Re: More info on CPU Sliders (from EA)

I have a simple question.

Will there be a gamespeed slider setting?

I skipped Madden last year, but from what I've seen of the demo it seems decent enough to fill my football fix. However I think the gameplay is way too fast. Its especially evident on running plays- you have literally no time to read the holes and use your blocks, its sort of a run straight and flick the highlight stick kind of deal. (I don't know when EA will realize that a D lineman breaking through and tackling the RB right after the hand-off happens maybe once or twice a game, not ever other running play...but that's a different story).

Overall its okay. I'm trying to come at it with the mindset that its just a game, so take it for what it is and try to have fun with it, rather than expecting a hardcore simulation.

A few months ago MS offcially made 2k5 backward compatible with the 360. You just put in 2k5 in your 360 and it will prompt you to download the latest BC update and your playing it withi a few mins.

Maybe I didn't make it clear the first 2 times, I guess 3rd time is the charm.

KEEP THIS THREAD ON TOPIC!!!

THIS IS A DISCUSSION THREAD ABOUT THE NEW CPU SLIDERS AND HOW THEY WORK. THIS IS NOT A THREAD about:

*2K5 being backwards compatible with the 360
*bugs/glitches in NCAA
*how great of a Madden/NCAA player you are and how others need to learn to play the game

This is the final warning. Making off-topic posts will result in infractions.

Some may see it another way, but I can guarantee comments like this are why some in the community feel that the developers are being hand held here at OS.
If you feel I'm being hand-held I don't know what I can tell you. Obviously a lot of people are trying to stay positive since they don't want to scare me off (which is nice of them and it honestly helps me stay a bit more sane), but dude, look at what happened on these forums over the past 2 days. I don't think anyone could actually say folks were "holding my hand" throughout all of this.

This post serves for two great examples of why options and levels of customization are needed in all future games. First, I think the Madden demo plays too slow for my taste. My take is no better than yours, just different tastes. A gamespeed slider would be fantastic.

Second, well, I forgot my second point while writing my first one. But my first thought is valid.

Re: More info on CPU Sliders (from EA)

Ian, after reading all of the posts in the two threads, I still haven't read why the CPU sliders were taken out. Does anyone know yet?

Since you are now the Madden lead I want to trust that this kind of stuff will not happen under your leadership. Should I be worried, was this move forced from the top?

I also want to ask why the QB's are so accurate? Does this engine not allow for a change in how the QB behaves? Realistic QB play should be right up there with O & D Line interaction for next year.

If you leave the QB play as is and fix the line interaction, I can see even more issues occurring as it seems that QB's are very accurate to either their receiver or to a defensive player. No in-between and that is a major concern. I am hoping you can take the time to answer this or at least shed some light.

I would say there are some people trying to stay positive to keep you hear but I would also say there are some of us that are actually positive about the game. Year after year this happens where one issue is found and everyone that was waiting to say gotcha jumps out and screams without playing the game. Some people have legitimate gripes and Bill is probably one of those people. But Bill isn't the one posting all of the comments.

One point that I didn't see mentioned and I may be misunderstanding the issue but I believe Bill has said he is using the Browns. Could his issue be a combination of his skill level and the Browns crappy corners? I just checked and I think the Browns best cornerback is rated an 84. I ask because everyone here is still ignoring the fact that Jewelz has the game and his stats are accurate and thus, (I would say even more so than the ones you generated with the tests) making this slider discussion null IF the game does the work for you?

I maybe misunderstanding alot here but I would think this discussion would be balanced pro and con and it seems to swing very very con.

I think he's more talking about the shift in tone around here, because to be honest...this forum (Madden) and NCAA were quite a bit more negative before you and OMT got here. And a lot of the threads were not locked within 30 posts, and there were certainly no mods admonishing people and offering kind words before locking threads. That's kind of going on now, so people are getting the impression that they're doing it because you guys are here.

Of course, it could be in their heads. I don't really know.

I am going to speak for the mods here. We ARE NOT doing anything differently because Ian/Phil/Adam are here that we haven't done before.

Threads that are for troll purposes, are about topics being discussed elsewhere, or threads that go downhill for one reason or another will always be locked. Period. We do this because:

troll threads violate TOS

topics already being discussed threads clutter the forum

downhill threads become non-informative and if left open do nothing but cause more trouble.

DISAGREE. I can quote posts that were up before that didnt recieve infractions, that have now received infractions since the EA devs showed up.

I really have lost all little bit of faith I have had in EAsports regarding football. I mean havent we seen all of this before? They hold back NBA LIVE demo because they kNOW its garbage. Now they give us a football demo without being able to play defense in a 2 minute drill because THEY KNOW the qbs are too accurate, and the late game A.I. is garbage. Whether im just blowing conspiracy theory smoke circles or not, you cannot deny the ridiculous amount of evidence to suggest otherwise.

In regards to the CPU sliders, I guess the only option now is to globally edit the players to get the game to play like you want. I played the demo and got ALL madden on everything except defense and still had a fairly easy time moving down the field. What option do players who cna get ALL MADDEN on the IQ test and still find the game too easy have???
