Re: Early look / prototype

Wow, I go on vacation and miss this epic thread!!! Great stuff going on here as I see progress is being made (especially liked the idea for two different spins based on the size of the back).

In my humble opinion, the spin has been the Achilles heel of many EA Sports games for years unfortunately. Let me give some examples:

1. The spin move in most of EA Sports game's has been too effective. In NBA Live, a player would step so widely and cover so much ground while being unable to be stripped that the spin basically ruined the game. All with the simple press of up on the right stick. It was such a problem that they removed it from the game.

2. The ground covered issue is a problem in Madden as well. One issue with the spin move is that your player actually speeds up instead of slowing down upon executing the move. This issue was somewhat better in 09, but I still felt myself spinning for speed even in 09 at times. Please fix this.

3. Spins should be contextual, your player should spin off of a player instead of a short invincibility period because the player pushed the spin button. Madden 09 made great strides in this area, maybe all that needs to be fixed is a players spin while not engaged, speed adjustments, and the animation fixes being discussed.

And now to that other game... The contextual spins and how the defenders reacted to them were amazing. Non engaged spins did not give you a speed burst and it seemed like players had different types of spins.

Great work Ian, keep at it!!!!

Re: Early look / prototype

Ian, can you guys make buttons more responsive.

Example: When I press the strip button, I want to strip him or at least attempt to strip him, I don't want some other animations.

This should work for sacks as well. If Palmer is trying to avoid the rush, he leaves the ball open but he doesn't see Harris coming from the blind side, and I press A. I should be able to easily strip him and get a good animation.

Is there any way you will be showing us blocking/interception/fumbling snap/sack-fumble animations? Please, it would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Early look / prototype

Maybe I am missing something but this looks exactly the same as this years animations? Juke and stop on a dime, spin on a dime with no momentum to slow them down?

Again maybe I am missing something here

Looks great Ian (the 2nd one). LOL at the shotgun in the back tackle.

Looks great Ian, keep up the good work. I would like to see more examples of the stutter steps though.

Did you catch my post a few back Ian? The spin move has kinda been an issue for a while and I appreciate that you have been working on it.
