Wings dodge a bullet
Homer alright, but out as a precaution

CHICAGO, IL - At first glance, the injury to Red Wings' forward Tomas Holmstrom looked grim. He went down in a hurry, and needed assistance getting off the ice and into the locker room.

After some routine tests there was a sigh of relief, as Homer was diagnosed with a minor groin strain.

"He's alright," coach Mike Babcock said. "If this were the playoffs he'd be good to go, but we'll hold him out for a game or two as a precaution."

In his absence, the Wings have called up speedy grinder Darren Helm from Grand Rapids. The 21-year old Helm brought an energy to the Red Wings in the postseason last year that helped them vanquish Dallas and Pittsburgh.

The Wings also brought up 24-year old defensemen Jonathan Ericsson, who will replace Andreas Lilja in the lineup for the time being. Babcock did not specify whether Lilja is injured or not.
