Re: New York Islanders (NHL 09)

Dallas Stars vs NY Islanders (10/23/08):
On a delayed penalty, Isles cycle puck in offensive zone. With traffic in front of Turco, Gervais rips one past a screened Turco to go up 2-0. "We had the extra attacker out and wanted to get in front of Marty and cause some havoc. We did just that. With Tambellini skating across the fron of the net, that was my opportunity to get one off. Its was a great shot and a great screen. - Gervais on his goal. But, that would be one of the last chances we would have as Dallas picked up the pressure. With a mad scramble in front of DiPietro, Jere Lehtinen takes advantage and puts it top shelf to get with one, 3-2. "I never seen it." - DiPietro on Jere Lehtinens goal.

Islanders would get another one as Dean McAmmond gets the pass from Martinek, spins past the defender and slips it top shelf. Just seconds later, Brad Richards would put Dallas up 4-3 with the eventual game winner.

Dallas beats the Islanders 5-3

Re: New York Islanders (NHL 09)

The Rivalry

NY Rangers vs NY Islanders (10/27/08):
The rivalry. Rangers/Islanders. First meeting between the two this season. "What can I say! They hate us and we hate them. They've had the more success of recent years, but thats about to change. We have a great young team and very young, but talented prospects in the minors. Thats more then they can say!" - Veteran Doug Weight on the Rangers... Should be a classic.

This game was a tight one the whole way. There were lots of bone-crunching hits from both sides. And a lot of defense to go around.

In the first period, Brendan Witt's shot is blocked but Lundqvist gives up a huge rebound as Doug Weight backhands it past him to go up 1-0. In overtime tied at 1-1, Chris Drury knocks one of the post. "I thought it was in. I am dumb-founded as to how that puck stayed out. Ill have to look at the tape." - Chris Drury on his chance to win it in OT. Minutes later, Doug Weight had his chance to end it as well, but he clanked it of the junction. In the final minute, Witt almost had the winner himself. His shot from the line would go wide. But it would take a weird bounce and come right back at Lundqvist. He almost put it in his own net as it just missed deflecting of his skate and in. Tied at 1-1, we would go to a shootout...

NY Islanders vs Philadelphia Flyers (10/30/08):
Yes people, its Devils night(too bad we're not playing the Devils, HA ). Would we see some bad blood between these team or just a plain ol' good game? If you answered the later part, you'd be right. BUT, you dont get anything for being right.

Just before the first period ends, Dean McAmmond puts a wrister on net and beats Martin Biron blocker side. isles up 1-0. However in the second period, Biron gets his revenge. As McAmmond come around from back to the front of the net, he sends a pass to the opposite side of Biron where Mike Sillinger is waiting. Sillinger gets the puck and fires. BUT Biron has other things on his mind as he makes a fantastic saves on Sillinger, "I have no idea how he got from his left to the right so quickly. I was sure I had an empty net waiting for me. Martin made a hughe save and you have to give him credit for that." - Sillinger on getting robbed by martin Biron. Jeff Carter would get them within one as he puts one past DiPietro off of a rebound, (Power Play).

Islanders beat the Flyers 2-1.

3 stars of the game:
1st star: Dean McAmmond (2G)
2nd star: Rick DiPietro (21 saves)
3rd star: martin Biron (23 saves)

Re: New York Islanders (NHL 09)

Montreal Canadiens vs NY Islanders (11/1/08):
Would Carey price faulter or would he step up? Could the Isles keep up with Montreals scorers or would they get blown out? Well, Price would step up in a big way as he didnt let anything past in regulation or overtime. And the Isles couldnt keep up with the snipers on Montreal in the shootout.

Carey Price said this after the game, "They had some very good scoring chances in regulation. A couple clanked of the post and my defense cleared one that got behind me. However, our snipers were just too much in the end. They're a young team. They have a lot more to learn if they wanna be contenders."

Will Carey Price's comments come back to bite him the next time these two teams face? Will these comments strike up a fued between him and the Islanders team?

The Canadiens beat the Islanders 1-0(SO)

S.Kostitsyn

Re: New York Islanders (NHL 09)

Columbus Blue Jackets vs NY Islanders (11/3/08):
Down 1-0 in the first, Dean McAmmond spins of Columbus defenseman Klesla and lifts puck just over the reaching Norrenas glove. "The guys are calling me the spin doctor now {Laughs}.Thats my "go-to" move now I guess. Its worked a couple times already this season." - Dean McAmmond on his footwork.

Late in the 2nd period, the two teams play a game of "follow the bouncing puck". Columbus wins that game. Off of a bouncing puck from the boards, Milan Michalek keeps his eye on it and puts it in past DiPietro. Nash would later put the game on ice late in the 3rd when he wrists on off of DiPietro's right arm, "That was one helluva shot. Thats one of the best wristers ive seen so far."

Blue Jackets defeat the Islanders 3-1

3 stars of the game:
1st star: Rick Nash (1G, 1A)
2nd star: Frederik Norrena (20 saves)
3rd star: Milan Michalek (1G)

Re: New York Islanders (NHL 09)

This is going well man...maybe include current record for the team and goal counts for the players.

Just some suggestions...but keep it up.
