The Career Of Scott Quickel (NHL 09 be a pro story)

This is it, the big time. Columbus Blue Jackets Home playoff debut and its an honor to be apart of it.

Sold out crowd. Over 95% are Blue Jackets fans. The other 5% are not welcomed, yes there Wild fans.

We are i the tunnel and suddenly we heard booing. From my position in the tunnel I could see the jumbo tron. They were booing because the Wild have just taken the ice.

Than all the sudden I hear "Alright boys go get 'em!"

That was our signal to get on the ice. Steve Mason our goaltender will lead us out for the playoff debut.

All the sudden the boos went away and deafing cheers came from the stands. This is the game these fans have been waiting 9 Years for. We will have to make it a memorable one.

As I stepped on the ice the dark Nationwide Arena's spotlight went off Mason and onto me as I skated around our side of the arena. The song "We Will Rock You" played at large volumes and the fans were feeding off of the musics energy.

This will not be a quite night.

As I, Nash, Commodore, Hejda, and Peca stood at the blueline for the National Anthem the crowd got quite.

"Ladies and Gentleman, Please rise for the National Anthem sung by Columbus' own Mr. Leo Welsh!"

The crowd shouted "LEO!" before he began singing. A Blue Jackets tradition carried over into the playoffs.

After the Anthem Coach Hitchcock brought all of us together.

"Listen to them."

The sold out crowd was chanting "Lets Go Jackets!"

"This is what your going to be hearing all night long. Give them something to cheer about. Make them proud. Win this for the fans."

Everyone was listening. They knew this was our game to be won.

When we broke apart for the opening faceoff flashes off cameras was going off on all sides of the arena. They wanted to get the first glimpse of the first faceoff in CBJ Playoff history.

The puck was dropped and the game was underway.

The crowd started cheering again.

Three Two One!!!

The horn sounded and the fans went nuts.

Columbus' first playoff game was won in dramatic fashion. A shutout.

Fans were skapping the boards like they were there bitch. It was great.

All of the Blue Jackets saluted the crowd which only got them louder.

They all got quite when the 3 Stars Of The Game announcement came on

After the first two stars, which were all Blue Jackets I was up.

"Tonights first star from your Columbus Bbbbblueeeeeee Jackets is #16 Scotttttt Quickel!"

I stepped on the ice saluted the fans and took off my two gloves and threw them into the crowd. They shouted Quickel as I made my way into the locker room.

After Hitchcocks speech a man my age walked into the room with GM Scott Howson. Who is he? He seems my age

Howson stood in front of the team and said how good of a job we played he introduced the new man.

"Guys this here is Ryan Salmons. He is our new defenceman. He is a great fighter, he is fighting off terminal cancer."

Wow, we have a warrior in our locker room. This man this brave brave man is fighting off the worst disease known to man kind, and hes here to talk to all of us.

"Ryan is a big fan of our team, he has been a fan since our inagural season. So on behalf on all the Blue Jackets team and staff I present to you Ryan Salmons an NHL contract."

Ryan was happy, He couldn't stop smiling ad he signed contract and got it laminated.

"Ryan would also like to say a few words to you all."

He stood up

"Well you guys played great out there tonight. Minnesota doesn't stad a chance against our young firepower. Go Jackets."

We oined him i saying Go Jackets. He also got a picture with his favorite player, Jason Chimera.

Were going to win the next game, hell we will win the series just for Ryan Salmons.
