I think they were going to get crushed as far as sales and reviews go, so it was the right decision.

I hope they take another year and make the game a step up from Live 10.

I voted yes by far. I think EA are moving in a positive direction with their NBA game but considering some of the drastic changes being made they definitely need more time. The real time physics thing itself could use an extra 2 years in order to get it right. I don't think they will hold out that long, but I don't expect to see Elite 11 to hit the market. We will have Elite 12 next Fall.

On another note looking at the amazing popularity of this year's 2K11 with Jordan on the cover and the overall polish and quality of the game EA would have been crushed in sales. At least next year they will have a chance to compete.

Unless 2ksports goes all out and puts Magic, Bird, and MJ on the cover lol

They were going to get crushed in sales, but now they will get even less sales releasing it this winter. Unless they have a GREATLY improved product, which I don't think they will. I honestly would not be all that shocked if they come out a month from now saying they are not going to release any NBA product this year, they are just going to focus on making a better product for the 2011-2012 season.

There are some die hard EA fans that were going to purchase it either way, now they are going to lose some of those sales. If they did steal any 2K fans, I doubt they are going to make the purchase in winter after 2K has their bugs patched up.

i said unsure, because at least they are updating the live10 rosters for online/offline play
elite is a complete overhaul, but i wish they wouldve released it on time, although the controls in the demo are complex as hel, which if fixed and still comes out next spring,...good deal

Re: Now that the dust is somewhat settling, did EA make the right call delaying Elite

Official XBox Magazine had a review of Elite 11 in this month's edition. The game received a 5.5. Not that I always agree with reviews because it is someone else's opinion however take that review plus all of the feedback it was a great decision.

Consumer confidence is fragile, especially in this economy. To put out a game for the sake of releasing it isn't always the best move. EA did the right thing to delay it. I hope that they wait until next October to release it since a Spring release would do nothing.

It is kind of funny how I read more and more people actually liking the mechanics of the controls considering 2K's ridiculous learning curve. Too bad every other part of the game screamed PS2...

Re: Now that the dust is somewhat settling, did EA make the right call delaying Elite

On one hand, they probably would have been destroyed by the video game press, particularly compared to NBA2K11. The OXM review is the one example we have of this.

On the other hand, by not releasing alongside NBA2K11, they've undoubtedly lost lots of money in lost sales, failure to release an NBA game (wrt NBA licensing agreements), wasted advertising, and lost market share.

It's really a no-win situation unless Elite comes out and knocks peoples' socks off, and even then it may still not be enough as 2K brought the big guns this year.

I voted unsure because i think i would've checked the game out had it been released. I would just take a chance cuz 2K is garbage and now there is no NBA game for me this year. 2K is overrated, MJ on the cover doesnt make the game great ha
