Re: How close is Madden to team play?

Fifa works flawlessly 11 on 11. No lag.

It works better if the person you play is within your country. Its definitely possible for 11 on 11 madden in the future.

There just needs to be a points system to see if people are playing properly like in FIFA. If you run out of position, don't pass the ball, lose the ball, you lose points.

If you do a good pass, stay in position, you gain points.

This way , people won't be stupid and such.

FIFA has done this really well. People dont do stupid stuff online most of the time. Of course there are renegades that just hog.

11 on 11 is definitely possible. They just need to penalize cheaters and lamers. Right now they don't penalize people for dcing, cheating, glitching cheesing, so i unno if they're willing to change.

Not for me. Only about 1 in 10 games do i feel ANY LAG WHAT SO EVER.

Normally, its just like playing the cpu. There's no button lag for me.

I think a large part is distance from your opponent. And the connection speed of your opponent.

9 out of 10 games i experience 0 lag. Although i have experienced games with lag.

BAP online with Madden is certainly possible. Maybe not 11 on 11 but 5 on 5 is very possible.

You could pick a position on O, D and ST, like QB SS and K, or ANY ANY P. There are a plethora of possibilities not yet explored.

I could see 6 on 6 in Madden within this console generation (all OFF except OL and 6 DEF positions of choice). Beyond that, the gameplay just isn't ready to handle that many dynamic players on the field in my opinion.

I think we'll see something like NHL09's "Be A Pro" mode by the middle of the next generation of consoles.

Well when ever we do BAP with all of us in Australia theres definatly button lag... maybe you get lucky. But its not like we are spread around the world...

You would have to pass before youg et the ball and shoot a couple seconds before you really want to in able to do it..

Ian, I hope your not wasting precious developement time on this feature. Although there are a few here who would like to see this feature and it works for soccer and hockey I just don't see it working for football (IMO). Put your resources into Gameplay, Presention and Offlne/Online leagues/Franchises.

Re: How close is Madden to team play?

I don't know how many people would want to play as OL or players that generally don't get much time with the ball on offense. I don't think 11 on 11 games will be very popular. I think the reason NHLs team play is so successful is because every position is involved enough that people will play those positions and you can pull off 6 on 6 games where everyone, or at least majority of the community will enjoy it.

But to awnser the question, I think it's doable because we have superstar mode after all. I don't think it's something that should be focued on currently though because I don't think I can see myself playing this game mode all that much compare to the basic 1 on 1 versus online games. Football is a sport where the QB and RB may primarily dominate the ball. WR's may not get it that much, and of course linemen won't get it at all barring a fumble. Because the ball isn't going to be in all players hand that often, I don't think it will be popular enough, at least currently, to be bother to try to get the game mode in anytime soon. So I don't think we are that close.

Re: How close is Madden to team play?

It doesn't have to be 11 on 11. How about 3 on 3 or 4 v 4. Just playing skill positions on offense, and anywhere on defense.

You'd have the ability to change players, or stick with the same one player.

Re: How close is Madden to team play?

I really look forward to this, but it would have to be done a bit differently than other games. There are not going to be a ton of people volunteering to play offensive line positions, and man coverage is hard as **** manually.

The game would have to be slower, there would have to be a lot more to do with the line play. I could see 7 on 7, maybe, with the offensive line and secondary positions computer controlled... but that takes a lot of away from the all-human feel that other Be a Pro modes have.

Also, who's gonna wanna sit and watch a game for 30 minutes just to come out and kick a damn field goal?

If it were to happen, I'd love to see 'em go in and basically copy Goalline Blitz feature for feature for the EAFL... a system that would reward loyal competitors, a system that requires payment from owners (that wont be popular, but if you think about it, there has to be a way to ensure owners are invested in the game).

Anyways, I'd personally just like to see online franchise worked out first, as far as online features. I don't see 'em being able to implement both in one year.

EA football games have the worst lag, out of any. with 22 connections on the field doing free will it would be a laggy mess
