Say your playing a season and the sliders begin to adjust to your play style and your defense is horrible. After the first season is over you aquire new defensive talent thus making your D much better in the second season. So what do the sliders do? The sliders start to change in favor for your defense because you've improved. This means you don't have to adjust CPu sliders because the AI is already doing it for you. Well not the CPU sliders but the human sliders.

I SEE I SEE, this could be viable in franchise mode. However, I still don't see how the QB accuracy and all that other jazz that could pose a problem will be fixed. Maybe in patches I hope?

Hey, great job I'm starting to like this. Only time will tell when we get our copies.
If you look at it from that perspective, then it does make sense. I hope that the CPU plays realistically depending on the skill level it's set on.

Anyway, does the adaptive AI take into account player ratings at all? Meaning if I play with the worst rush d in the league will the game keep adapting to make it easier for me to stop the run that eventually I'm giving up nothing on the ground regardless of the team I play against?

It is possible for you to give us more details as to how this adaptive AI works?
Yeah, thats a good question. I was wondering if I sucked at defense (pass defense) in game 1 of my franchise, would the next game be easier in that aspect and continue to go up and down as opposed to staying at a certain level.

The team I played against was called FCS. I don't recognize that school but I'd hate to be their football team in real life. I don't think they're going anywhere this year.

That is correct. The IQ is basically an in-depth handicap.

I'll personally be turning it off.

Right. You could get into an endless loop where you suck one game, dominate the next, suck the next, dominate the next etc because the IQ is compensating each time to each extreme.

I'm hoping it's something that builds over time and the more data you throw at it, the less and less each individual game influences the settings. In theory, that way would mean IQ is gradually always getting better and better at adjusting to yourself.

Hi Ian, if I'm understanding correctly, changing the subsliders within the SKILL LEVEL's change only the HUM ratings. But, does changing the SKILL LEVEL themselves change the ratings at all for CPU?

Example if I'm playing with PASS DEFENSE on ROOKIE, does it lower CPU PASS ratings (qb acc, throw pwr, etc.) and raise HUM DEF ratings (all pass rush abilities, pass defense abilities)... or does it just raise/lower HUM ratings? or none of the above.

This is ridiculous.

At this point, everyone is just shooting into the dark on how to tailor the game to our needs, even the developer.

Good luck fellas. I don't have the patience for it anymore. Tailoring a football video game shouldn't require you to go through hoops and stand on one leg while keeping both pointer fingers in the air.

The basketball video games can't come fast enough.

This is what it all comes down to. If the game was coded correctly then we probably shouldn't need sliders, especially CPU sliders, all that much.

However, take a look at the NCAA Slider area, it will make your head spin. There are sets from Varsity to Heisman with sliders from 0-100 for almost every category. There are people in every thread saying the applicable set 'saved the game for them.' Nobody knows what the hell they do. Again, though how much do the sliders actually work - you can move your pass block and run block sliders to 0 and you wil still see yout 75 OT flip a 95 DE. More than just on occasion too.

Again, if coded properly you shouldn't have to worry about T. Jackson completing 85% of his passes 90% of the time, so there is no need for a CPU QB ACC slider. The problem is, if the game isn't coded so well, well we have a problem because there is almost nothing you can do about it. Same thing with WR Catch, if the CPU just doesn't drop any passes, that's it, you're done. Of course it also matters if the sliders actually do anything, I mean putting the INT slider at 0 last year didn't help too much (at all). Maybe jacking up the d works, maybe it doesn't.

Im with you on this man. Maybe we can bounce some ideas off of Ian and get him to put them into action for the next madden. I posted a few questions a couple of post up. Maybe you can add some ideas to those for 2010.

You can say it's a handicap but I don't think it'll make a huge difference. What the IQ does is keep you in game. There are times when you go up against a really good offensive team and your defense sucks, the offense will blow you away. What the IQ does (i believe) is tweak your sliders not to give you an advantage but to help you keep your team in the game and maybe pull off a Giants vs Pats upset victory type ordeal. I honestly don't think the IQ will make you a superbowl team. It'll keep games close but its up to you to finish.

I'm getting horny!

Regarding the worry of "Super-Accurate QB's" (a la NCAA) as I have seen posted numerous times, I posted Human vs. CPU QB stats so you can make this judgement for yourself here:
