Why does this seem to be such a foreign concept? It's like people scratching their heads saying "Huh, player ratings? But what about sliders??"

That is unless it's just a foregone conclusion that player ratings don't really matter and it's all about slider settings in which case that SUCKS.

Why can't they please everyone by having sliders that dramatically impact the game, like I said. Seems simple enough to me. It's not like we're asking them to split the atom here.

Uh, what good are player ratings when average quarterbacks are completing 70-75 percent of their passes, the best pass rushers can't get more than a few sacks a season, medicore kickers can consistently nail 55-yard FGs, etc, like in NCAA 09? Hence, the need for sliders.

I think your missing Spanky's point. Make sliders that have a HUGE variance beween the lowest and highest settings. This allows the USER to find the best settings for their personnal playing preferences. I don't see how this can be a bad thing.

Yeah, its like they don't believe that some of us might really and truly want to tune the game so that it doesn't always play out like a highlight reel.

"No, you don't really want to have a game where each team has 10 penalties"

"Each quarterback throwing 5 or 6 uncatchable passes a game? Naw nobody wants that."

"Who would want FG's over 45 yards to actually be difficult to make?, surely no one"

Maybe its because they're aren't enough animations in the game, or because they don't want to frustrated the average gamer, but at the default settings the game has never been tuned so that player ratings is the largest determining factor in what happens during a given play.(With the exception of speed, of course)

Sliders with extreme variations can allow the User to attempt to make ratings more relevant to the gameplay, instead of a minor contributing factor.

i don't have the game, but yes, it's been confirmed in (by the developers, and two indivuals who have the game and tried CPU v. CPU). My understanding, however, is that there is no Broadcast view for it like in years past (I don't use the mode, but I understand that was a big deal for people who do). hope that helps

We'd all love to see a truly sim game, but that may alienate some of the casual fans?

And why are people proclaiming the cpu ai and gameplay broken before playing it. Do 3 peoples impression really count for that much? Maybe the cpu is actually well coded?
I don't see how having the ability to move sliders around would alienate casual fans. They are the ones that NEVER even go into sliders and move them. Many of them would not even be aware the game was customizable.

At best, for the casual fan, the game is released with the sliders preset like they already are. At best for the sim player, they know to go in and start tweaking the game to their liking. Win/Win.

I would love for this game to have sliders like NBA 2k8. That game has a different slider for basically EVERYTHING. Madden only having the basic 4 or 5 isn't enough anymore by any means.

Re: More info on CPU Sliders (from EA)

There are some things in the game that are good we all know that. But if you are a sim player then there are things in the game that are really bad. I cant see a way to stop the cpu from intercepting passes. Some might say throw better passes. But sometimes you can throw a pass perfectly and the cpu will jump to get it. MLBs in particular.

I have played the game a few times and that is one of the biggest things I have seen. Maybe it will be patched. But if we had cpu sliders in the game that worked then this would not even be an issue.

Casual gamers will not even notice that a MLB jumped really high to intercept a pass. That in real life he most likely would not have even touched.
