Just a note, yes I know Head Coach is an EA Football game but I'm speaking merely about the traditional major football titles with this poll question

Re: Which football game from EA is the better of the two?

I was real disappointed in both games merely because they are simply not better than any game of the past generation (ps2 or xbox). You know whats really upsetting?? Going to You Tube and looking at those videos of NFL 2k5 and seeing the halftime and post game shows in that game, a game from the last generation, made FIVE YEARS AGO, and there is still not a game of football that is as good if not better than 2k5?? fact of the matter is this, A lot of us did not buy these 300-400 dollar (some paid 500 dollars) super computers/game consoles, to get mediocre games like these. Only College Hoops 2k8 and MLB 09 are the only sports games screaming Next Gen, and thats not good. I'm sorry EA, but these lame a** features like Madden IQ and EA Backtrac are all covers and DISTRACTIONS from the things thats broken in these games. IMPROVE the games, THEN add your gimmicks.
We are approaching 3 years into the next gen stage and it HAS to get better than this...

EA, is the real reason why you want to take over Take Two is to kill their games??
If anything, you need to PLAY their games to learn what it is that goes into them.
But i think the real problem is its ego, "As long as we are EA, everybody is gonna buy the game NO MATTER WHAT". With a attitude towards their games and gamers themselves like this, its no wonder why this company is not inclined to improve upon their titles.

Pissed Off Point #2: EA puts everybody else's sports divisions out of business by buying up exclusive licenses to the NFL and NCAA Football, killing all competition therefore making themselves the only game in town. Competition is good not only for the companies but great for gamers as well. EA has no competition in these areas therefore feeling there is no need to improve games that they know gamers will have to buy anyway.

We have to count on EA to give us the ultimate football experience, and EA wanted to be the exclusive content provider, therefore it is THEIR RESPONSIBILITY to deliver that experience to their customers WITH EVERY GAME. EA can afford to add some things and subtract others because it gives them a reason to convince you to buy NEXT YEARS game.

To sum it all up, Competition yielded us better games. Notice how EA tries to create better games in the other sports like basketball, hockey, even soccer. As for football, we will not get better games because their is nobody out there to challenge them. Sports gamers had better pray (If you have never done that before well now is a good time) that EA does not takeover Take Two because if they do, the sports game genre WILL DIE. All competition will cease and EA will have free reign over what ever they want to give us. EA wants to tell us they did not have time to improve this or test that, but they had time to implement 80 NEW features that some adds absolutely nothing to the games themselves. Did EA ever produce ALL 80+ NEW FEATURES on paper they supposedly added to this years games?? Do they even KNOW all 80 features or was this just a "blow smoke up the peoples ***" line marketing came up with to make us buy the games??

Yea Yea Yea.."if you dont like it, dont buy it" well what I got to say about that is as a sports gamer for over 20 years, playing RBI baseball with only 8 teams in the game and despite all its problems, STILL have fun playing to this day, if you want my 60 bucks, and you want to be the only game in town, it should be the ULTIMATE game in town and dont be fooled by the reviews of this game because madden gets high scores EVERY YEAR... as long as EA is in the press, which for some reason kiss EA's *** because of Madden, they will not care about improving their games... sad but true...

EA Sports - We care about our NAME not about the GAME.... and to them, thats all that matters..

Re: Which football game from EA is the better of the two?

I haven't paid much mind too it this year, but over the last couple years I thought reviewers were pretty hesitant to praise Madden. They, like the average consumer, are becoming more aware that the game hasn't changed much in the last 5+ years, just better graphics, new uniforms and a roster update.

The importance of reviews does have an effect on the gimmick versus real features issue though. Everyone's trying to get good reviews and to create buzz about their game, and one way to do that is to add in new features that no on has seen before. From their standpoint it's better to have some flashy features that reviewers or people who try the game in a store will notice, even if it comes at the expense of holes in gameplay that take a month to notice.

A straight answer...

I like NCAA better even though the Madden game is pleasantly faster, i like the flow of the NCAA game
