For the record, I thought the adaptive AI thing, at least in the demo, seemed like a good new idea executed fairly well. Granted, you can't play defense in the demo, though. I enjoyed the demo on the whole, to be honest.

On a similar but unrelated note, I am still very satisfied with NCAA, though I do wish the front-four pass rush was a little better and block-breaking in general was a little easier.

Just for my personal recapping purposes: suppose when I get the game, I do the Madden IQ test, and after a couple of games I decide the CPU quarterbacks are playing too good. What are my options? Is there an option to lower the baseline CPU difficulty in only their passing offense? Or would I increase the human knockdown slider? Or what? Just curious.

Well I just played the Madden 07 Demo. Yes I said 07. Then I played the 09 demo. I feel much much better. I gotta say that the defense is ferocious. I tried screwing around and running back 30 yards with Eli and I got destroyed. Tried doing the same on running plays. All that zig zag stuff and I got destroyed. The Defensive AI is great in the demo. If this translates to the final version I think we will all have some really fun games.

I am confident that the day 1 patch will address the robo QB. If thats the case then this game might play pretty well on default. I am assuming that the AI when the human controls the defense will be similar to the cpu defensive AI.

Anyway big props to Ian for hanging in there and answering questions. Maybe we are all getting crazy for nothing here.

I would think the AI for the human would depend on how well they did on the Pass Defense Madden IQ test...unless of course you're talking about the stock difficulty levels.

I came into my room, hopped on the computer for a quick check of the boards before going to bed, and over an hour later I've gone through 51 pages. At least I've had some good laughs reading some of the posts.

I dunno, for me I guess I'll give Head Coach a try this year. I really have tried to look pass the robo qb in NCAA and I just can't. I haven't touched the game in a week, who would of thought that a game I was so excited about would sit on the shelf. The glimmer of hope is that there might be something in day 1 patch to save this, just a bummer they aren't allowed to talk about it.

Now that I'm caught up I am going to bed, and surely will have 50 more pages to try to get through before work. Oy vey...

Ok. After playing the demo some more now, this game might be salvageable if at least the human sliders work. My receivers are dropping way too many open passes. And I mean wide open, no cpu player deflected them. It might be because I scored all Madden on pass and rush offense? Also I am noticing that with only a front four rushing me, I can just scramble to one side of the field and have all day to pass, almost like NCAA. When they blitz, I definitely feel the heat though. Another reason I hope the catching sliders work is because I have already been intercepted several times off of the wide open deflections. I will definitely get tired of that. It really sucks that we can't try defense to really see if we will need working cpu sliders. I'm on the fence about this game. Very disappointing.

Seriously. For the first time in 5 years I was semi excited for Madden.

I really hope they patch NCAAs issues. Oh well, back to APF2k8 for another year.

Maybe the game will be so good that the game doesn't need CPU sliders?

Bill Abner says he doesn't really play defense, just dl and doesn't switch mid play.

Personally, I find the game more realistic if i'm constantly switching to the closest player to the ball every time.

I unno, I respect Bill's opinions and for the most part correct. However, I don't take his word as gospel.

I've found in ncaa, that if i user control on defense, i have far more success stopping the passing d than letting the cpu do it on heisman.
