Man Capital is a machine. Absolutely destroying everyone!
Yes, yes they are. Their offensive line is so dominant, that's why their run game has been so good. Plus, Timmons is straight beastly.

Are you watching or playing each of these games?
Watching CPU vs CPU. I'm too good against the AI to play, I don't want to skew the games. I would love to take over South Texas/Heartland A&M since the CPU does not run the option correctly at all, but I'm just letting it play out.

Week 4: Gulf Coast @ Kansas State

Kansas State RB Daniel Thomas (#8) outruns Gulf Coast CB Jamar Ruffin (#18) for an 80-yard TD catch. Thomas accounted for 3 TDs in the Wildcats' 66-0 blowout.

Kansas State blanks Gulf Coast 66-0
C-USA Football News

What a painful way to plummet back to Earth.

The Gulf Coast Dolphins looked completely lost on the road this weekend, getting shutout 66-0 by the Kansas State Wildcats. The Wildcats got a 412-yard, 5-TD performance from QB Carson Coffman and 3 TDs from RB Daniel Thomas in the blowout win.

"Wow. Umm, not a lot to say about this," Coast head coach Josh Thomas said after the game. "We just looked awful out there. It was pretty embarrassing. All I can say is that is was non-conference, so it doesn't count much. We do have a lot to work on before our 1st conference game, though."

It was a very surprising off day for the Coast offense, which has ranked in the top half of the new Conference USA in offensive production. The Dolphins only managed 323 yards of offense, lost 4 turnovers and didn't even reach the red zone. Defensively, they were much worse. They allowed over 600 yards of offense and couldn't stop KSU at all.

Coffman threw 3 TDs and Thomas scored on a 19-yard TD run as KSU built a 35-0 halftime lead. In the 3rd quarter, Coffman fired 2 more passes and the Wildcat defense returned a fumble for a TD. With the score way out of reach and Coast never threatening, Thomas scored another TD in the 4th quarter and Coffman led a final drive late that was capped off with a field goal to complete the scoring.

Coffman threw for 412 yards and 5 TDs on 22-of-38 passing and was picked off only once. Thomas rushed for 159 yards and 2 TDs on only 14 carries, but also added an 80-yard TD catch. Defensively, FS Emmanuel Lemur recorded 14 tackles and 3 Wildcat defenders tallied a sack each.

For Coast, senior CB Jamar Ruffin was the lone bright spot with 8 tackles and an interception. Offensively, sophomore QB Ryne Guillory only completed 17-of-40 passes for 270 yards and was picked off twice. RB Robert Franklin managed only 66 yards on the ground.

Week 4: FCS Midwest @ Heartland A&M

Heartland A&M FB Chris Henley (#38) leads the way for wingback Victor Wesley (#29) on a 41-yard TD run. Henley and Wesley were two of three 100-yard rushers for the Aggies in their 69-28 win.

Ugly, but Heartland A&M earns first win in blowout
C-USA Football News

The Heartland A&M Aggies finally put their first win in the standings with a 69-28 home victory over an FCS squad. The Aggies ran for over 600 yards, recorded 5 sacks and 3 turnovers but they looked very sloppy with ball security and shaky on defense despite facing a much-lower talented team.

"We still have a lot of things to work on," head coach Greg Daniels said after the game. "Offensively we are still too careless and defensively we are not communicating well. Conference games start up again soon and I want us to be able to compete."

The Aggies entered this game 0-3, with tough 2-point losses to Lincoln and lowly Bowling Green and squandered a 13-point lead against then-#25 Oklahoma State last week. They were finally able to get some success at home, but the issues are still there. Maybe getting freshman QB Troy Wilkins back from injury next week will help. The Aggies also have starters WB Richmond Hood, CB Joe Bright and OLB Kevin Morgan on the shelf for the next few weeks.

The Aggies gave up an 81-yard TD run on the first play from scrimmage and punted on their first possession, but they eventually settled down and caused some damage. After a Keith Baker field goal, WB Victor Wesley followed some good lead blocking by FB Chris Henley on a 41-yard TD run. On the 2nd play of the 2nd quarter, Wesley scored again from 1 yard out on a quick sweep. Another Baker field goal gave A&M a solid 20-7 lead.

But again, mistakes nearly proved costly. On an option route, QB Morris Reynolds' pitch was off-target and an FCS defender took the fumble to the end zone. It was the 6th defensive TD allowed by A&M this season. Despite the error, A&M still led 20-14 at the half.

The 3rd quarter proved to be the difference for A&M. After a fiery halftime speech by Daniels, the Aggies appeared a little more angry and focused. Just 2 plays after halftime, Reynolds broke free on an option keeper and raced 84 yards for a TD. On the ensuing drive, CB Tyrone Bass picked off a pass and the Aggies scored again on the following drive. The rout was on.

Following an FCS touchdown, A&M scored 3 unanswered TDs to close out the quarter. FS Brendan Gibbons took an interception to the house, Wesley scored on a 35-yard scamper and junior WB John Wilcox scored his 2nd TD from 33 yards out.

In the 4th quarter, FCS scored again to make it 55-28 but the game was already out of reach. A&M worked the clock on the ground and Henley was able to find the end zone twice in the final minutes to close out the scoring.

Henley was the main force in the Aggies' 606-yard output. The bruising FB ran for 276 yards and 2 TDs on 17 carries. Wesley added 107 and 3 TDs, Wilcox piled up 125 and 2 TDs and Reynolds finished with 98 and a TD on 20 carries. The junior QB, who has been very inconsistent filling in for the injured Wilkins, finished only 2-of-12 passing and threw an interception.

Defensively, the DT tandem of Brandon Ashley and Drew Mathis each recorded 2 sacks.

Week 4: Ohio @ Minnesota State

Minnesota State RB Johnny Alston (#26) covers up the ball and avoids the tackle on this 9-yard TD run. Alston ran for 236 yards in the Screaming Eagles' 51-44 win.

WOW! Screaming Eagles win 2nd straight in shootout
C-USA Football News

It does not take long for head coach Hayden Fox to make an impact.

The Fox-led Minnesota State Screaming Eagles, who re-hired the coaching legend in hopes of turning around a once-proud program, took another big step in their rebuilding project with a 51-44 shootout home victory over the Ohio Bobcats. MSU rallied back from a 27-6 early deficit and scored the game-winning TD through their defense to improve to 2-2.

"I just can't say enough about how hard these boys fought for the win tonight," Fox said after the game. "They looked at that scoreboard and said no way they were gonna lose like this again. They battled back, we got some lucky breaks and pulled it out in the end. Awesome, just awesome."

Things looked very bleak early for MSU as the visiting Bobcats built a big lead. QB Boo Jackson threw a TD pass and RB Donte Harden ran for two 60+ yard TDs as Ohio led 27-6 midway through the 2nd quarter. But the Screaming Eagles began to crawl back and they did most of their damage on the ground with RB Johnny Alston.

Alston, who has been starting in place of injured senior RB Marcus Wallace since Week 2, again shined for MSU. With his team in a big hole, Alston answered the call with a 74-yard TD run to jump start the MSU rally. The teams traded field goals to the end the first half with Ohio still up 30-16, but the seeds of a comeback were sewn.

The 3rd quarter was all MSU. Backup RB Aaron Turner punched in a 4-yard TD, sophomore QB Daniel Harley threw a TD pass and Alston scored again from 9 yards out to put the Eagles up 37-30. The Bobcats squad could only look on in disbelief as the rebuilding Eagles were suddenly in position to win.

But Jackson wouldn't let Ohio go down that easily. The senior QB threw two 40+ yard TD passes in the 4th quarter to give the Bobcats the lead again at 44-37. But unfortunately, Jackson and the Bobcats' luck ran out. With just over 3 minutes remaining, Harley again found the end zone to tie the game at 44. Then, just over 20 seconds later, Jackson made a very costly mistake.

Jackson took an option route and tried to squeeze a pitch between two defenders, but the ball ricocheted off an Ohio player and into the arms of MSU SS Anthony Bowers. Bowers raced 36 yards untouched to put MSU back ahead 51-44. Jackson drove Ohio into MSU territory following the score but the drive failed on 4th down.

Alston ran for a career-high 236 yards, his 3rd-straight 100+ yard game, and 2 TDs on only 23 carries. Turner added 48 yards and a score. Harley has a solid game passing with 227 yards and 2 TDs on 20-of-31 attempts with only 1 interception. WR Geremy Merrick led MSU with 70 yards receiving and scored the game-tying TD.

For Ohio, Jackson threw for 322 yards and 3 TDs, but less than 50% passing and 2 costly turnovers hurt the Bobcats' chances. Harden ran for 173 yards and 2 TDs on only 15 carries, while WR Steven Goulet had 112 yards receiving and 2 TDs. Defensively, the Bobcats recorded 4 sacks and forced 3 turnovers.

Week 4: South Texas @ Rock State

Hard-hitting Rock State SS Tim Neal (#26) knocks the ball loose from South Texas FB Jason Greco (#46) midway through the 4th quarter. The Blue Storm recovered this turnover and forced several more in their 27-3 win.

Rock State slams South Texas 27-3 thanks to ferocious defensive effort
C-USA Football News

After a week of humiliating expert opinions and reports, the Rock State defense decided to shut somebody up.

The Rock State Blue Storm held the South Texas Gunfighters to only 160 total yards and forced 5 turnovers in a dominating 27-3 home conference victory. Their defense, which entered the contest ranked near the bottom of the country in several major categories, ravaged the Gunfighters' option attack and put them back in the conference title race.

"I hope after today that nobody disrespects our defense again," senior SS Tim Neal said after the game. "All week we heard about how our defense has cost us the last 2 games, about how disappointing we've been... We had heard enough. We thought this week would be a great time to show off a little muscle."

Show off muscle, indeed. The RSU defense hounded QB Jerome Nealy and the usually-explosive STU backfield, holding their option offense to only 33 rushing yards. Nealy managed exactly 1 yard, while starting WBs Reggie McKinley and Vernon Powers were held in the negatives. Not only that, but the Blue Storm forced 3 fumbles and picked off Nealy twice. It was a performance many had been waiting to see.

The RSU offense, which entered the game as the C-USA's top performing unit, had an average day but they didn't have to do much. They totaled 421 yards and scored all 3 TDs on the ground. Redshirt freshman RB Kevin Simpson opened the scoring late in the 1st quarter when he took a pitch and basically walked into the end zone from a yard out. The teams fought hard through the 2nd quarter, but RSU was able to manage a Ken Coe field goal as time expired. The Blue Storm led 10-0 at the break.

In the 3rd quarter, RSU broke the game open. Coe nailed a 46-yarder midway through, and on the following possession CB Nate Steele picked off a pass. Seconds later, slot WR Adam Hollis took a sweep play, broke a tackle and raced 36 yards for a TD. Up 20-0, the game was out of reach.

South Texas capitalized on a QB Claude Grimes interception but could only manage a Monte Perez field goal. Midway through the 4th quarter, the Blue Storm put the final touch on a bruising win when backup RB Joseph Brant powered his way to a 6-yard TD run.

Simpson led the offense with 87 yards rushing and a TD on 21 carries. Brant added 66 and Hollis chipped in 43, with each finding the end zone. Freshman QB Grimes, who has been lighting up the passing stats lately, had a quiet 223 yards on 18-of-27 passing with an interception. Defensively, Neal led the team with 8 stops.

For South Texas, Nealy threw for 127 yards but only completed 9-of-17 passes and was picked off twice. FB Jason Greco led the team with 31 yards rushing and 44 yards receiving. Defensively, OLB Calvon Frazier recorded 9 tackles including 5 for a loss.

Week 4: Baylor @ Southwestern

Baylor FS Tim Atchison (#8) reacts after intercepting a pass in the 4th quarter against Southwestern. The Bears' defense forced 4 turnovers in their 35-17 win over the Blaze.

Southwestern loses to Baylor, falls to 0-4
C-USA Football News

The Southwestern Blaze made crucial mistakes on both sides of the ball, falling behind 21-3 and failing to even make a threat in a 35-17 home loss to the visiting Baylor Bears. Junior QB Robert Griffin III threw for 269 yards and 3 TDs to help Baylor improve to 3-1 on the year.

With the loss, Southwestern opens their first season at the FBS level with a dismal 0-4 mark. Head coach Jimmy Kelp didn't have much to say after the game, just commenting that the Blaze "still have a lot of work to do." The Blaze have finished their non-conference schedule and will begin C-USA play next week.

The two teams showed tough defensive efforts early, but SWU was able to get on the board first with a Kevin McKinley 44-yard field goal. Minutes later, Baylor was finally able to take hold of the momentum when Griffin III found WR Kendall Wright up the left sideline and Wright tip-toed the line for a 45-yard TD catch. With that score breaking Baylor out of their slump, their offense began to roll.

Midway through the 2nd quarter, RB Jay Finley capped off a scoring drive with a 7-yard run and barely over a minute later, Griffin III fired a 42-yard TD pass to give Baylor a 21-3 lead. Later in the quarter, the Blaze were finally able to find the end zone when QB William Harper found WR Andy Benson on a 29-yard TD hookup. But just when things were looking up for the Blaze, disaster struck again.

Driving for possibly a late score, Harper was running a no-huddle attack. But his offensive line allowed a rusher to get through and Harper was hit as the pass left his hand. The ball bounced off a lineman and into the arms of Baylor defender Anateris Bryan, who returned the turnover 48 yards for a huge TD. The Bears led 28-10 at the half.

Griffin III put the exclamation point on the win in the 3rd quarter with a 12-yard TD pass to WR Krys Buerck. The Blaze were unable to make a dent until the 4th quarter when RB Marquise Booth snuck into the end zone from 1 yard out.

Griffin III threw for 269 yards and 3 TDs on 20-of-27 passing and only suffered 1 interception. Wright was his favorite target, catching 7 passes for 113 yards and a score. Finley added 77 yards on the ground.

For the Blaze, Booth eclipsed 100 yards for the 3rd game this season. He finished with 112 on 22 carries and a TD. Harper struggled passing the ball despite 290 yards. He only threw 1 TD, was picked off 3 times and completed less than 50% of his passes. Benson led the team with 6 catches for 106 yards. Defensively, OLBs Travis Bentley and Paul Spicer each recorded a sack and FS Mike Maddox picked off a pass.

Week 4: UMJC @ Louisiana Tech

UMJC WR Cedric Vogel (#87) hauls in a 2nd-quarter TD catch against Louisiana Tech. Vogel had over 100 yards receiving in the Cadets' 40-35 win.

UMJC breathes sigh of relief, holds off comeback-minded Bulldogs 40-35
C-USA Football News

It's amazing how fast the momentum can turn when the winning team gets lazy and sloppy.

The UMJC Cadets built a 34-7 halftime lead, only to see it nearly vanish but managed to squeak out a 40-35 road win over the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs. The Cadets gave up 4 turnovers, including 2 lost fumbles in the final 3 minutes, and allowed 7 sacks in a game that quickly went from blowout to nail-biter.

Senior QB Derek McGee led a high-octane 1st-half offensive performance for UMJC, throwing 3 TD passes as the Cadets built a 34-7 lead. RB Marcus Sledge also scored on a 2-yard run that put UMJC up 31-0 before the Bulldogs finally put themselves on the board. Backup QB Colby Cameron threw a late TD pass for Tech's only 1st-half score.

The Bulldogs came out singing a different tune in the 2nd half, and it was their defense that led the charge. The Tech defense began to blitz and rattle McGee, forcing him into hurried throws and knocking him down several times. One pass ended up as an interception, and the Tech offense took advantage. Cameron scrambled for 2 TDs and then threw a TD pass late in the quarter, cutting UMJC's big lead to only 34-28. The Cadets had panic on their minds.

But McGee finally settled in, leading the Cadets to another score when he hit WR Eric Lynch for a 12-yard TD. The ensuing 2-point conversion failed, but the Cadets made it a two-score game. But the Bulldogs wouldn't let up and Cameron again led the rally. With just over 3 minutes left, Cameron found WR David Gru in the back of the end zone to make the score 40-35. UMJC again felt the pressure.

On back-to-back drives, the Cadets lost fumbles deep in their own territory. Luckily, their inconsistent defense finally found their composure and held Tech out of the end zone. The key play was a recovered fumble with 40 seconds left that clinched the win.

McGee threw for 476 yards and 4 TDs, but 2 interceptions hurt and he held the ball too long on several occasions. WRs Cedric Vogel and Bryan Clancy each totaled over 100 yards receiving and a TD. Defensively, SS Eric Sullivan had 13 tackles and OLB John Watts recorded 2 sacks and an interception.

Cameron threw for 489 yards and accounted for all 5 Tech TDs. SS Tank Calais picked off 2 passes and DE Christian Lacey and OLB Jay Dudley each tallied 2 sacks.

Week 4 Game of the Week: #5 TCU @ Western Tech

Western Tech WR John Siegel (#82) reaches out for a pass against #5 TCU. Siegel caught 2 TD passes, including this one here, in the Falcons' 72-21 blowout upset.

W-Tech scores unfathomable 72 points to upset #5 TCU
C-USA Football News

And everybody thought Capital was unstoppable.

The Western Tech Falcons improved to 4-0 in very impressive fashion, destroying the #5-ranked TCU Horned Frogs at home 72-21. W-Tech led 45-0 at halftime and made a serious statement in their win.

"We just come out and play hard," W-Tech RB Thomas West said after the game. "Today we were just the better team, hands down. Even our backups scored TDs on them!"

West set the tone right off the bat for W-Tech, taking a handoff on the 2nd play from scrimmage and racing 76 yards for the game's 1st score. A few minutes later, West again found the end zone on a 3-yard scamper to increase their lead to 14. After a Joey Bradford field goal, the Falcons broke the game open. QB B.J. Humphrey fired deep and hit WR John Siegel in stride for a 45-yard TD to give the Falcons a 24-0 lead after the 1st quarter.

The 2nd quarter was all W-Tech as well. Their defense got into the action as well, when CB Thomas Leonard stepped in front of an Andy Dalton pass and took it 50 yards for a TD. Later, Humphrey capped off 2 drives with TD passes including another one to Siegel as W-Tech built a 45-0 halftime lead. The crowd was going wild while the 5th-ranked Horned Frog faithful were stunned.

The Falcon defense kicked off the 2nd half with another score, when OLB Ross East picked off a pass in the flat and rumbled 23 yards for a score. TCU was finally able to get on the board midway through when Dalton found WR Jeremy Kerley for a 49-yard TD, but it made no difference. Humphrey pushed W-Tech down the field again and Bradford finished the drive with a 46-yarder. Up 55-7, Humphrey and most of the offensive starters exited the contest.

TCU scored twice to open the 4th quarter. Dalton hit WR Antoine Hicks up the left sideline for a 42-yard TD and on the ensuing drive, a sack of backup QB Cedric Mosby forced a fumble that was returned for a TD. Unfortunately for TCU, W-Tech wasn't done putting points on the board.

Mosby recovered from the turnover to lead 2 scoring drives. He capped off the first one with a 1-yard scramble and found WR Leonard Franz for an 82-yard TD to cap off the second. Later, Bradford nailed a 3rd field goal to complete the eye-popping score total.

Humphrey threw for 335 yards and 3 TD on 20-of-28 passing before exiting the contest early. Mosby threw for 195 yards and a TD and added a rushing TD in mop-up duty. Siegel and Franz each had over 100 yards receiving and 2 TDs. West totaled 93 yards rushing and 2 TDs on only 8 carries.

Dalton threw for 248 yards and 2 TDs, but 3 interceptions fed the Falcon blowout. RB Ed Wesley totaled 109 yards rushing on 18 carries. Defensively, CB Greg McCoy had a team-high 10 tackles and picked off a pass.

The only bad news for W-Tech on this day was injuries. The Falcons lost 2 defensive starters to injury during the blowout, which might affect their upcoming performances. Top CB Marcus Manson tore a pectoral muscle and will miss 6-7 weeks, while leading tackler OLB Jamaal Whitworth will miss 2-3 weeks with a hip pointer.
