Re: The Career Of Scott Quickel (NHL 09 be a pro story)
The phone kept ringing and my hands kept shaking.
I guess I was standing there like and idiot for so long I almost missed the call. I hit answer just in time.
"Hhhhello?"
" Hello is this Quickel? Scott Quickel?"
" Yyyes sir who is this?"
" Well Scott im Scott Howsen General manager of the Columbus Blue Jackets. I would just like to say that we have selected you with our 2nd round draft pick. Don't let us down, we had to trade with Philadelphia to get you."
" Dddon't worry sir. I won't let you guys down. Thank you so much!"
" No problem Quick, Listen don't be nervous talking to me, or we will have a long year."
" Alright sir, im sorry. Its just its been my dream to....."
" Play in the NHL, thats what Filatov said. Well I'll see you next week for our first team meeting."
Before I could say anything Howsen hung up, Probley so I wouldn't babble on. I Was so excited I just ran out of the store with the donuts in my hand. The alarm rang.
"Listen kid either pay for those or...."
I threw him the donuts and ran out the door. All I could think of now was Columbus and hockey. I hope my parents won't be dissapointed I wasn't there.
As I came in the door my Mom came up and congradulated me. My Dad came up to me and said
"Where the hell is that milk I sent you to get?"
Just like him to always point out the negative first.
That night we all went out to dinner. The whole family kept giving me a bunch of greif at dinner making fun of Columbus as the only team to not quilify to the playoffs. I didn't care, I am in the NHL now and that is good enough for me.
