Dropping Comebacks, Rams Can't Finish Comeback
November 3, 2013
St. Louis MO

Up 21-7 at halftime, the Titans looked poised to get their second win of the season following their bye week. Then, things started to slip up and the Rams worked their way back into the game. With less than a minute remaining in the game, Kellen Clemens (in for the injured Sam Bradford) had his team in range for a tying touchdown. On a Fourth-and-Goal from inside the ten, Clemens found a wide open Brian Quick in the end zone. Unfortunately, Quick dropped the pass and the Titans sealed their second win of the season.

The scoring started early and often with the Titans taking the opening drive the length of the field in less than two and a half minutes capping off the drive with a three yard quarterback keeper from Jake Locker. Less than a minute later, the score was tied at seven following Kendall Hunter's fifty-six yard touchdown run. The Titans responded with another score when Chris Johnson found the end zone from eight yards out and it was 14-7 lead after the first quarter closed. Locker would add a touchdown through the air on a two-yard strike to Nate Washington.

The teams would trade field goals in the second half before Isaiah Pead scored from two yards out with 4:45 remaining in the game. The Rams would get the ball back just north of two minutes left and drive down the field before failing to convert on fourth down.

Injuries were the name of the game however. Kenny Britt left the game on the opening drive and did not return. Chris Johnson also left the field with an ankle injury late and did not return. Brian Schwenke, the rookie center for Tennessee left as well and is expected to miss extended time. For St. Louis, a number of players left the game and returned, including second string quarterback Kellen Clemens. His replacement Austin Davis struggled, throwing two interceptions in just six pass attempts.

Jaguars Rock Titans, 42-25
November 10, 2013
Nashville TN

Maurice Jones-Drew rushed for 226 yards and three touchdowns as the Jacksonville Jaguars torched the Tennessee Titans, 42-25 for their third win of the season. Jake Locker was benched in the second half after throwing three interceptions. His replacement, Ryan Fitzpatrick, led the Titans back into the game, but threw a key interception that ended up sealing the victory for Jacksonville.

Injuries played a large role for the Titans as Kendall Wright and Delanie Walker both left the game with injuries, leaving the Titans with Nate Washington and rookie Justin Hunter as the starters for a majority of the game. Young Michael Preston had a big game for Tennessee with injuries plaguing the team reeling in a team high nine receptions for 108 yards and a score.

Yeah, a combination of a rough schedule and poor play. I just can't seem to get a groove and reel off some wins. Locker's struggling, injuries are racking up, and my depth is showing its weakness. Overall though, I'm pleased with the defensive production, but something on the offense needs to change.

Turnover Department, Titans Fall to Colts
November 14, 2013
Nashville TN

Six turnovers for the Titans resulted in a 49-33 loss, their eighth of the season. Jake Locker threw two interceptions in the first half before leaving with a dislocated shoulder. In place of him, Ryan Fitzpatrick brought the Titans back into the game, but threw them right back out of it too. Fitzpatrick had four touchdowns but threw four interceptions as well.

Despite being down 49-13 to start the final period, the Titans played hard, scoring three touchdowns [and nearly a fourth before Fitzpatrick final interception] to make the scoreboard look much different than the game played out.

Aside from Locker's injury [which trainers believe he'll start next week] Nate Washington also left the game with a hip injury and did not return.

Bironas Kicks Titans to Third Win of 2013
November 24, 2013
Oakland CA

Rob Bironas hit a 52-yard field goal with 5:33 left in the game to take a 31-28 lead and give the Titans their third win of 2013. Jake Locker threw three touchdowns and the defense forced two turnovers in the win against the 3-7 Oakland Raiders.

The scoring started early and often with Matt Flynn hitting Demarius Moore from 36-yards out to take a 7-0 lead. Shonn Greene tied the game up on a three yard run. On the next play from scrimmage Matt Flynn was intercepted by Zach Brown. Locker made them pay with a 14-yard pass to Delanie Walker. In the second quarter both teams exchanged two touchdowns and Tennessee held a 28-21 lead at halftime.

Darren McFadden would tie up the game with two yards out with 3:05 left in the third quarter. Locker and the Titans would move down the field midway through the final period to take the lead on a Rob Bironas field goal.

Titans Shock Colts, Take Second Straight
December 1, 2013
Indianapolis IN

Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts had been outplayed all game and were down 31-17 entering the fourth quarter. Donald Brown cut the lead in half following a two yard run less than a minute into the quarter. Rob Bironas would make the lead ten with 3:31 left in the game following a 27-yard field goal, his second of the game. Luck and the Colts rallied back and with 1:50 left, were within three following Luck's second touchdown of the game. Following a three-and-out for Tennessee, Luck and the Colts got the ball back. After an amazing grab by the ageless Reggie Wayne put the Colts in range. On fourth down, Dustin Hopkins hit a 49-yard field goal to tie the game at 34-all with just eleven seconds left.

With two timeouts remaining the Titans had a great return to nearly midfield with just six seconds left. Locker dropped back and found a wide open Justin Hunter streaking across the field. Hunter ran up field and darted out of bounds at Indianapolis' 35-yard line with just one second remaining. Bironas lined up and drilled the 52-yard field goal as time expired for the unexpected victory. "It's great to come out here and steal a win," Hunter said after the game. Locker was a bit more humble, "I'm just shocked, with 6 seconds left, I didn't expect something like this to happen. What a great kick by Rob."

Tough way to start the year, but looks like maybe Greene will have to earn that paycheck with Johnson out.

I've been overly disappointed with Greene to this point. It's a shame his contract is so extensive, a release just doesn't seem like a good idea.

It has been a rough year though, with injuries and just poor play. I have seen some positives thus far, so I'm expecting 2014 to be a better year where I may actually be competitive.

Thanks for following.
