I've always played on hardcore, but I really have no idea what this actually does that's different from other settings... lately ive just been frustrated with this game, my AI teamates, their lack of movement, how the cpu manages to go tic tac around my defense every once in a while no matter what I do, they get all the loose pucks, etc

so on a whim i changed the CPU Aid setting to casual, and I played 2 games with it tonight and the game just seemed to play better

idk what it changes, and maybe it was a placebo effect, but I swear the game felt less "cheap" and my teamates even moved around better in the offensive zone and cycled better than i've ever seen them do it before

And when i first got this game i thought it was fun and okay to crush the CPU player's when they are skating up ice w/ the puck. But the more i watch i hockey i realize you can't just crush someone skating w/ the puck. But in the game these penalties never seem to get called on me (even w/ penalty sliders all maxed) ANd now after having the game for a while i would like to start playing the right way, by playing the puck first and not just checking everyone to death, but since it's "legal" to do those things in the game it's hard to not keep on doing it. I mean like in a basketball game that would never fly....if you just hit everyone dribbling the ball a foul would be called every single time...so i'm just wondering if most of you all play the "arcade" style, or if you try to play more realistic?...i guess i just feel as though i'm at a disadvantage if I just let him skate by me and then they end up scoring, i feel like well...i should have just knocked him down. i'm also wondering what makes hockey the exception to this rule? Growing up in Michigan, always been a bit of a hockey fan. I always have enjoyed playing the video game versions a bit, especially when I was in college and Blades of Steel seemed like the best thing ever (showing my age here, of course).

For some reason, though, the next-gen console experience for me never seemed to really include hockey. I stuck mostly with football, probably because I enjoy the short season and being able to do all the extra franchise things without too much work.

That all changed about a month ago when I finally decided to start, in earnest, a Red Wings franchise with my dusty copy of NHL 09.

I snagged some Pro sliders that seemed were well-regarded and away I went. I scored four on the Maple Laffs and was instantly hooked.

However, nearing the mid-season mark, I have been really a disaster. Despite the talented roster, I pretty much have anchored the basement in the West all year. I don't have a problem with losing a lot as I learn the game or if it's due to just being overmatched, but I'd have to think I'd be getting better by now.

The problem is, things seem to have gotten only much, much worse. I'm in the midst of a serious scoring drought. I think I've had only five goals over the last seven games. I wasn't burning out the lightbulbs in the goal light or anything, but I was scoring and keeping games close. Now I can't do anything and am giving up buckets of goals. If I wasn't the only person who plays on my console, I'd swear someone went in and jacked up my sliders.

So, I'm asking the community at large to take pity on an older gamer who could use a little help getting his Wings maybe not back to contender status, but at least threatening to get out of the basement at some point.

BTW, I have read the article on how to score in NHL 10.

One timers are almost impossible to execute now.

You might get a clean pass through the slot once or twice a game but that doesn't mean the shot isn't going to be a whiff or off the mark.

Using the goalie to deflect a shot and score has happened to me maybe twice in two and a half seasons, very rare.

Anyone have a strategy or slider setting (forecheck/defense/etc.) to mirror the user offense on PRO setting without compromising the AI offense on All-PRO? I think this is the price they should've put it out for originally considering how little content was actually included in the game.

The actual gameplay was pretty fun, but the options and modes of play are so limited that there's just no long term appeal unless you have people to play against locally.

This needs to be fixed, it puts people that actually want to play the game at a severe disadvantage especially if they don't want to grind out every stat boost requirement for everything they want to do.

How you may ask? Well, if you've ever played online in OTP or EASHL on either platform I'm sure you've seen someone with gold equiptment get the puck poked away (or should i say at) by a defender that's in perfect position and still either retains the puck or loses it for .1 of a mili second and retains the puck.

It needs to be fixed.

There are multiple solutions to this four of which are:
A - Tone down stats in general
B - Take away stat boosts in general
C - Take away buyable stat boosts so that you have to earn them
D - Add in a 'hardcore' EASHL league/OTP lobby for those of us that like authentic, not gold gear, santa hat hockey.
