That was kind of my point, because it increased the sales due to lack of competition, but indirectly worsened the game.

We need to stop focusing on petty issues and try to improve the meat and potatoes. As far as the spin goes, I can see your point about it being used as an animation that is keyed off breaking tackles, but I'm willing to bet the CPU would end up getting the better of that deal.
The last time I checked, this is supposed to be a football simulation; thus a true representation of football. I'm as big into franchise as anybody, and was happy after year one of mine to see that it was hard to sign players and stay under the cap. But then became dissapointed as I found out it gets easier every year. The cpu logic in the draft pretty much sucks, and there are plenty of other things that need to be fixed. However, the original question of Ian asked about some animations, I was just answering the question.
The point is, the blocking video is a horrible demonstration of how to block someone and the running game is not even close to an accurate representation of what takes place in a game, and all the developers have to do is take a little time and actually watch a game from the endzone camera, hell the game is played from that perspective, it could at least look similar. This is not petty to me as I deal with football all day long and even choose to spend my leisure time with it. Franchise mode to me is part of the gameplay and to be honest, I could care less about presentation and atmosphere. I want accurate gameplay and realistic off-field management. I realize that the vast majority of people who play the game don't understand the real game and chances are none of the programmers have a strong sense of understanding the game, but I was just saying my piece.

You do realize that currently, the y button is used to protect the ball ; Why should the ball carrier automatically protect the ball ?? Should ball carriers juke or lower their shoulders automatically when defenders are approaching???

Just because you don't protect the ball now in madden doesn't mean you're guaranteed to fumble the ball. It would be the same with switching hands, it just makes a fumble less probable; it also makes the game more realistic.

Do you want the game to be easier ???

The first level of running would be the slowest; this is the level where players would usually run in heavy traffic( A RB looking for a hole, or a receiver in heavy traffic trying to get YAC). This level would be the ideal level for performing jukes, for making an approaching defender miss.

The second level would be better suited for a running back accelerrating through the hole, or a WR running a reverse. Jukes should be possible, but much less effective with this level of effort.

The third level would be all out sprinting; the ability to do jukes, or stiff arms should be turned off at this level.

The ability to increase from one level of effort to the next would be determined by a player's acceleration rating; the ability to decrease from effort level to effort level would be determined by a player's agility rating.

Also, the player's legs when running or sprinting don't move fast enough.
For the first effort level, you would just use the left stick; for the second effort level you would press and hold (A) while pushing the left stick in the direction you want the player to go. For the third level(sprinting) you would tap (A) rapidly(like apf 2k8) while pushing the left stick in the direction you want the player to go.

Yes, I am very much aware of that.

Don't be ridiculous . I just feel that they're doesn't have to be a button dedicated to protecting the ball. It's a little redundant to me. In other football games, when the tackle animation starts, you can see the ballcarrier clutching the ball harder. I'm content with that as opposed to having to press a button.

It makes the game more realistic to have to manually press buttons to switch hands? In MY opinion, that would be a WASTE of buttons.

Sounds like you want the game to be easier. Protecting the ball is part of football and especially the NFL; IMO it shouldn't happen automatically.

The game should become more realistic. Protecting the ball when being hit is a simple lesson for any RB to learn.

I think that protecting the ball should be an automatic action. So then the carrying rating comes into play.

It doesn't make the game that much easier because most people dont even use "Protect Ball" because they dont even know its there and it is out of the way.

Re: Early look / prototype

We need acceleration in the game. Now that would make a huge difference.
