Prologue:

A consensus two time Big-Ten All-American, Rod Woodson had an iconic career at Purdue. He eventually entered the Purdue Hall of Fame in 2003. He was drafted 10th overall by the Steelers. Woodson is among the NFL's all time leaders in games played as a defensive back. In his 17 NFL seasons, Woodson recorded 71 interceptions, 1,483 interception return yards, 32 fumble recoveries (15 offensive and 17 defensive), 137 fumble return yards, 4,894 kickoff return yards, 2,362 punt return yards, and 17 touchdowns (12 interception returns, 1 fumble return, 2 kickoff returns, 2 punt returns). He holds the league record for interceptions returned for touchdowns with 12, and is tied with 11 other players for the record for most fumble recoveries in a single game (3). His 1,483 interception return yards are also an NFL record. His 32 fumble recoveries are a record amongst defensive players. His 71 interceptions rank third all time. He was elected into the 2009 Hall of Fame Class. After years of working with NFL Total Network, holding an annual youth football camp in the summer and working with the Bengals as a DB coach in the off-season, Rod ....I mean Coach Woodson as decided to begin his coaching legacy.

He opt down the chance to coach at his alma mater, to come back and run the show with Luck, the big amount of cash the Fins were willing to give him for a chance to stay close to home and coach at the next level. It's official. Stanford's new head coach is Rod Woodson. Hot Rod will be taking over the Cardinals for the 2011 season. Coach Rod during the press conference:

"It feels great to be here, I always wanted to be a head coach ever since I retired. I want to thank Stanford for the opportunity they have given me. I definitely want to continue Stanford's recent success by great recruiting, good defense, and hopefully together we can bring some titles to Stanford. Any questions?"

Woodson gets his crew started, hires Mike Singletary as defensive coordinator.

It didn't take long for Coach Woodson to get his crew ready. The coach decided to hire former 49ers coach Mike Singletary as his DC. Both Mike and Woodson are hall of famers and are considered to be one of the best defensive players.
"Mike has will, determination and can help teach these boys to become men, both on and off the field. We both share a lot of the same defensive philosophy, who gets to be the play caller has yet to be decided, Mike and I will work things out and see who gives the team the best chance to come out with the W" said Coach Woodson in his press conference.

Woodson hires QB guru Steve Clarkson as OC.

Big Ben, Matt Leinart, Gino Torreta, J.P. Losman, Matt Barkley and Jimmy Clausen are among the many successful QB's that Clarkson as tutored. Steve hopes he can continue to improve Junior Andrew Luck and have him rank as one of college football's greatest to ever play the game.
"Steve is a great guy, and very diverse coach. He ran run a spread offense, a pro style and even some option. He is a great play caller and a good recruiting pitch. A lot of QB's will love to have a chance to play for him" said Coach Woodson is his press conference earlier today.
