Any hope of 3d grass returning in 2010?

The grass in madden 07 looked really good. just wondering if that might come back in 2010 or the near future.

Can you post a picture of the grass from '07, and then a pic from '09 so I can see the two together?

Here you go man.. and now that I think about it.. Madden 07 was a beautiful game, I think if you combine Madden 09's player models, FPS, and gameplay with Madden 07's graphics.. we have a crazy game, because I still find myself drooling at 07's graphics

It seems to me that the grass in '09 is better, those 3D blades of grass appear to be missing a dimension (they don't have height). The color of that grass is better than '09, but the rubber band like stretching is a very bad look for a next gen game that is trying to replicate natural or artifical grass.

Again, I agree that the texture & the color look great. However, that rubber band look kills it.

Yeah on a second look at it I see what you mean.. I think maybe if they just had blades of grass pointing up maybe an inch it would look great.. but I just want the weird grass from 09 gone, it looks very strange sometimes

We will never see the type of detail we got in 06 and 07 again UNLESS they go back to 30 frames.

Personally, I couldn't care less about 60 frames and would welcome the return to 30 because quite frankly I think the animation system since 08 has reached a smooth enough feel on it's own that it would work fine at 30, and it might actually feel better because the animations in this game at the moment do feel a bit too loose.

I don't know how much of this would require some tough (extra) coding, but I wish we could choose between 30 and 60 frames... so we could have lots of detail at 30 for those who crave it, and less at 60 for those who don't. I've had a few computer games that allowed me to do that, so I wonder if this could be done with Madden.

Overall, I just don't feel like the benefits of 60 frames has ever made a dramatic impact to Madden. The problem with 06 and 07 was that the animation system (while producing some nice-looking animations) itself was clunky and heavy.

i was going to post a thread about this but i thought it would get deleted. i totally agree the grass in 2010 needs to be like actuall football field grass on the ps3 madden 09s grass effects looked like they were playing on a sidewalk and some artist painted it to look like grass. they need to make a more realistic grass.
