I'd say double the animations with a focus on tackles, breaking tackles, catches, and passes defended.

I would say that the QB animations need the most work.

Re: Madden 20-10: Number of Animations

Heres some ideas that I came up with earlier:

One thing I am hoping for in a drastic change in the WR aniamtion system. I think there needs to be a ton of new animations capturing catch styles and whatnot. Like if your a user controlled reciver like me, have recievers that run after the ball change their body language according to how you want to catch it. Like if your running under a fade, the reciever adjusts his body to ball and jumps and makes the catch. here a video exactly what I am talikng about:
Boldin- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F4bAk...eature=related
Ocho Cinco(1:55 mark)- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vV2pr...eature=related
Also Ian could you ask to art guy or whomever to redo the player equipment deal where the shoulder pads look all weird. http://i.a.cnn.net/si/2007/writers/b...er_bergman.jpg

Re: Madden 20-10: Number of Animations

One thing I really want back is the abilty to while I am scrambling, with the right analog stick I can call a reciever to "come back to the ball" This would be awesome. I would also like to see again the on the fly call for a blocker that I think was in madden 05. Also I would like to see timing routes in conjuction with dropbacks to play a bigger role into the outcomes of plays. Like if you miss your window to throw in there is an accuracy penalty or something. One thing I notice is sometime cheesers drop back 15 yards and wait for something to open up. The call for reciever is nice but the average time in pocket or pass play(excluding YAC) is 4-6 seconds. One last thing is I feel there needs to be a whole new juke animation implemented. I like Ncaa 09's juke as to I think the left analog could be the quick juke and the right is the agressive juke. The one that is currently there looks unrealistic and really doesnt have a whole lot of effect to it.

Re: Madden 20-10: Number of Animations

Ian - i'd love to see a lot more wrap up animations added in this game. It seems like tackle animations aren't varied enough, and the ones that are in, are "big hit" animations.

Also - WR/DB interaction needs to be increased as well.

Definately need aroun 900 new animations

Areas

Tackling 2 player and break tackling

Things like this

2 Player Tackle wit man coming over the top. One holds legs other comes up top.

Single Player Tackling/Break Tackle

This is not really a break tackle, but the defender comes in at an angle that allows the RB to drag him for some extra yards.

QB Sacks

you don't have to have big hits on the QB all the time.

jump on the back. Another defender coming under.

QB Sack and Stripped

1 hand/arm take down

Another Strip on the QB

Break Tackles

In madden this is a tackle. But notice Burress uses the defenders speed and angle against him and sorta throws him to the side.

Slippery

Slippery and hanging on.

WR/DB

These two positions are all about positioning.

Let me throw the ball outside like this so the WR can get it even with the DB in the area. If I have Moss and he is singled up then I should be able to do this, he basically posted the man up and Cassell lead it outside. Now I'm not saying this should work always, but if I get man coverage and the CB is playing inside I should be able to get this if I have a route that covers the outside.

Now you are going to have some of your die hard Madden guys look at this photo above and say see LB Rocket Catch. I'll say yeah. But notice the DB he aint out in space somewhere. He still has position to make the tackle unlike the DB's do when you rocket out in space.

When DB's have position they need to reach in there and try to swipe ball away, like the above photo shows.

CB slips and the WR misses the pass.

Celebrations

Notice Garrard in the background, he shows he knows what is about to happen.

The sideline erupts.

Sack Celebration

Multiple player post sack celebration

QB Drop

Notice the footwork. Also I'll have to go back and check, but how do the QB's in Madden open up.

Now notice Leftwich. His feet look really interesting LOL.

OL vs DL

Key thing in pass rushing and OL pass blocking, use your hands. Extend the arms and punch. Dlinemen, use your moves. Don't get chest stuck together.

Re: Madden 20-10: Number of Animations

Notice one thing about the defense in the photos. In many of them there is a lot of REACHING. I think 2k did a great job of adding reach tackling but it needed another year. Me thinks Madden could use such a mechanic. Could have posted more, but I think what has been posted is a good base to build close to 500 + new animations.

Re: Madden 20-10: Number of Animations

We definitely need reach tackling. I hate being engaged by a blocker and I'm close enough to at least disrupt the running lane, but I'm stuck in the engaged animation and can't move a limb.
