(AP) Who knew QB Josh Johnson was this good? In his first career start, Johnson held a 142.2 Passer Rating, throwing for 3 TDs and running in two more scores against a very stingy Vikings' D.
Said Coach Charlie Brown, "He read the defense well. He was poised. He may be our future..."
Johnson led an arsenal attack against a defense that featured Jared Allen, Pat Williams, Kevin Williams, and Chad Greenway. He was confident in the pocket and picked the right times to tuck away and run with the ball.
While Johnson's first career start was successful, QB Brett Favre's first career start against the Aces was met with a bitter sweet ending. Favre had an opportunity to cut a 3 point fourth quarter deficit, but threw two picks in the comeback attempt.
IT WAS OVER WHEN...
QB Brett Favre threw interceptions on consecutive drives in the fourth quarter. The Aces capitalized on both INTs, scoring 2 TDs.
GAME BALL
QB Josh Johnson excelled in his first career start, throwing 21 of 28 completions for 282 yards, 3 TDs and 0 INTs. He also added two scores on 7 rushes for 54 yards.
KEY STATS
0 Turnovers for the Aces, a team that is among the worst in the league in turnover differentials... The Aces also held the Vikings to just 1 TD in the red zone, forcing the Vikings to 3 FGs in this territory.
NOTEWORTHY
RB Adrian Peterson torched the Aces' D for 202 yards on 19 carries, but the D was able to limit him to 1 TD... RB Antone Smith scored 2 TDs in his debut for Las Vegas.
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Aces will travel to Coach Charlie Brown's hometown Jacksonville Jaguars who also stand at 2-3.
LAS VEGAS ACES STATISTICS
QB Josh Johnson: 21/28, 282 Yards, 3 TDs; 7 Rush, 54 Yards, 2 TDs
RB Lorenzo Booker: 20 Rush, 127 Yards, 1 TD; 6 Rec, 72 Yards
RB Antone Smith: 3 Rush, 18 Yards, 1 TD; 5 Rec, 49 Yards, 1 TD
CB Mike Mickens: 2 Tackles, 1 INT
CB DeAngelo Smith: 2 Tackles, 1 INT
(AP) Looking at Jacksonville's roster is very scary on paper, yet their 2-3 record does not make one believe as such. After Owner/Coach Charlie Brown purchased the now defunct St. Louis Rams, players were searching for new homes. QB Marc Bulger and RB Steven Jackson landed in Jacksonville.
Jackson and teammate Maurice Jones-Drew will try to land a deadly 1-2 punch against a very staggered Las Vegas Defense which is ranked 12h in the league in rushing yards allowed and 1st in points allowed.
The Linebacker Corps. of Derrick Brooks, Donnie Edwards, Boss Bailey, and Zach Thomas must be ready against this rushing attack.
KEYS TO SUCCESS The Flop
Obviously Jackson and MJD will give the defense fits. Just trying to contain them will be a win for the D. The River
QB Josh Johnson needs to follow up his great performance against the Vikes with an even better one against the Jags. He needs to show that he can be consistent and that his first start was not a fluke. The Turn
Las Vegas is dead last in giveaways. They need to take care of the ball to secure a victory.

Aces Wild in 40-30 Win
Josh Johnson stays on fire for Vegas
(AP) Josh Johnson appears to be the real deal after his performance against the Jacksonville Jaguars, throwing for 4 TDs on 19 of 27 completions. His counter-competitor, David Garrard threw 4 INTs on 17 of 26 completions for the Jags.
While the Jaguars fell behind early on, they could have mounted a comeback with the score at 33-30 with just under two minutes to go, but they failed to recover the onside kick.
The duo of RBs Maurice Jones-Drew and Steven Jackson were held in check as the Aces D allowed just 57 yards between them - 56 from MJD.
IT WAS OVER WHEN...
Aces RB Antone Smith recovered the onside kick and ran it 33 yards to the goal line. He ran the go-ahead touchdown two plays later.

Las Vegas Signs Two Players
Play roulette with receiving core
(AP) After WR Sinorce Moss had a case of the "Dropsies" yesterday, the Las Vegas Front Office have decided to release him as well as TE Scott Chandler who had 5 drops on the season.
To fill this void, the Aces signed WR Brandon Gibson and WR/TE Rames Barden - both were released from their former teams this week. Gibson was released from the Philadelphia Eagles where he posted 5 receptions while Barden was released from the New York Giants where has yet to find playing time. The Aces will move the rookie from Cal Poly SLO to Tight End where he will start next week against the Colts.
The Aces are struggling to find their go-to receiver, as RB Lorenzo Booker leads the team with 21 receptions through six games.

Week 7 Preview
Indianapolis Colts (4-1) @ Las Vegas Aces (3-3)
(AP) Peyton Manning will try to lead the red-hot Colts against the Aces. Manning is leading the league with 1684 passing yards as Indianapolis rides a four game win streak.
The Aces secondary will have their hands full as Manning has tons of targets to choose from, including All-Pro WR Reggie Wayne and TE Dallas Clark who have 43 and 26 receptions, respectively.
The Aces may need a little luck in Las Vegas to pull this one off.
KEYS TO SUCCESS The Flop
Stopping QB Peyton Manning is like trying to stop the sun from coming up... it'll just never happen. The only defense to Manning is to put up as much points as he does. The Vegas Offense will need to come in swinging. The River
QB Josh Johnson is on a roll with 7 TDs in his first two starts. He faces a defense that is ranked 12th in defending the pass. The Turn
RB Lorenzo Booker is the X-Factor for the win. He is quietly 2nd in average yards per rush.

INDIANAPOLIS COLTS
DE Robert Mathis: Questionable
SWAMI SAYS: 30-14, INDIANAPOLIS COLTS[Reply]
(AP) FS Marlon McCree certainly made a name for himself as the Las Vegas Aces overcame a 7 point deficit in the waning minutes fourth quarter in which McCree recovered a fumble that helped send the game into OT and forced a fumble in OT to set up the game winning field goal.
McCree came up big in the fourth quarter, recovering a fumble by Colts RB Donald Brown setting up QB Josh Johnson to run for the game tying TD run with just 28 seconds left and forcing the game to go into overtime.
After the Colts won the toss and drove to the Aces 38 yard line, McCree forced a fumble by RB Joseph Addai allowing the Aces to move the ball for a Mike Nugent game winning field goal.
IT WAS OVER WHEN...
Mike Nugent connected on a 38 yard field goal in OT with 5:46 left.
GAME BALL... QB Josh Johnson was far from perfect in his third outing, connecting on just 51% of his passes and throwing his first career Pick-6, but he did lead the game with 102 rushing yards on 12 carries, including the game tying TD rush in regulation and a 25 yard scamper to set up the game winning field goal.
KEY STAT
The Aces held QB Peyton Manning to just 229 yards passing, his lowest total of the season.
NOTEWORTHY
Aces RB Lorenzo Booker was held in check to just 39 rushing yards on 14 carries... Aces OT Langston Walker will be out two weeks with an injury to his arm... K Mike Nugent missed his second extra point of the season. Look for the Aces to search for another kicker.
WHAT'S NEXT?
Las Vegas gets a present by facing the 2-4 Detroit Lions.
