Von Dozier, that's not Tecmo Bowl--that's Ten Yard Fight.

Re: New and More Sliders!!

if Ncaa has taught us anything, it tells us that qb pressure/hurries dont leads to inaccurate passes, rather to laser accurate passes into coverage usually leading to pics. So I dont believe that increasing the effectiveness of the human pass rush will solve that problem.

I wrote "We lose," as in the sim crowd and others who look for the same thing out of the game, not "we all lose."

That would make it seem like I'm with Bruce Willis in Armageddon. I think it goes without saying those who have enjoyed Madden in the average state (IMHO) it has been in will still enjoy this year's title. Easily better than the others... With the amount of content in the game...

Yeah, this is getting ridiculous now.

Ian did explain how it works earlier in the thread. The cpu AI plays according to its difficulty level and the adaptive part just lowers or raises your sliders to either handicap you or give you a boost. There's not really anything complex going on, it's just a handicap system.

Re: New and More Sliders!!

There's not too much to say about this mess until the game is out but it appears once again EA seems to want to pretend that user control and customizability aren't priorities. A recurring theme in their games is that they want them to be played a certain way and it just seems to me that the exact opposite philosophy should be employed. Particularly with sports games different players see different results and locking them into some sort of predetermined adaptive AI is a recipe for failure in many instances. I'm sure it will work just fine for some but for others it will be irreparably broken. It's bad design plain and simple no matter how anyone here or at EA wants to spin it or explain it. There's no one to listen and no one to care enough to force any change so here's to another predictable outcome and more complaints to be buried in near endless threads. Cheers.

Now I read this.

Unless I hear this is not the case, I will not be buying Madden either.

First time in probably 15 years that I will not be purchasing a new iteration of an EA football game.

Even bigger, as I don't see anything else on the EA release calendar that interests me, it looks as if 2008 will be the first year since 1993 that EA will not receive a single dime from my wallet.

I doubt that I am alone in this.
Same here! I will not buy this or NCAA this yr. Although NHL2009 will be bought day one! That game as well as the Show will keep me occupied just fine. I was looking forward to both NCAA and Madden!

Re: New and More Sliders!!

I think the removal of AI sliders for computer controlled teams is an incredible oversight. But, I want to thank Ian for visiting this board and being so honest.

It's not easy to come in here and discuss this issue with such a 'rabid' fanbase. I appreciate the access and it's obvious he's as bothered by the lack of CPU sliders as we are.

So Ian, thanks again.

Re: New and More Sliders!!

Okay, if what I'm hearing is correct it does seem that we can (IF THEY WORK) affect the game with sliders the way we need to. Cpu can't run the ball. Adjust break block, run D reaction time, and tackling. Should do the trick. Cpu passing too accurate. Like Bill said when he used his IQ which was low in pass defense, the cpu QB percentage was fine, just too many picks. Can you adjust the int slider from there? If so, maybe problem solved. If not between pass rush and DB reaction time it seems as though we could make those work. I also switch and swat on defense so hopefully that will help as well. The craziest thing is I've gone to default Heismann on NCAA and that's been working out pretty good for me (I've learned to ignore a few things but, all in all I'm okay with it).
