I agree. Something that seems to be apparent too is the lack of smoothness with animations. For whatever reason EA's attempts at nextgen animations are terribly twitchy. Whatever they need to do to make the game more smooth I am all in favor of.

Also why does it seem that other football games have 1000 more animations than EA football games. Bland is right. It would be nice if there were actuall differences in big time hits and regular average tackles. It seems like every tackle is a huge hit that it takes away from the times where they would truly be interesting.

Sig styles I am not too much a fan of. But I am a fan of groups of animation styles. By this I mean animations only certain types of players get. For instance speed rushers would get an animation where they beat the OT around the end cutting the corner while getting low. A 3rd down scat back like Jerome Harrison would have different animations than a big back like Brandon Jacobs. The elite fast players would have burst animations when turning the corner that other players wouldn't. This is what I thought next gen would bring....the NBA games have it but the football games are woefully behind.

As Lee Corso would say, "I agree 200%" Me for one I would cut the ring feature, and everything that has to do with the madden IQ and the cyber game.

The juke in madden is the same exact unreal animation over and over each time it is performed. It looks so pathetic, like a side-ways moonwalk or something.

The juke in 2k5 is organic, and I think you are just blindly saying its bad, with no evidence.

Hey man, heres what I want and would like to see. 2k is ok. Not good but at least not terrible. I know Ian's fixin the running mo cap and what not but the juke and cuts HAVE to be done like featured in this video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Und0z...eature=related

As yall can see hes the zen master but thats the mo cap we need for 2010.

Re: Madden 20-10: Number of Animations

LET's get some more going. Btw, there are about 300 general ideas in this thread already and should serve as a source for building animations. Simon needs to interact here and let us know what can and cannot be done.

Going high on Jacobs is not a good idea as you can see Reed does here and he is basically flung off because of Jacobs power. Would be a nice animation to see when smaller guys go high on big backs. Have them jump over on him but get flung off.

Tackle from behind. One arm around the waist the other right on top of the pads, almost looks like a horse collar but isn't. He drags Burress down here to prevent him from going any further.

Another low, from the side/behind tackle. Grab that leg and hold on for help. Now this is where the player on offense should be given the option to fight out so long as help is not on the way. And of course ratings have to matter here as well. Suggs holds on for this tackle without help.

Spear tackle right in the mid-section.

Ahh the drama in this, will he come down with it or not?

couldn't pull it in.

Pressure nullifies a throw down the field. This is where some people would want to challenge. did his arm go forward or was it a fumble?

Defensive Pass interference, something that isn't called all that much in Madden.

When there is a fumble, have guys scramble for it. In Madden/NCAA it always seems someone picks the fumble up and attempts to run with it. Have some guys aware of the circumstances and just get the damn ball.

Broken UP.

Wrap tackle where he slips around to the backside and the ball comes loose in the process.

Ray Rice classic short man juke. Very low to the ground.

Spin move. After the catch, he plants, the defender goes for the fake as you can see.

Then he spins back and he ran this one in for the TD. This is a different play than the one above by the way. He just does the same thing to two defenders. Stops plants, spins back inside. Sometimes you will see a guy catch, spin and square up to see where the defender is, and chop his feet getting ready to throw a juke move.

McClain is a big back. Contact was made around the 4 yard line. But he basically carries Jones into the endzone. Too much size and power.

Hey Ian - is it possible to get animations into the game WITHOUT mo-capping?

Re: Madden 20-10: Number of Animations

The thing with animation is that we will keep complaining until we get a real physics based system that does it all. But since that hasn't been announced yet for Madden, i would hope for 10 they work on more QB animations. I want to see the QB make more dazzling throws. I want to see myself passing that ball and expected a hard a** hit by a linebacker.

As of right now, i'm in love with 09, since i didn't pick up 08 i see a big improvment over 07 which is great. The animation system they have truly is a refreshing system compared to 07 again.

I mentioned this before, but the animations in Madden have to be extended a bit. Too many times a player will go down or the play will end before another defender can get onto the tackle.

Re: Madden 20-10: Number of Animations

See I agree. Is it perfect, heck no. But is it solid yea. Maybe because of what I did witht he rosters and how I play. The only real gripe I have with 09 is I feel the commentary and atmosphere stinks and it need a lot more animations. The ESPN needs to be utilized a heck of a lot more. I think the rest is just fine. Then again, I have been playing madden for years. The new management has me excited about the new madden. But I still enjoy 09. I play it constantley. I do hate the madden IQ though. The human'CPU sliders def need a comeback. I dont think even if done right the madden IQ is a good thing. Thats just me though.

Love this picture and would like to see more QB's have their throws deflected/batted as it would give DL and LB's more opportunities for interceptions.
