Ian, if there's one piece of advice I could give you for 2010 and the future, it's this:

Don't cater to one style of gameplay. Each version of Madden should be a wide-open scoring fest, a defensive struggle, and everything and anything in between. All adjustable with human and CPU sliders so that each individual can customize his own gaming experience. Let the user decide if he wants sim or arcade, don't decide for us.

And that means sliders should have a significant impact. For example, if you max out the INT slider, you should get 6 to 8 picks a game. If you put it at zero, you should get 0, maybe 1.

I don't think this is too much to ask for.

Agreed, this is MOST important next year. IMO, a close second is the OL/DL interaction, to include a pocket for the non Robo QB(hopefully).

Absolutely. All companies and developers need to understand the more flexability a game has built into it the better.

Could not have been said better Spanky! Your very popular request seems just too easy not to be done by next year...year 5.

Spanky,

Ian is well aware of catering to the casual, sim and madden nation crowd.
They are trying to find a happy medium that will appeal to the largest audience.

The current demographic of madden players are casuals, so thus madden caters to these guys the most.

We'd all love to see a truly sim game, but that may alienate some of the casual fans?

And why are people proclaiming the cpu ai and gameplay broken before playing it. Do 3 peoples impression really count for that much? Maybe the cpu is actually well coded?

Honestly, Ian, if there is a way as you mentioned to just patch the CPU sliders in, please just do it. Most of us here WILL not be happy unless you do, because we all have different expectations and skill levels for how the CPU needs to play. Tweaking Human sliders in really a poor work around. No matter how well the adaptive level tests work out, customization is still the best way to go. OS's out there that agree with me, please let Ian know. Thanks Ian.

I haven't played the game, other than the demo. Those that haven't played it and are proclaiming it to be broken already are being presumptious.

I am just someone that likes the ability to tweak the CPU with sliders. Even if it plays great, I may decide based on my ability and preferences to change the CPU OL play for instance because I am not good at the DL. But, if you can only change the Human slider for break block, this affects more than the OL/DL interaction. It would affect how well the DB or linebackers come of the block for instance. That is why I want CPU sliders. It is not because I think the game is broken already, since I have not played it. I and many others here just require customization. Heck, we even have a slider forum for sliders alone. Before I play a Dynasty, I get my sliders set up just right. Then I have a blast. Sometimes I end up tweaking them for the next season based on how well they played for me. Sliders are a very individual thing. It never hurts to have options. Those that don't want CPU sliders do not have to use them. I don't understand the people arguing about not putting them in. Just don't use them if they don't matter to you, but don't kill it for the rest of us.

Re: More info on CPU Sliders (from EA)

I never feel very strongly about most of these gaming issues, but lack of CPU sliders really may be a true game killer to me. I have bought Madden every year (last year I sold it during the Football season which is unheard of for me, I usually sell it when the new one comes out).

But, this year I may have to rent first, and wait and see if I can actually live without CPU sliders IF its not patched.

I really don't like the wait and see approach because then the patch won't be out until probably December or so because of the time it takes to make it and the approval processes.
