Re: What presentaion aspects do you want to see in Madden 2010?

TheWatcher-cool ideas.

Some of my ideas:

I think that Madden's presentation could/should go one of 2 ways. Either make a fully TV presentation, or make fully authentic on-field experience which makes you feel like you are one of the players. In my opinion, right now Madden is somewhere in between.

1. Since there are already commentators, a on-screen scoreboard, and stat tickers etc. in Madden, which are already part of a TV broadcast, go all out with the TV presentation

2. Or make it an on-field experience with player chatter, coach instruction in place of the commentary team and a more dynamic camera angle that follows the ball, without the on-screen tickers and stuff and make it as close to being on the field as possible.

A third option--do both, but have two different presentation styles- going all out on both-and give us the option of which one to play a game with. That would be pretty cool (although possibly wishful thinking )

Other Presentation Ideas
-More real-life atmosphere & emotion: a totally live environment; sidelines (example—Coaches and players running along the sideline on long plays); linjuries with trainers, chain gang measurements, referees, etc.
-One of the coolest animations I have seen in a football game was in All-Pro 2k8. When I ran an INT back for a TD, the guys on the sideline were jumping up and down and running along the sideline with me. I would love to have this in Madden.
-players interacting with the camera. I think that would be a sweet cutscene in Madden.
-on-field cutscenes such as players waiting in anticipation for the chain measurement, player celebrations for sacks, etc. Please stop doing the jumbotron cutscenes for sacks and first downs, etc.
-pre-game and post-game celebrations, blow out big games (i.e. pre-season should feel way different than the playoffs), better Super Bowl celebrations-stadium flyovers, incorporate NFL Films for the post-game highlight show; ***have players, coaches, and media people swarm the field after a Super Bowl win (This would be awesome)***
-a stadium flyover
-Player-specific commentary (Have the commentators address every player by name. In 09, it sounds really weird to have them just say “This guy” or “This quarterback”, while only saying some players’ names. Please script each players’ name into the game if possible); more emotion
-More animated gear: towels, handwarmers, chin straps, jersey pulling, helmets coming off on big hits or during OL/DL interaction
-Degradation: sliding marks in the snow, better field degradation; also add fog back
-I think that there should also be different parts of the crowd. The entire crowd isn't just for one team. On big plays for the home team, there should also be a boos from a section of the "visiting" crowd, and vice versa (a small section getting really excited and cheering on a big play for the visiting team while the majority of the crowd boos.)
-I think it would be cool if they made backtrack more like a telestrator rather than the one they have now with the glowing players and the arrows. Or maybe a choice between the two.
-NFL Films

ADDING ASSIST TACKLES AS A STAT

Also why no love/no mention of who made the tackle/assist on the play. This is the way it should show up after a play: 6 yard run by M. Barber Tackled by P. Willis/M. Lawson.

Would it ever be possible for the commentators to acknowledge players previous game/stat achievements?

Like if you are playing the Colts and last week he threw for 400 yds and 5td's have them mention it. Stuff like that. Or even current season stats like " Manning has completed 65% of his passes after 8 games this season" Or " Willis leads the Nfl in tackles this season with 90" Little things like this would be amazing.

The old xbox1 Nfl fever games did stuff like this and it was amazing. Like if you were coming close to breaking a record they would say so and then would say something when u tied the record, then when you broke the record they would show the player waiving his hand to the crowd acknowledging his achievement.

Better records kept like retired jersey's /HOF'ers/ Previous offense/defense/SB mvp's.

If anyone can find a old version of NFL Fever 2003/2004 check out all that they have in that aspect of the game.
Its nuts they even keep records on TACKLES

Heres one that would be AMAZING!!! During a challenge review the commentary or a ref walk us through the replay and tells us what they see. Like if its a questionable catch on the sideline, have the replay and the commentators walk through the replay and give opinions of whether or not he was in bounds. IE dirt flying up with the toe tap or not. I think this would add to the drama of challenged plays.

Gameplay Cut Scenes

How do you guys feel about game play cut scenes? I think they would add a ton of realism to the game. I think I remember Ian said that it was kind of like cheating because it's not played out through game play. These are the situations where IMHO they would add value.

1) Showing Ref's conferring after a questionable call or important decision

2) Pile ups and fumble recoveries

3) First down measurements

4) Refs explaining a call to a coach or explaining the penalty

I'd love to see them take the score, down & distance, and qtr. box out and replace it with one more like the networks have (smaller) and then place it in the top right corner of the screen so its out of the way.

The way it is now, they have that big ol' thing right in the middle of the screen...plus, its up to the user to know that the game situation is...the game info box is actually a huge giveaway.

My concept:

Real life:

... Broadcast standard... that's all's I'm say'in

Sweet angle on a simple TD celebration

... we need a total overhaul of the post-play camera philosophy.

I think the presentation aspect could very easily be fixed. Watch an actual televised NFL game and make Madden look like that as much as possible. I honestly think this will fix many of the presentation issues.

Wow, great idea! I love the close up of the TD. They should do like a whole cinematic cut scene once a player breaks the goaline.

What perplexes me about the whole thing though, is that the photo I showed there kinda reminds you of some of what they were doing with Madden 07. I remember running a TD in with Peyton Manning and I got a cutscene just like that. Needless to say, I lost my mind. I didn't see it again but once, but it was very nice.

What they should do now is just make angle changes in these moments like you said (no far away shots, stay close and at field level), and let us still have control of what the player does next so it doesn't turn into a canned cutscene situation.

Re: What presentaion aspects do you want to see in Madden 2010?

I forgot one thing.. im a CNC Programmer at my work place, i couldn't get my mind off madden 2010 while working lol.. today i was at work thinking about this post a bit while working and then it hit me that i forgot to add this and i been meaning to post about it in here for a while now but it just slips my mind some times.

Injuries.. some cool injury scenario's should be put into Madden 2010. I know it something that NFL2k5 did but it was "VERY" cool and believe it or not, it REALLY made me feel like i was really IN THE GAME!. When a player gets hurt and is on the ground rolling in pain, show a cut scene of some team staff running out onto the field to go help the injured player up.. then have the camera pan around while the team staff help the player limp off the field....I'll say it Again!, if you do put this in, MAKE SURE there are plenty of various cut scenes of coaches, staff, etc running out to check up on the injured player.. you know, maybe one cut scene, have 2-3 team staff run out, another time have 4-5 staff come out along with a offensive coach or something..just mix it up a bit so its not the same each time.

(but it shouldnt stop there, CHECK THIS BELOW)
For more "serious" injuries...bring in a cart onto the field, Show the team staff helping the player onto the cart ... but check this out! When the cart is driving the player off the field towards the tunnel entrance.. have the crowd give off a loud "cheer & clap" ...just like the fans/crowds do in a real NFL game...you know, give the injured player a bit of applause ... these "little" things MAKE ALL THE DIFFERENCE, Tiburon.

This is the very thing im trying to stress and as you can see.. many others in here agree with me or have that same insight on this...there's no denying it... we REALLY want to see these kind of things in Madden 2010. It shouldn't be a very time consuming thing to implement neither.... dedicate a few guys to implement this stuff into Madden 2010 for us..

One last thing.. kick off and field goal camera's... i really think using more various camera's ..or lower to the ground camera's would be more dynamic and fun to watch the ball fly thru the air.

This may sound strange but believe it or not.. us gamers LOVE to watch the ball sail up in the air.. for kick offs... let the camera focus on the ball while its high up in the air a bit longer.... and same for field goals, maybe keep that camera very low behind the field goal kicker..soon as his foot meets the ball..pan that camera angle around some.. so we can watch that ball sail up from the ground up thru the posts...

Its these little things that count.. and im glad to see alot of people sharing their thoughts and idea's for this topic..it really is VERY IMPORTANT to Madden...if we can convince the developers into believing in us with this.. Madden 2010 will be one damn fun and exciting game of football... i have no doubt about it...
