Even so QB is the hardest position on the field. Even a year off will affect all QBs in a negative way because he'll have to get used to the speed of the defense again and the timing of his passes. I think he should start out at around 95 or 96 tops with a little decrease in awarness then as the season goes on and he gets back into things bump his ratings up.

there are also alot of instances where qb's come back from injury alot fresher and better then before.

Re: All Ratings Talk Here Per Millennium

Maybe its my bias, but I feel Jacobs should be one of the top 10 backs. Barber is definately overrated. Is he a beast? No doubt. But he averaged 3.8 ypc last year with 9 touchdowns. Yes, he was injured, but Jacobs played hurt as well. Jacobs averaged 5.0 ypc and 15 touchdowns. Barber has NEVER averaged more than 4.8 ypc, nor ever broke 1,000 yards rushing. Jacobs did BOTH last year. Thoughts?

Edit: Here are the top 10 backs in Madden 10.

Running Back
(Name, Team, Overall Rating)
1 Adrian Peterson -- Minnesota -- 98
2 Brian Westbrook -- Philadelphia -- 97
3 Michael Turner -- Atlanta -- 95
DeAngelo Williams -- Carolina -- 95
5 Clinton Portis -- Washington -- 94
LaDanian Tomlinson -- San Diego -- 94
7 Steven Jackson -- St. Louis -- 93
Frank Gore -- San Francisco -- 93
9 Maurice Jones-Drew -- Jacksonville -- 92
10 Marion Barber -- Dallas -- 91

Also, even though I hate the Eagles (I'm a Giant fan in the Philly area), I live 10 minutes from Villanova and as such I do like Brian Westbrook. But a 97?! Come on! I say 94. And please don't give him 96+ speed. His long speed is nothing great, I would give him 90 speed. His ACC should be 99, however.

Re: All Ratings Talk Here Per Millennium

you guys know that you throw with your whole body, not just your arm right?

brady's knee will matter, if its his plant leg then setting up will be awkward, if its his forward (left) leg then shifting his weight and getting some mustard on the ball may be problematic.

I don't have a problem with the RB ratings, although personally I would swap Turner & Westbrook..

I would agree with you, Barber is pretty overrated and I 100% think Jacobs is the better "runner", Barber actually has been pretty good receiving and both are good in protection. Barber needs to be more elusive sometimes instead of always getting his knees cut out.

ian_cummings@DTown1 what should they be? Post in OS for discussion...

How many people agree that D. Hall was always over rated to begin with? I mean he is okay against average WR's but when up against anyone above average he is burnt toast!
He seemed to be even worst last season then ever before so a rating drop was needed but 77 OVR? More like 72... Just my thoughts.
As for Tom Brady! OMG that is INSANE! He hasn't played in a year! He had multiple surgeries! We don't even know if he is fully recovered but he only drops 1 point? Does anyone remember what happen to McNabb after his knee surgerie? It took him 2 years just to look half decent again!
Also I am a HUGE! NCAA fan and this is THE WORST draft class I have ever seen and yet these guys are given elite status right off the bat!?!? Even the guys on my team! They don't deserve that status!
And this is sim? I think not! Drop everyone from this draft 10-5 OVR, Drop Brady and anyone else that sat out ALL SEASON 10-5 OVR and then you can call this a sim without me breaking into laughter because to have us believe the worst draft class EVER will come in and play like elite players is outrageous. To have us beleive players can comeback from MULTIPLE surgeries and no game time in a full year and still be elite is OUTRAGEOUS!
Tom Brady suffered a busted knee. Not shoulder, not neck, not wrist. What I am getting at is that it shouldn't change much on Brady apart from speed and agility etc. even then he could have recovered 100%. They should keep the same ratings and if he shows signs he has gotten worse from the injury, then you can start changing his stats.

Over the years he has earned the high rating he deserves and until his high level of play drops, he should keep it.

Calvin Johnson played on the worst team in NFL history and still had a Pro-Bowl type season. He should atleast be 95.

I'm glad ratings mean more too, but I can see why people nitpick the ratings. I guess it's not so much what they are rating, but where they are rated, meaning is Brady rated higher than Manning or Mcnabb...
