HELL NO the spin should not be taken out of the game!!!! Man lots of backs use spin moves in the NFL, LT anyone? That is not a very good idea at all.

Re: Early look / prototype

I am saying spin moves as a juke not an animation caused by another button combo should be taken out. Where do you see LT spamming spin moves. I watch alot of Pro football and I rarely if ever see an open field spin move that doesn't end badly for the back. It is used sometimes for the back to get a couple extra yards after being caught by the defense or a back that get stopped in the backfield so he can at least get back to the LOS.

What I see happen alot though is a back get hit on the hip and kind of bounce of the hit into a new hole. Look at Deangleo Williams run against the Bucs a couple of weeks ago. He does that better than anyone right now.

I think LT is the best at running across the line finding a hole and then planting and bursting through the hole. AP may be the best at this very soon though.

Another thing that the best runners do very well is cutback. sometime all the way across the line. No real way to do this in the game either.

One thing that needs to go is the highlit stick move where backs duck under a tackle, that never happens, ever.

The Highligt stick is a good idea but it should not be used for jukes it should be for cuts. The juke and spin in madden doesnt really work in teh NFL, it doesnt even really work in madden...

They need to add more subtle headfakes.

Re: Early look / prototype

anyone look at the blocking motion capped after the original video? That didn't look very good at all. The blocker kept his shoulders square to the line of scrimmage, which is a no-no on zone schemes and on the second recording, the blocker was crossing his feet over, which is just fundamentally unsound. The only thing I liked is the amount of lateral movement. I've never understood why there is virtually no side-to-side movement in madden, as that is the way most movement occurs in the nfl; laterally, not vertically. Ian, are you guys able to get your hands on "tight copy" game tapes, the ones shot from the endzone?

Who cares about the crossing of the guys legs during a blocking animation or keeping his shoulders square?!??! They developers waste too much time on crap like that and then they leave franchise mode and online franchises untouched. that's exactly what I was talking about in earlier posts. We need to stop focusing on petty issues and try to improve the meat and potatoes. As far as the spin goes, I can see your point about it being used as an animation that is keyed off breaking tackles, but I'm willing to bet the CPU would end up getting the better of that deal.

so if all they did was bring franchise mode up to your standards and did nothing to tweak the gameplay nor presentation(atmosphere) you'd be happy with Madden 2010?

Re: Early look / prototype

Hell Yeah!!! I just went to youtube and looked at some footage from NFL2k5 if Madden had had all these licenses for 4+ years and has still been unable to create a game with anywhere near the presentation of that game, wtf makes you think they are going to actually try and do it now? Maybe due to the fact they failed all those profit estimates they might actually show some concern for the consumer, but i'm willing to bet they blame it on the economy and keep hashing out the same recycled garbage year after year regardless of all this fan feedback.

Look I'm not bashing Ian directly because I do recall his Maddens being some of the best ever. What I do doubt are the powers above him, that will limit how much he puts in the game. now there is no competition coupled with the fact they had a tough year, the suits will focus on cost-cutting and would immediately shut down any attempt to add things like halftime shows etc, into the game that may cost some development money.

Crowd noise like NCAA actually would be a huge addition as well.

Re: Early look / prototype

Upon further reconsideration, Leave the spin move in the game.

When i engage a defender, i spam spin, and i usually spin away from the tackle.

Gameplay is a huge part of the game and must be improved.

Take it off easy level homey, or start playing some real ballers because that doesnt work for me.
