some quotes from reviews of the game when it came out in 2007.
Quote:
Yet it's the animations that really sell the "next-gen" vibe; whether you're simply dribbling down the court or performing a breakdance-esque shake-n-bake, player's movements are silky smooth.
Quote:
The animation system is just about flawless as tricks and combos blend easily together.
Quote:
player animation is smooth and realistic
Quote:
With superb animations, a unique color filter for each court, and excellent player models, the game is real easy on the eyes.
Quote:
The new system is a snap to use, thanks to tremendously smooth animations and a wide variety of tricks.
Quote:
Framerate and animations are top-notch
Quote:
this game features great texturing, character models, and jaw-droppingly smooth animations
Quote:
The character models; the detailed courts; the lighting; the animation; they’re all spectacular.

Re: More Physics Issues Madden 10 vid vs NFL 2K5

I don't understand why everyone goes into panic mode when Apex makes a video and points out the stuff that we already know. He actually already made a video on this except this time he compared it to ESPN NFL 2k5. Ian has already gave an explanation for the "Tron Jogging" (A word coined by Apex) and many other things were addressed, but of course everything won't be. When I go to Youtube, the bulk of the criticism of Madden 10 is from people who have watched Apex's videos. I never heard "Tron Jogging" so many times. It's not fair to discredit the Madden team after adding nearly 90% of our wishlists for Madden 10. When you make a video and say that the physics are off, don't buy this game, you're ignoring ALL of the other improvements to the game and leaving the realm of constructive criticism. It doesn't matter whether the Madden team is completely new or if there were just a few people that joined the team. It's hard to say that the Madden team has done an excellent job this year because I haven't played the game yet, but I will NOT discredit their hard work. Lets look at SOME of the game play enhancements for Madden 10.
1. The game speed was slowed down
2. The DLine will tip passes making QB height a factor
3. The running animations are improved over Madden 09
4. Realistic pockets via Pro-Tak
5. Adaptive AI
6. Signature throwing and kicking styles for quarterbacks and kickers
7. Stretched out player ratings so that the elite players will stand
out from the mediocre/average.
8. QB avoidance to evade the pass rush
9. Fumble pile-ups via Pro-Tak
10. Gang tackles via Pro-Tak (up to 9 people)
There is a lot of things left out on this list so if someone would like to add more, feel free. If someone made a list of game play enhancements that were not in Madden 10 it will be far less than what made it in.

thmst30 ,

I couldn't find a demo but after seeing all those quotes, I'm convinced the guys is solid, and this engine for Madden is the problem.

Thanks a ton for all this feedback. It was very cool of you.

Take care Buddy.

Re: More Physics Issues Madden 10 vid vs NFL 2K5

What i don't get is this is the 16th video he has done on this subject yet its already been said they had to tune back the momentum because it broke the AI, we had true momentum on cd day but it ruined a lot of pursuit angles by the cpu causing a lot of big runs. They have already noted that this is a top priority for 11.
