Re: Followup on the Gang Tackling Response

First off, I just want to thank you for taking your time and doing this for us Ian. I really think this game is coming along geat. I dont know how far along you are in the development process but I really wish you guys could make the crowd noise/interaction better.

The pre, post, and halftime show would be great but if you could just make the crowd more realistic I think that would do wonders. Is this something that could be worked on before the release of 09? Once again thanks so much for everything.

Someone said it before, I went from not buying (maybe renting), to definitely buying it and telling my friends to reconsider buying it now. Thanks for joining the OS Community Ian!
No, the button-based tackle breaking is not in NCAA. We actually did this on purpose...we did a lot more stuff under the "wide open gameplay" moniker by actively using our new tackling system to create a much more robust overpursuit and underpursuit system. So you can't make guys miss with buttons in NCAA...you make them miss by making them take bad angles. So it doesn't have the same thing as Madden, but I think it's actually just as cool...just a different (more collegiate) approach.

Ian

Another quick question, I know 2k and Ea have different codes but NCAA and Madden are essentially the same why not incorporate these features in NCAA also, wouldn't be just copy paste I know Im making it sound easier than it is but NCAA would be that much better with all this stuff.

Oh and PLEASE IGNORE the morons that just say crap and you know who they are, WE REALLY DO APPRECIATE THE WORK YOU ARE DOING !

Wow.

Remembers all the "EA doesn't listen to us" talk from the very recent past.

Glad to see the improvements. It's looking great.

One major request:

Please QC test the hell out of this game before its retail release. No b-words (rhymes with rugs).

I'd like to post that vid...it was a pretty nasty hit.

That gives me an idea, I wonder if there'd be any issue if they let me post mocap videos right after we capture them this year...that would be like unprecedented pre-release communication...I honestly don't see what issues it could cause. I bet you guys would be really stoked to get that super-early preview, and if you see anything you don't like there'd be plenty time to fix it during production.
That would be great. I hope you continue to visit OS until the next batch of systems are released. This kind of interactivity between developers and hardcore guys like guys here on OS can help make Madden the football title alot of us have dreamed about.

The RB logic is off. No RB in thier right mind is going to stop and let a defender hold them up while another guy finishes them off. Those "guy looks like he got hit by a mac truck" animations happen too often. The natural tendency for a RB is to lower there shoulder on contact and get behind their pads for the upcoming hits. APF 2K8 is pretty damn good in this regard, they're tackles look so realistic because they could actually happen in that scenario. You don't get cleaned up unless the defender has alot of momentum or it is unexpected by the ball carrier. When engaged in the tackle, ball carrier "brace" in that game for coming hits. There is none of that here.
This sounds like good feedback for future motion capture. Can you provide some video examples of what you mean so I can have it for reference?

Hey Kev - your issues that you posted yesterday have not been addressed yet. So basically the build I captured this video from has no differences in logic (in terms of blocking) from the build yesterday. I sent your videos down though so they are working on that kind of stuff as we speak.

Sounds great, You dont know how much I appreciate it. Like I said, I replay about 95% of the plays that happen in Madden..And I hate seeing suction blocking.

Thanks for the effort, it makes a huge difference.
