Here you will list your teams and Starters for each game on the schedule. It will be a 10 game regular season schedule. 2 against your division opponent and 1 against the other division. We will have 2 preseason games.

Division 1
1. 1990 New York Giants - Catcatch22
2. 1995 Dallas Cowboys - the15hunter
3. 1984 Washington Redskins - TWOSILK
4.

Division 2
1. 1994 San Fransisco 49ers - Footballschemer
2. 1975 Minnesota Vikings - Cjulloa1
3. ---
4. ---

Also when team creation is done you will have to decide which 2 formations you will primarily use from the 20 to the 20. The 2 formations you will use will be whatever you want as long as it fits the starting discription of who that team started in the box score of any of it's playoff games. (This is why I requested the team must have made the playoffs)

For example - 1993 Houston Oilers ran the Run and Shoot offense. Their lone playoff game that year against the Cheifs, they started this offensive squad.
http://www.pro-football-reference.co...9401160oti.htm

Houston Oilers Starting Lineup

Warren Moon QB
Gary Brown RB
Haywood Jeffires WR
Gary Wellman WR
Curtis Duncan WR
Ernest Givins TE

Obviously Ernest Givins is not a tight end and was a wide receiver. So from the 20 to the 20 you can run 3 formations of 4 wide receiver sets on 1st and 2nd down. However you can run whatever you want inside the 20 (Red zone and inside your own 20), 3rd down and on 2 minute drills at the end of each half..

Now the reason for all this. Well for one it allows defenses to actually scout and prepare for a team. One area that makes football video games especially like All Pro hard to simulate a real game is the inability to be able to scout an opponent and know their plays and tendancies. At least with this format you can prepare for a game and set up your defense. This league is all about preparation for each game.

mKoz26 - Bears
catcatch22 - 1958 49ers

----

I want to get some input first and see if people will be interested. Here is what I am thinking, but I will take feedback on the format if enough people are interested. I want to run a series of leagues (in sequence, not simultaneously) that cover each decade up to the 90s. But I want to make

Concept

-All teams must be pre-Super Bowl era
-No franchises can be duplicated, however you can use early franchises that no longer exist
-Make the uniforms as authentic as possible

Team Makeup

-Every team must have at least 3 offense and at least 3 defense. What I am trying to avoid is team A who has figured out how to be successful with 1 bronze HB and then loads up with 10 defensive players, or team B who decides to pick a Gold HB plus 9 or 10 other players so they can run for 11 ypc.
-1 of your Gold/Silver picks must be offense, 1 must be defense.
-You may not have 2 Golds at the same position
-You can do whatever you want with your bronzes as long as your overall team satisfies the first rule.
-We will use the True Balance Spreadsheet for making teams
-If a player already exists at the level you want him, then you can use the existing legend, just put his stats into the spreadsheet. You must use the existing player if he is at the level you want him (i.e. you can't remake a cap Gold Johnny Unitas).
-All heights and weights are to be based on either the hall of fame website (www.profootballhof.com) or on those found at www.pro-football-reference.com - positions must be the same as well though I am not particular about what side they play on (i.e. you can play a LDE at RDE if you want). Also you can make some players who are later WRs as TEs if they are listed as a "split end" or as just an "end" or as a "flanker".
-For players that played both ways, pick one side of the ball to put them on, but not both (sorry, just the limitation of the game)

Playbook - This is what I am most excited about, because I think it will be neat to have authentic playstyle for the decade we are playing.

-No Shotgun or Empty sets
-No Singleback sets
-No 3 WR sets
-The only 2 WR sets you can use are the base ones - no twins or TE flexed out wide (obviously no spread because that is 3 WR)
-You can use any and all 1 or 0 WR sets

I understand that this will result in lower scoring run-based games - that is how the game was played then.

-On Defense, 4-3, 4-3 Nickle, Bear, 5-2, 44, Goalline only (no 3-4 base sets, no Dime). 3-4 base was not invented yet.
-No Zone blitzing. This also has not been invented yet.

Playstyle

Basic sim rules apply - here is what I am thinking.

-No hot corners
-No fades - in other decades I will allow them, but it will mess up the style of play with the formations we are allowing because players will be able to use 1 route which the sim can't handle to force a deep safety over the top every play. Having 1 safety over the top all the time will be a normal and realistic expectation later, but not in the 60s and earlier. Also there are other routes you can use to exploit cover 0, like a streak, a post, a corner, a slant, etc. which the sim handles much more realistically.
-No hard count
-You can go for it on 4th and inches whenever you want, but 4th and 1 or more only on your opponent's side of the 50
-You cannot pull D-linemen off the line into coverage (goes back to no zone blitzing) and in general you have to have at least 4 D-linemen on the LOS all the time. You can use a D-lineman to manually cover a RB in the flat. That is one exception.
-No hopping after the catch
-In general be courteous, which covers not excessively quick snapping or using replays to taunt your opponent.

That is all I can think of for now, but I can add more if need be. Let me know if you are interested. I know it will entail a different type of playstyle than a normal conventional game. The point is for it to be fun and authentic to the decade, not to flex our epeens.

ACQB NFC Playoff Race

Not as intense as the AFC one, but I like the bubble watch, so here we go:

Division Leaders
1. Vikings (12-1) (clinched playoff spot)

3. Redskins (10-3)
4. Arizona Cardinals (7-6)

Wildcard
5. Philadelphia Eagles (9-4)

Not as intense as the AFC one, but I like the bubble watch, so here we go:
5. Philadelphia Eagles (9-4)
6. Carolina Panthers (8-5)
-----------------------------------
Bubble Teams
7. Lions (7-6)
8. 49ers (6-7) *but only a game back in the division
9. Bears (6-7)
10. Cowboys (6-7)

The Vikings have it easy at the top, but the Skins and Falcons are locked in Mortal Kombat for a first-round bye. On the other end, the Panthers and Eagles hold a slim edge in the Wildcard race.

This week will have serious implications for the playoff picture. The Panthers play the league juggernaut Vikings, and are likely to drop a spot. Meanwhile, the 49ers can pull within a game of making the cut by beating the Eagles. The Cardinals and Lions also face off, with the former attempting to stay above the line and the latter trying to sneak into a 3-way tie.

Based on preliminary tiebreaker calculations, it looks like the Eagles and Lions are the smart picks. For the Panthers, it all comes down to whether they can do the impossible and topple the Vikes (two simmed losses in conference kills their tiebreaker potential).

The 49ers are also a good bet, as they are in fast pursuit of the Cardinals in division.

Now here is the general team guidelines for how you can build your teams.

Here are the 3 basic rules for team choosing.

1. Between the years of 1966 and 2000 - 35 years of NFL football.

2. There must be at least 2 legends in the game that were on the team. Not neccesarily starters.

3. The team you choose has to be a playoff team.

If you need help finding teams and starters then go here to.....
http://www.pro-football-reference.com/

On that site you will get all the info you need on the team you want to build and whether or not they made the playoffs and who they started.

Now comes the CAP Restrictions and team build guidelines (Created Players).

Here comes the meat and potatoes of the leauge and set it apart from past All Pro Football leagues.

For starters you will build a team of not 11 but 14 players. Let me explain.

After picking the 11 (at least 2 in game legends) you have substitutes 1 for Gold, 1 for Silver and 1 for Bronze. Since we will not be using a league server and will play games in the custom lobby. you have the opportunity to change your team (gold, silver and bronze) before every game.

For example you want to re-create the 1989 49ers but you have Lott, Rice and Montana at gold. Well you can start 2 and sit 1 before the game. No recreating players (already in the game) to fit a lower tier. Away team submits Starting lineups first on game day.

Also if the player is a created you can not change his "abilities". You may change your generic settings from game to game but the legend abilities for created players stay the same.

As for Created Players here is the main guidelines to follow.

1. You can only create players who are starters or special teams starters (kickers, primary kick returners) for the team that year.

2. A Gold created player either must be a 3 time First Team All Pro or have at least 8 Pro - Bowl seasons under his belt.

3. A Silver created player must have been a 2 time First Team All Pro or have at least 4 Pro -Bowl seasons under his belt.

4. A Bronze created player must have been 1 time First Team All Pro or have at least 2 Pro - Bowl seasons over his career. Or be a top 15 draft pick.

5. Gold created players only get a max of 3 abilities.

6. All created players must have a normal size build. Reguardless of position or weight. All Players have to be built off of a normal build.

1. Speed Burner
2. Strength Bonus
3. Quick Feet

No CREATED PLAYER of any type or position can have any 2 or 3 of these attributes together in any shape of form.

Also here are rules to player abilities. Player must have accomplished certain goals in order to get certain abilities.

1. Clutch - Must be a Superbowl MVP
2. Leadership - 2 time First team ALL PRO
3. Signal Stealer - 4 time first team ALL PRO
4. Breakaway Burst - Lead the League in Touchdowns (rushing or Receiving) 2 seasons.
5. No closing Speed.

Offensive Players CAP guidelines.

Quarterbacks - no cadence, no 4th quater comeback.

1. Quick Release - Must have lead the league in pass attempts for 2 seasons.

2. Laser Arm - Lead the league in Touchdown% 2 seasons

3. Rocket Arm - Lead the league in passing yards per game 2 seasons.

Running Backs - No scissor kick, no Finesse and Power combo.

1. Workhorse - Lead the league in Rushing attempts 2 seasons

2. Branching Tackles - Lead the league in yards per rush attempt 1 season.

3. If you choose the Power ability for the back then you can not pick another ability for that player. If you choose the Finesse ability for the back of your choice then you can not choose another ability for that player.

Receivers - No Route god.

1. Deep Threat and Possesion abilities can not be stacked on to 1 player.

Offensive Lineman - No StoneWall

1. Bulldozer and Brickwall abilities can not be stacked on to 1 player.

Defensive Abilities

A. Run Coverage
B. Pass Rush Bonus

Each of the abilities above can be added to any player on the field of your choice.

1. Coverage Bonus - Lead the team in Interceptions for that season.

2. Ball Hawk - Lead the NFL in interceptions for one season.

Tackle abilities can be added if another player on the team also has the ability.

That is all for player abilities on offense and defense.

Team Creation Playbooks

Also when team creation is done you will have to decide which 3 formations you will primarily use from the 20 to the 20. The 3 formations you will use will be whatever you want as long as it fits the starting discription of who that team started in the box score of any of it's playoff games. (This is why I requested the team must have made the playoffs)

For example - 1993 Houston Oilers ran the Run and Shoot offense. Their lone playoff game that year against the Cheifs, they started this offensive squad.
http://www.pro-football-reference.co...9401160oti.htm

Houston Oilers Starting Lineup

Warren Moon QB
Gary Brown RB
Haywood Jeffires WR
Gary Wellman WR
Curtis Duncan WR
Ernest Givins TE

Obviously Ernest Givins is not a tight end and was a wide receiver. So from the 20 to the 20 you can run 3 formations of 4 wide receiver sets on first and second down. However you can run whatever you want inside the 20 (Red zone and inside your own 20), on two minute drills at the end of halfs and on 3rd down.

Remember: Legends only (any and all). Wins are worth 3 points and losses are worth 1 point. One game per week is needed to not drop to the bottom of the standings, but isn't required to compete or anything. After 6 weeks we will have a tournament. Refer to the "APF Ladder Tourney Information Thread" for specific rules and information.

Note: Please direct any particular player gameplay issues to me via PM and try not to make them public immediately. I don't want a negative attitude in here.

Looking for your APF games to have a little more meaning? Looking for a place to link up with sim players, but not have to commit your time to any more than you want? Want to be in complete control of your team and who you play? Well this is the place for you!

Starting Monday, October 12th the OS APF Tourney Ladder begins!

Ladder Format
- Legends only. ALL legends are acceptable. Want Rice and Campbell? DO IT! Let's just enjoy the game.
- Difficulty = whatever you want.
- Any game length with a minimum of 5 minute quarters.
- Wins are worth 3 points
- Losses are worth 1 point. The system rewards involvement over pure W/L. If people really hate this we can just do straight up wins and losses.
- At the end of our "Ladder Season" we will have a playoff for the "Season Champion". I am thinking each season will last about 6 weeks, give or take.
- The "Season Tournament" will play off the top 7 teams (depends on involvement).

Rules - very minimal.. just make sure we don't do the blatantly cheating stuff.
- no FG block glitch
- no quick snapping - clear rule: wait for "down set" or until the QB actually gets under center and then can snap immediately. It is still quick, just not ridiculous.
- no low corner kickoffs. Directional kickoffs are fine, but none of that knuckleball to the corner junk
- no hot route corners to the wide side of the field. Everyone knows this is junk.
- no whining about gameplay or team builds.
- this is all for FUN! if it isn't fun don't do it.

That's already over 30 guys! It isn't supposed to be some kind of requirement... just something to play for and record for the fun of it. People shouldn't feel obligated to much, just know that less than 1 game/week will drop you to the bottom of the ladder... which is only fair.

In terms of HOW to set up and report games:

Just schedule a time, play it, and report it in the Official Ladder Games thread I will make on Monday, October 12th. Just post it and I'll keep tally on the 1st post of the leaderboard thread.

...

The season 1 ladder will close the morning of: Sunday, November 15th

The top 7 teams get in to the tournament. (Note: Credit goes to SMHawkeye for playoff format idea) The number one seed gets a bye. It is a single elimination tournament that follows the ladder format. Match up teams, I don't care. Just use legends and you're golden. I am going to put a time limit by which the game can be played that I haven't decided on yet. It will be lenient. I want the tourney to finish, but I don't want people who want to play their game to miss out due to time restraints.

The new season will immediately begin that Sunday, November 15th. Other users don't have to wait for the tournament to end. We can discuss any formatting changes that people would like to see. Personally, I think the first season is going well right now with the current format. It encourages people to play and it is really laid back...... and hopefully fun?!

...

Anyone who wants to join is very welcome to, just post your gamertag here so we know who to contact on XBL!

Open Ladder starts this upcoming Monday, October 12th (and it closes November 15th)!

ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL?!
