The only changes I made were changing Greg Ellis from a 3-4 LOLB, to a 4-3 LE, since I knew that happened since the launch roster was made. Also, I know the Ravens and Cardinals play pretty hybrid type defenses, but I categorized each a 3-4 just for the sake of practicality.

Darnell Docket isn't playing the Nose Tackle in the 3-4 for the Cardinals because he is undersized for an NT and that's a waste of his athleticism and his penetration abilities.

Darnell will most likely play one of the ends in the 3-4 then the Nose

The 40 yard dash is a miss leading figure because it doesnt always equal a great football player (just tell that to the Raiders and Al Davis).

The combine is good in the fact that there are many change in direction drills and receiving drills and other drills that correlate directly to football. not just running straight for 40 yards and jumping and bench pressing.

If you look at the pro days and the combine drills of Beanie wells and Moreno and Leonard you will see a noticeable difference in the cuts and the balance of the RB's. You will see Wells and Moreno with quicker cuts and more balance and more foot speed than Leonard.

Re: All Ratings Talk Here Per Millennium

Is it just me or does it seem like 3-4 DEs are a joke compared to 4-3 DEs?

I guess I am just a little concerned about running a 3-4 Defense with such poorly rated players on the line (for the most part).

I know it is primarily a LB oriented scheme from a blitzing perspective but it just makes me wonder why anyone would roll with a team that depends on such low rated DLinemen when compared to 4-3 teams.

Re: All Ratings Talk Here Per Millennium

I just finished re-watching the Raiders 08 season this week (NFL Sunday Ticket Shortcuts rock). I disagree with every point you made save JaMarcus & the WRs.

But how do players like Michael Huff drop 6 points in SPD from this time last year? Because Huff hasn't lived up to expectations @ S, did he all of a sudden lose his 4.36 40 speed in the (athletic) prime of his career? They dropped his AWR 5 points. Cool. He's dropping sure INTs, his CTCH drops 18. Cool. Play Recognition, -10. Cool. But SPD? I know I read that they're stretching out the ratings to separate the "elite" players, so does SPD make you elite?

But I'm not crying, until the Raiders win more than 5 games in a season, this is how EA will rate their players.

2. Lorenzo Neal. Too high in my opinion. Is he a great FB? Yes. Is he a 91? I don't think so at his age, but I hope he performs well.

3. Derrick Burgess - 87. Wayyyy to high. This guy is a bum who can't play the run at all, and missed just about the entire season last year with a strained tricep.

4. Zach Miller = Perfect

5. O-Line - Gallery is a little low, as he's been playing at a near Pro Bowl level (according to the media) since his switch to LG. Also, Cooper Carlisle is a little high.

6. RBs - DMac is a little low, but he didn't perform last year, so I guess it's fair. Fargas is too high at 79. Most people in Oakland agree he's a bum with a low YPC and needs to be traded. I also think that Michael Bush is a little low at 75, but I can deal.

7. Trevor Scott - 64. Way too low considering he led all rookies in sacks last year. I guess I wouldn't be too upset if he didn't have more sacks in less than a 1/3 of the snaps that Chris Long (82) did.

8. WR - Johnnie Lee Higgins and Chaz Schilens are too low IMO. Do I think that they should be in the high 70s? Not at all. But I do feel that Chaz at a 64 and Johnnie at a 69 are way to low for these guys. They were the two best receivers on a weak Oakland squad last year. I know they aren't great, but that's a little disrespectful.

9. Tommy Kelly - Too high at 80. What did he do last year? Nothing. He got a big contract and hasn't performed since.

Re: All Ratings Talk Here Per Millennium

So if I can interpret what you said, the fact that Heyward-Bey ran a 4.3 40 at the combine was only part of the equation of giving him a 97? What were the other factors? And it's not about Huff/Raiders whatever, I've read in this thread and this comment by you that there's some well-known "football speed" equation that I've missed the past 20 years. Can u tell me what it is then? He was a 93 since his rookie season on Madden. Now he's a 87. You can be fast and still suck.

Re: All Ratings Talk Here Per Millennium

I just saw this tweet on the forum. Any more info on this? How is SPD determined?

40 time does not equal madden SPD rating

You disagree with everything? So pretty much you think that all the Raiders should be rated higher. I can actually step back and realize that the Raiders are not good. Some players did get ranked a little high. You honestly can't sit there and say that Burgess deserves an 87 or that Tommy Kelly deserves an 80. They were bums last year.

Re: All Ratings Talk Here Per Millennium

i know that 99 thp means that the qb can throw really deep, but does it also mean that the qb can just ZIP it in tight spots really quickly?

First off, how do I think that all the Raiders should be rated higher when u stated that you think some should be higher and I disagreed? Anyway, I actually misread a couple of things you wrote as I was preoccupied with the speed topic. So I actually agree with you more than disagree. Plus, there aren't many Raider fans so we need to stick together, lol. I'll first go a bit more in depth on what you just mentioned then hit the others quickly below.

Burgess was rated a 92 last year, played in 10 games, some of which he was hurt or didn't play the whole game. He got dropped 5 points. He's a 2x Pro Bowler that deserves the benefit of the doubt. If continues to play below this level, I'm sure EA will drop him more as they should.

Tommy Kelly was overrated last year at a 91 because he got a big contract. He played to his actually level last year which is an 80. He got dropped 11 points.

Keep in mind that from my perspective, individual ratings mean much more than the OVR:

He's a specialist. He can't catch or run. He's slow. If he's in the game, its for one purpose, to bulldoze the opponent, and the run blocking attributes reflect this.

I think they're just right, again look at the individual ratings for the Raiders OLine. They're better run blocking than pass blocking which I feel is accurate.

DMac & Bush by no means sucked last year. They both had 4.4 ypc averages albeit with limited attempts. So no argument there. However, I disagree about Fargas. He rushed for 853 yards last year with a 3.9 average while missing 2 and a half games due to injury.

I can see how he can have more SPD,AGL, and ACC, all of which dropped from the final roster of last year, but until he plays more snaps and does it again this year, I'm not too mad.

I agree on potential for Chaz, but bottom line he only had 15 catches last year. I REALLY like this kid, and hope he starts next to the rookie. I expect by mid-season the Raiders will be a very fun team to use on O.
