Im holding you personally responsible for this now........just a heads up

Re: More info on CPU Sliders (from EA)

the problem with madden has always been 2 SPECIFIC issues.

1- ratings ASIDE from SPEED are meaningless. Look at all the "NEW" attributes they have installed the last few years, they are MEANINGLESS (spectacular catch was meaningful but blown out of proportion and needed to be nurfed). they have NO effect on how the players perform. Example: champ bailey is a shut down corner with GREAT awareness, speed, man and zone coverage skills almost MAXED. But yet a 65 ovr WR with top notch speed WINS 8.5/10. Why? attributes man NOTHING. A 70 ovr LB can still perform feats of amazement. Why? attributes mean nothing! GREAT Ol get burned by average at best Dl why? attributes mean nothing!

2- as it is now, ONE overall AI governs BOTH Offense and Defense as well as special teams. They all operate as a whole, and react to their assignments as a whole unit. That is an issue. there is no AI implemented for the AI to "improvise". Example: a Wr runs a crossing route, the SS is playing in the BOX and is in zone coverage. His assignment sayd he is to play X number of yds deep and cover Y area of the field. As it is right now, because the SS is X yds off the WR is WIDE open 95% of the time for a catch and run for yds (maybe only a few but could mean a difference in 1st down or 3rd and long). What the SS should do is recongnize the route, jump it OR play a bit more shallow. There is no SITUATIONAL awareness. No AI that says "Play the guy to the 1st down marker." OR "Play a bit more shallow." Even if you HOT ROUTE the defender he still drops back to the designated area and does not react to the route or the WR.

Now i usually play SS or LB, but like to play DL as well. But the AI issues make the Defense WEAk to a fault. Defenders dont REACT the way they should. Press coverage DOES NOT work like it should. Safeties dont play their zones correctly and should have a "HELP" attribute (not like they maen anything anyway)

These are just 2 issues where especially on Defense causes an issue. Seems on Offense you have some more control, but defense as of late is a afterthought at best. I dont want to score every drive or feel like i can at will.

BTW......CPU sliders USED to be able to fix this .......Not anymore!

Whenever the AI went deep -- as in 15+ yards in the air -- that's when the AI knocked down passes. The AI is really bad at throwing the deep ball. It seems to wobble and float where as the 8 yard pass is zipped with amazing velocity. It would appear that the game knows damn well that its best course of action is to dink and dunk down the field. I see that every game.

There is no excuse for the AI in this game to be soo redundant and lackluster.

Does EA tweak the cpu AI tendacies at all from year to year? EVERY team in the game plays exactly alike, the only difference is that they line up in different formations.

Once the ball is snapped though......the dink and dunk pass offense kicks in for every CPU controlled QB.

This crap has been going on for too long. IMO Madden will always be strictly a tournament style game.

Anyone who wants to play season mode and get an experience that mimics the games IRL, gets screwed EVERY year......this is ridiculous.

What's the point of having all of the team specific playbooks, if the CPU runs the same short passing game offense for everyteam.

4 years on NextGen and the AI is still as predictible and clueless as ever.

SMH......

So, I guess we just won't have CPU sliders this years after all? Has a decision been made?

Re: More info on CPU Sliders (from EA)

Ian (or Phil, or Donny, or Simon), i wanted to post this in hopes of getting an answer, or veiled response. This is from Bill Abner's blog

Quote:
When the Cowboys had it at first it was a lot like the old games in Play Now mode. A lot of quick underneath passes. Then I started to watch the replays. It's the zones. The zone coverages are very lax, giving receivers way too much space and the AI takes what I give them--even when it shouldn't. (like on 3rd and long) From the 3rd quarter on I called nothing but straight up man to man coverages. Not the same defense but everything was Man.
This was/is an issue in NCAA. I know some of whats in the patch is based on feedback from NCAA, would this be something that was considered? I know its not final and you dont want to say too much on it, but i feel its a fair question.

Re: More info on CPU Sliders (from EA)

^^^ Agreed, taternuts. That is something that needs to be fixed for 2010 at least.

And I want to say one thing.......the Knockdown slider effects DL knockdowns? Either Ian is mistaken, or the people who made that decision are just dumb as rocks. Is this the same with NCAA? Honestly I don't see it working that way with NCAA and never in the past, so was it changed for Madden this year? Who in their right mind would think we need a slider for DL Knockdowns How about defensive back knockdowns...again, if it's like NCAA, raised Awareness slider doesn't seem to lead to more plays on the ball by the DBs

Re: More info on CPU Sliders (from EA)

So no CPU sliders (taken out for what reason exactly?), the same questionable defensive AI (super D for cpu, lax D for human), many interceptions, high completion % from a dink and dunk type AI offense and player ratings meaning nothing yet again despite EA increasing the amount of categories to rate them in.

Typical EA...don't fix things that have been broken for years while screwing up other areas. I guess the cpu slider thing isn't a big deal since sliders have NEVER really worked in past madden games and I doubt they magically have them working now.

It'd be nice if the people making madden actually CARED for one friggin year. Just give us ONE great game and then go back to making the same crap that people will buy up each year because they are programmed into thinking they need to. All I want is one great madden that I can play for years and not get frustrated with after 3 weeks.

I like madden to the brett favre stuff...he is one of the most selfish athletes ever and does not care if he hurts a team yet he gets a pass from so many. EA keeps releasing crap football games but they get a pass from so many. Sad...
