Madden 09: Whats your play style?

Offense: most people say that "a team starts with the QB". Well Im a Redskins fan and I havent had a great QB in a while (no offense J. Camp) so I usually design my whole offensive scheme around my teams strengths.

S.Moss: isnt the tallest WR but he sure is quick and hitting him across the middle early and often is what I aim for.

C.Portis: is he a Marshall Faulk? No.
Is he a M. Westbrook? No.
but he is pretty decent in terms of catching in the flats and I look to him to keep my drives going even when Im not running the ball much.


Defense: I center my whole defensive strategy around my CB's. So having good CB's is a must. I wont play with a team unless I know I can trust my CB's because I depend alot on man Defense.

The LB's on the other hand have to be good tacklers I know guys who dont care about their tackling ability (because they user tackle anyway) as long as they can cover in zone packages. Not the case with me though.


User: On defense I use the Safeties. I feel like I have more control over the whole defense as long as I have the safety. I dont usually fall for play-action and I pretty good at user picks and tackling.

Playbooks: I've been using the St. Louis Rams playbook exclusively since Madden 2002 "greatest show on turf era", but this year Im strongly considering using the Redskins playbook since they are implementing the West Coast offense. I just hope they have good 4wide and 5wide packages because thats a must in my offense.


Maybe I've been a little too specific, so you guys dont have to get as specific as I did.

Well first off as an Eagles fan I'm offended to see that you have Westbrook's first name wrong.....lol...It's Brian not "M".........lol....

Now with that being said, I'm very particular about my playing style.....First off, I use westbrook but I don't base my offense around him (like the real birds do)...Second, I like a power running game so I always try to make a trade or draft a power runner. My playbook choices are usually St Louis or the Steelers. On defense I run the 3-4 D...usually after I get me some fast linebackers and a big time Nose Tackle...

I play with the DE or the MLB most of the time on defense. On offense, I use the running game to set up the passing game....so I use a lot of play action, bootlegs etc... My defensive strategy is mostly focused on my front 7....I love rushing the passer (they call me baby Jim Johnson), so I usually try to draft fast linebackers and finesse move DE's....There you have it....You know all my secrets now I must kill you....lol j/k.

3-4 defense? I cant use that for ish...lol

I tried before even with teams who naturally run it. But I cant stop the run without committing to stop the run. It throws me off every time.

sorry about the M. lol. But who cares he plays for the Eagles...lol.

Dude once you master the 3-4 D you won't want to go back.....Of course you have to have the right players to run it.....Like I said, I make sure I draft linebackers that are at least 80 speed......I also look out for their coverage skills as well.....My D line has to be a combination of size and speed (especially the DE's). Last year, after my second year of Franchise I had the following lineup: ROLB= Briggs, MLB= Vilma, MLB= Gaither, LOLB= Arrington (haha former Skins)....My D line was Umenyiora, Bunkley and a generic player that was rated 85 speed and was a Finesse D lineman....I was unstoppable on D. It's all about having linebackers that can cover and rush the passer and a D line that can put pressure on the QB and stop the run. It takes some time to get used to it....but I love the 3-4 defense dude.

I'm with ya on the 3-4, I always try for it. I've been using the Texans the last couple years (I'm a Cowboys fan, but htey've become too good to play with...I like to build a team up at least a little bit) which makes it tough since they've built for their rush to come from DE's. Maybe I'll use Miami (talk about rebuilding) as I know Parcells and co. are all about the 3-4.

On offense, I'm sort of a "take what they give me" type. I try to establish the run, hit some short passes and ocasssionally stretching it deep. Maybe if I use Miami they'll suddenly have a certain "retired" QB want to join up and make a run at mediocrity

I tend to run a lot since i use the vikings. Then i throw in some play action. I also look forward to going deep with Bernard everyone in awhile. On defensive not sure what i do but i think i going work on getting pressure with Allen and Williams. I have decent corners but the less they have to do the better i am off.

I love to pass. but if it aint working, why do it. but i love to base my offense off of good recievers and an accurate QB to give it to them.

on the Defense i love to man to man. zone never seems to work out for me, and that 2 man coverage is beastly. always have someone over the top so you don't get beat deep, and if you have great Man 2 Man (Asomugha and Hall) its going to be hard to pass against us.

so im a big pass offense and defensive guy!

funny thing is though, even though i love to pass, my running game is stronger so i tend to do it more just to get the win.
