The Veteran versus the Rook: Both named Matthew, but both highly different rated quarterbacks. On the Texans side, Matt Schaub is prone for the big play - but can also give into the pressure of becoming a premier quarterback in the league. Matthew Stafford, the best QB of the NFL draft, has had an up and down season - being unable to launch his '9ers to consistent victories - if it were not for his defense, he would be 0-5.

The Defense to the rescue?: Patrick Willis has grown into the role as show-stopper, this year the man from Ole Miss is on a tear with 40 tackles and 1 interception. His teammates say he is the "intangible wizard" on the field, because it's not only his stats that are solid, it's the things like motivation, tricking receivers or flying out in front of balls out of no where. Willis' counterpart would be Texans linebacker, Demeco Ryans. Ryans had 33 tackles, 5.5 sacks and 1 interception this year. The man from Alabama is already considered a veteran after 4 years in the league, two of them leading in tackles for the Houston Texans.

The Score: 21-14 Texans. A defensive battle is going to ensue with Stafford throwing at least 2 picks. Schaub is going to have one of the better completion days, but won't go over 200-yards passing. Look for the running backs, Chris Johnson (Texans) and Frank Gore (49ers) to struggle early on, but might find a lot of room receiving rather (Gore is leader in receptions with 163 yards and a touchdown).
