OS CAP Update

**It turns out a few guys did actually play some this season. I had been checking their stats for the first 4 weeks and they hadn't recorded any so I thought all of them were redshirted. I will make sure to do a better job of it this upcoming season

#16 QB Matt Rogers 5'10" 200 lbs Fr 75 Ovr
POCKET PASSER Cincinnati, Ohio
Penn State
Depth Chart: 5th
Career Stats: N/A
Season Stats: N/A
Last Game: N/A
2014 Summary
Rodgers was awarded a redshirt this season as he was the fifth man on the depth chart for the Nittany Lions. Fifth year senior Paul Jones (92) will be leaving this upcoming season so there will be a battle in the spring to determine who will start. The two frontrunners are rising fifth year senior Trentavious Morgan (83) and rising redshirt junior Benjamin Thomas (82). Also rising redshirt sophomore Antoine Alexander (79) is expected to make a run at it. So it appears chances are small Rodgers will see any playing time next year. If he improves he could have shot at it in two years but for now he will be at the bottom of the pecking order

#12 WR JeMarcus Green 6'4" 225 lbs Fr 76 Ovr
BALANCED Little Rock, Arkansas
LSU
Depth Chart: 5th
Career Stats: 5 rec 85 yds TD
Season Stats: 5 rec 85 yds TD
Last Game: N/A
2014 Summary
An injury to redshirt freshman Phil Simpson late in the year gave Green a chance to play early. He made the most of it in his limited role catching his first career TD pass against Ole Miss on a 33 yd bomb. Green was fortunate enough to be apart of LSU's second straight national title earning himself a ring in his first year. Unfortunately for Green all of LSU's WRs are young so there will be no automatic moves up the depth chart due to graduation and you can be sure the Tigers will sign a few more talented wide outs. But both Jason McGee (77) and Phil Simpson (76) can be passed with a good offseason

#15 WR Tyrell Coley 5'11" 163 lbs Fr 75 Ovr
BALANCED New York, New York
WEST VIRGINIA
Depth Chart: 7th
Career Stats: 1 rec 6 yds
Season Stats: 1 rec 6 yds
Last Game: N/A
2014 Summary
For some reason the Mountaineers elected not to redshirt Coley even though they used him only in blowout situations. He was able to get one catch but a year of redshirting would've done him good. His Mountaineers won the Big East in his first season and lost a tough one to Oregon in the Rose Bowl. Only stud WR Ivan McCartney is graduating so Coley has some work to do if he wants a larger role in 2015.

Lobos On The Move

Photobucket

Huge news was announced a few weeks after the end of the 2014 season. The PAC-10 formally invited New Mexico into the PAC-10 in replacement of state rival Arizona. It apparently took the Lobos AD Paul Krebs and the Lobo board of trustees one meeting for the invitation to be approved. No one was as excited as HC Mike Slaten, "This is huge for this school and all the sports programs. To now compete in a BCS conference is huge for us. When we recruit we can tell kids they will get to play in the BCS. Overall I am just absolutely thrilled." What makes this move even more interesting is that former Lobo coach Nick Redfoot is in the PAC-10 coaching the Oregon Ducks who just went undefeated in 2014 with a win in the Rose Bowl after not getting the votes needed to get into the national championship. Most of the current Lobo team was recruited by Coach Redfoot. Many of the players were angry that he had left and now they may get a chance at revenge. "The first thought that ran through my mind hearing that announcement was I can't wait to play Oregon," said rising senior CB Brian Curtis. "He left he said because he couldn't pass down an opportunity like Oregon because it is in the PAC-10. Well now look whose in the PAC-10? We coming coach!" yelled a fired up Gary Scott. In the end the PAC-10 just got more interesting. The Lobos will have to move around their schedule a bit. They will still face West Virginia next year and New Mexico State but now they would like to schedule either TCU or Utah, two teams that have become intense rivals with the Lobos.

Petrino Out At Arkansas

Photobucket

AP ~ When you go 1-11 in the SEC and then get caught bumping uglies with an assistant and then lie about it chances are very high you are gonna lose your job. That's exactly what happened in Fayetteville. What once looked like a bright future for the Hogs looks very bleak as Bobby Petrino was fired. The Hogs haven't been a threat since 2012 when a late season collapse prevented them from playing for a national championship or SEC championship. It is not all bleak for the Razorback faithful as Arkansas tabbed Oregon's OC Jay Woodson as the new head man. For the past 5 seasons Woodson has been the sidekick to coaching phenom Nick Redfoot. He spent 4 seasons at New Mexico helping build up that program and last season coached the Duck offense to the #4 ranked offense in the nation on the way to an undefeated season, PAC-10 championship, and Rose Bowl win. He brings a one back attack and rumors are he wants to implement a 3-4 defense. Petrino did land somewhere though as Colorado State decided to take a chance on the offensive genius. It will be interesting to see if he can make a splash for the Rams. UConn also made a change as Randy Edsall was let go from the Huskies. The Huskies went 3-9 and are looking for something better. They decided to tab LSU OC Steve Kragthorpe who has helped coach the LSU Tigers to back to back national titles.

2014 New Mexico Recruiting Class
Week 1
HB (#8) Craig Humphrey 5'11" 215 lbs **** BALANCED Amarillo, TX

Week 8
DT (#16) Justin Harris 6'2" 286 lbs **** BALANCED Mesquite, TX

Week 9
DT (#9) Anthony Price 6’4” 265 lbs **** BALANCED Temple City, CA

Week 10
OLB (#45) Freddie Phillips 6'4" 218 lbs *** RUN STOPPER North Fort Myers, FL

Week 11
ATH (#5) Tim Carrington 6'1" 168 lbs **** Pecos, TX

Week 13
ATH (#4) Demarcus Carver 6'1" 186 lbs ***** Sarasota Springs, FL

Missed Prospects
ATH (#8) Stephen Treangen 6'4" 187 lbs **** San Leandro, CA (UCLA COMMIT)
FS (#6) Deandre Fox 6'1" 204 lbs **** Jonesboro, LA (Fresno State COMMIT)
WR (#6) Taekwon Parker 5'11" 167 lbs **** Boaz, AL (Auburn COMMIT)

With only 8 seniors graduating the Lobos only had 8 schollies open. The result was a class of 6. However what this class lacks in numbers it more than makes up with talent. Demarcus Carver has a realistic chance of making an impact early and with the lack of depth at DT Justin Harris and Anthony Price will both see the field. It will be interesting to see if down the road such a low number of commits hurt the Lobos.

Mike Slaten's staff tried to add some big names late but all three went different ways. The most disappointing was ATH Stephen Treangen who had New Mexico and USC as his top 2. But he shocked everyone on signing day when he pulled the UCLA hat out from under the table. With their recent move to the PAC-10 the Lobos will get a chance to enact some revenge come football season.

Re: Beginner Dynasty

Lol at Alabama getting not one, not two, not three, but ALL FOUR of the top WRs in the recruiting class. Interesting to see New Mexico move into the Pac-10, the game against Oregon will be exciting to say the least.

As for my player, I kind of wish they had kept the redshirt on with the players they had in front of me as well as the fact I wasn't going to get much of any time of the field. Hopefully a strong offseason can bump me up to around an 80 or so and I can move up the depth chart.

Ya at this point most of the top 10 players are going to bama. I have no clue how they haven't won yet but I bet in the next few seasons they pass LSU.

After first week in the Around the NCAA section I'll have an updated CAP stuff. Plus I might see him against me to open the season. At this point it appears Green has the best situation to be in
