UB Football: Welcome to the Big East (NCAA 10)

University at Buffalo Bulls

Game: NCAA Football 10
Sliders: Playmakers' Varsity Sliders (slightly modified)
Quarter Length: 7 Mins (I seem to get 120-135 plays, so it works for me.
Recruiting: I will recruit only from pipeline states (NY, PA, OH, MD, TX, FL), ALL 5 star players from the Northeast (ME, NH, VT, NJ, RI, DE, MA, CT), and from Local Canada (Ontario) only for positions of need.
Offense: Always "Ask Corso", Defense: Position lock

This will be the Bulls' inaugural season in the Big East. I have added some Teambuilder teams, and obviously re-arranged some conferences. Here are my changes:

-Buffalo moves from the MAC to the Big East, replacing South Florida
-South Florida moves from the Big East to the ACC - Atlantic, replacing Maryland
-Maryland moves to the Big Ten, replacing Indiana.
-Indiana moves to the MAC - West, replacing Toledo
-Toledo moves to the MAC - East
-St. Bonaventure replaces Ohio in the MAC - East
-Syracuse is replaced by a Teambuilder version of themselves, giving them new uniforms and an outdoor stadium.
-Wyoming is replaced by a Teambuilder version of themselves, giving them new uniforms.
-University of Alaska - Fairbanks replaces San Jose State in the WAC
-Stewaat's Minnesota North Stars replace Minnesota in the Big Ten

My Buffalo team is a teambuilder version of themselves. I have given them new uniforms, which I will unveil along with their 2009 Schedule later today.

As far as recruiting goes, I created my son as a 3-Star MLB that I am trying to recruit. I will update my status of this as I go along each week. Hope you enjoy!

UB ANNOUNCES 2009 FOOTBALL SCHEDULE

Team's innaugural season in Big East poses rough road

BUFFALO, NY - During today's press conference with coach Turner Gill, the Buffalo Bulls unveiled some great information for the media and fans. The first of the big news is the confirmation that UB would be taking the open spot in the Big East, vacated by South Florida when they moved to the ACC. With the move, it forced the team to re-work their schedule for this year, and for upcoming years, as the conference shift has made previous commitments to play other schools void. Below you can find the 2009 schedule for the Buffalo Bulls football team:

The schedule, considerably harder than the one previously slated for the Bulls while in the MAC conference, poses an away game at Nebraska, and a home game against ACC powerhouse Miami. UB will also continue a rivalry game, opening the season with Temple at home, and they will begin a new rivalry. Coach Gill announced the creation of a new rivalry game with Syracuse, nicknamed the "Thruway Throwdown." The winner of the contest each year will win a trophy shaped as a Golden Wheel. The logo commemorating the event is below:

Currently, the teams have played four times in their history, all won by Syracuse. Buffalo has only been competitive in one of those games, losing in 2007 at The Carrier Dome 20-12. The average margin of victory in the four games is 28 points.

The third and final announcement of the press conference was the unveiling of the new uniforms the team will wear for the upcoming season. The team will keep the helmet they have used for the past 3 seasons. The normal home and away are a classic look, with modern touches on the leg striping, and the logo on the jersey. These will be worn 10 times per year, with the other two games reserved for their alternate jerseys.

The alternate uniforms will be worn a maximum of twice a year. They are a home and away version of the uniforms worn by the 1958 UB team. The 1958 team was the first UB football team to get invited to a bowl game, The Tangerine Bowl to play Florida State. Due to a rule of segregation by the stadium in Orlando, the Bulls would only be allowed to play the game if their two black players would not play. The team stood their ground, and refused the offer to play in the bowl game. Buffalo would not be bowl eligible for 50 years, until they played in the International Bowl last season against Connecticut.

This season, the Bulls will wear the Blue jerseys against Syracuse, who will be wearing white versions of the 1959 uniforms that were worn by Heisman Winner, Ernie Davis. They will wear the White versions on Thursday, November 12 when they play at Rutgers.

The Bulls open their season this Saturday, October 5 at 12:00 against Temple. For tickets, visit http://www.ubathletics.buffalo.edu/tickets/football.

Re: UB Football: Welcome to the Big East (NCAA 10)

Ok, I played my first game against Temple, but I am still working on my template for recapping the games and weeks. I should have everything done and up by tomorrow night for the first game...Once the template is done, it will be fairly quick to update on a weekly basis. Here is how it is going to look:

It will be a 3 page "Newspaper Section", set up to look like the Buffalo News.

The first page will be the game recap, Team Leaders (season), milestones, stats, and recruiting update. It will also include "stories from the game" such as How they won/lost, O and D game balls, Stat of the game, turning points, Player quotes, etc.

Page 2 will be the updated Coaches Poll, Heisman Watch, Awards watch, BCS, Big East Standings and results, and a current update of the Bulls' schedule. Basically, the biggest news around the league will be found here.

Page 3 will entirely be a preview of the week to come, documenting the strengths and weaknesses of the next opponent. There will also be predictions from Lee and Kirk.

Like I said, I hope to have the first installment up by tomorrow night, its all about getting the template set in place, then it's cake from there on out.

STARTING QB ZACH MAYNARD INJURES KNEE

Timetable for return is 4-6 Weeks

BUFFALO, NY - During the Monday morning press conference, Coach Turner Gill dropped a bombshell on the media covering the Bulls.

"Zach is going to miss some time. We had an MRI done, and it revealed a partially torn PCL. Right now, we are looking at a timeframe of 4-6 weeks, could be more, could be less. It all depends on his rehab."

Maynard, a Sophomore that beat out Freshman Cory Jergenson in the spring for the starting QB job, was injured on his first passing attempt of the day against Western Kentucky. Maynard was hit while he threw, and came down awkwardly on his left leg. The pass was intercepted. He was helped off of the field and did not return to the game. Freshman Cory Jergensen replaced Maynard and threw for over 250 yards and 4 touchdowns with no interceptions.

"It's a tough deal for Zach, but he is a competitor and he will do the best he can to get back on the field as quickly as possible. Until then, we will move forward with Cory. He had a nice game on Saturday, and we have all the confidence in the world in him. Right now, as a team, we are all focused on Nebraska.", said Gill.

Maynard was among 2 big injuries for the Bulls in Saturday's game. Senior WR Brett Hamlin was injured on a catch over the middle in the 3rd quarter. He left the game with a bruised sternum and is probable for this Saturday's game at Nebraska.

Maynard will not be traveling with the team, and will instead stay in Buffalo to continue rehab.
