When did he say that he just threw it together?

I believe he said it in the first post.

Check out this video - it's a prototype I threw together to show a 'prep' move in between spins/jukes while sprinting. The first set of jukes / spins is the same as what you'd expect from last year...then around the :13 second mark i switch on the 'prep' or 'gather' moves while sprinting.
First post. He tweaked it in a matter of minutes. If he did it that quick, and it looks that good, then what the heck happened in the past 20 years with anyone else who made it??

Anyway, I can't wait to see others.

Re: Early look / prototype

Suggestion:

The runner starts the running animation at full speed, yet when he stops he decreases speed and slowly comes to a stop. Make the runner start the same way he stops.

Let the runner build up to a full stride, and have different strides at the various speeds. Top speed should look like a track sprinter...etc...etc..Look at combine tape of the 40 yard dash runs. Why can't the players look like that in Madden?

Also, can we have different running styles? Long stride (T.O.), short choppy steps (Jamal Lewis), etc...etc..

I think we lose sight on how fast a NFL player makes a juke move, change of direction, and a spin move. These athletes moves so damn fast its insane. The spin move like someone posted earlier needs to be tighter and faster. This can also be implemented to each individual player on having a quicker tighter spin move by rating, but what we must also remember is that defenders have great agility also and this is what counters whether they get juked or not or how hard the defender comes at the offensive player that was performing the juke or spin. All that has to come into account to determine if the juke , change of direction, or spin move is a success.

The video looks good, but I agree the spin has to be tighter and faster. Animation for running looks alot better.

Re: Early look / prototype

ian,

the rushing animations look good to me...

a few things...

1. big backs like jacobs should have very bad spin moves... so bad actually that you wouldn't even want to try to spin with them, cuz, if you think about it, when is the last time jacobs tried to spin by someone??? he goes right through people...

2. for trucking, the players size, and strength needs to be taken into account... IE: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yM2wjq7GGic
i love what 2k did with the "deflect" of the HB and the attention to detail in the little animations...

3. for pass defense... please please please get rid of the DB being able to go for the ball, change dirrection in mid air, and crush the WR... another IE: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JVMnlfEgV4k this video shows exactly what i am talking about...

i think thats all for now, i absolutley love the fact that you are asking US, the gamers, about the next game... this shows me that you, IAN, cares about what we all think... thank you so much for taking the time to read all of our posts and ideas....

regards,
ceegee

As countryboy said I wasn't the lead guy before, but it's also a combination of our tools. It wasn't until last year that we could create this fast of a turnaround between idea <-> implementation in terms of ballcarrier animations. Many times we needed involvement from an engineer...now we can just go to town on our own.
