Re: Swimming

Lotche isn't even 2004 Phelps for that matter.

Oh and good job NBC spoiling the women's 100m Backstroke before showing it thanks to a Today Show commercial.

Lochte is faltering under pressure.

I do find it amusing when guys say "no one trained harder than me."

Unless you were there with them, you don't really know.

Re: Swimming

Now I can say it without spoilers. I really hope that USA Track and Field is not as disappointing as the USA swim team and to a degree gymnastics (although that top two rule is awful) has been.

So the US needs to win the 400m.

(JA-MAI-CA! JA-MAI-CA! JA-MAI-CA!)

It was nice to see a Jamaican finish 4th in the Womens's 100m breaststroke. That's the next sport we need to move in on. Hell, we're on a freaking island, we should do great.

The Men's Gymnastics team was awful. Awful. Awful.

Those guys crumbled after one mistake and just let it pile on.

Congrats to Britain for winning their first medal. I woke up this morning wondering what the Ukraine headlines must be saying about Japan.

edit: Sorry, this is a swimming thread. Definitely forgot.

Re: Swimming

I feel you on Phelps, Rob since I know very well how he's been treating his body the last 4 years, lol. But his interviews take away any ill will I'd have for him. He's basically come out and said last time he was motivated to make history and this time is really just having fun. He's not out there pumping his chest like Lotche and he doesn't need to... he's already done his work. They keep trying to bait him too, going overboard with some of the questions imo. I've got respect for the guy even if I'm reaching for my check and the door when I see him walk into whatever bar/club/restaurant I may be at.

With that said, his silver medal performance was just disappointing. He had that race locked up and just got lazy at the end. Again, he said he got lazy in the interview and had done it in practice too, so props for his honesty, and props for winning a silver which is nothing to sneeze at, but that was disappointing.

That Men's 100m freestyle was pretty exciting. No idea how he got in there first.
