The VBL4 is a branch off the large tree that is the Virtual Baseball League. Currently the VBL3 (run on FPS), VBL4 (OOTP 6.5) and VFL (FPS Football) are all active.

While we recognize the desire for OOTP 10 leagues, we prefer maintaining a rich league history.

The VBL4 began in 1980 (2005) and we are in the early stages of the off-season for the 1991 season.

I'm not the Commissioner (I am for VBL3), I'm just helping him out with promotion here but here are a few reasons why the VBL4 is for you if you enjoyed 6.5

A) Commish doesn't own a team.
---- This is the basic foundation of every VBL franchise. Our Commissioner in VBL4 has never, and will never be an owner of a franchise in his own league. He is able to remain impartial. This is something that I've found to be very rare in the OOTP or FPS world. Never will you wonder why the Commish's team is in 1st place, or why he seems to have a leg up on free agency or anything like that. I'm sure in most cases Commissioner's are fair, but there's always that doubt in other leagues. Not here.

B) Created teams
---- I'm not sure what it is about OOTP leagues that make Commish's force owners to keep MLB names and cities. This is a fun league, and it's meant to allow you to transform the team into your own mold. Not Brian Cashman's. My team is the Coronado Brown Boobies (actual bird in Coronado, CA) See how fun that is?

C) Active ownership
---- We have last 10 seasons in the VBL4, and we haven't slowed down. The owners are very competitive, in fact in some cases there are some serious rivalries brewing. We don't have down-times in terms of owner participation. If you're looking for active trading, strong competitive league, and consistent press releases then this is a good place to look. Oh, and we have a championship trophy.

D) League History
---- So many leagues out there decided to start over when OOTP 9 and 10 arrived. While we respect 9 and 10, the only way we'd ever convert is if it didn't effect the historical nature of our league. This isn't a game like Madden where we feel every year you just start over. You're here to build a championship and maintain your spot at the top of the mountain, not to start your franchise/progress over once a new OOTP comes out.

If you're interested you can visit www.virtualbaseball.org/vbl4 and shoot the Commish an e-mail at bsimpson1974@windstream.net

I imagine any open spots will be a first come first serve basis, but if you're on the Waiting List, you will receive constant updates as to your status and will not be forgotten!

Thanks for reading.

if you could have a shot to make your dream baseball game what would it be?? here is mine game modes and all.

Gameplay
Hitting

I would use some various aspects of hitting from the mvp baseball series and the mlb the show series. there would be no guess pitch feature or guess location feature. Simple either analog or button style batting would do fine. some may like the concept of a analog pull back type swing while others might like the normal Button swinging. all and all i would leave that to the user to decide. hitting would obviously be based on attributes and timing but also batter confidence. for an example if a player is in a slump he won't preform as well in the game until you can manage to get him out of that funk. this would be the basic controls for hitting

pitching
pitching would be on a button based concept. i honestly hate the whole analog pitching in 2k and i think the button with the pitching meter works great.

Baserunning
Take mlb 09 the shows baserunning with the exception of the Rtts mode thats what i would use.

Fielding
Same as always button fielding to throw to a certain base. and using the bumpers/triggers to dive and jump for balls.

Game modes

What could have been...

This would be my first feature. you start out with about 2 or 3 player stories that you get to choose from and guide that players career the way you wanted it from a certain point. for an example i pick ken griffey jr. and instead of signing with the reds i sign with the cubs or resign with the mariners. If i was kerry wood i would try to avoid getting injured. It's a rough concept but with some tuning i could see it being able to work

Carrer mode.

Basically RTTS with a little zest added to it. you can sign endorsement deals, hire agents. Every action that has to do with your player you can actually see. when you retire you answer questions from the press. so on and so on i think it would work

Franchise mode
mostly everything from Mlb 09 the show franchise mode but you are allowed to move your team to another state design a stadium kinda like what madden offers.

home run derby

I would have a homerun derby mode but i would include in with the franchise to thats about the only thing i like from 2k sports baseball games.

this is my ideal baseball game discuss away

So far my experience with Original Xbox games on the Xbox 360 has been great; both NFL 2K5 and NCAA Football 2006 are great games and receive a lot of playing time. I've been less than impressed with baseball games on the Xbox 360, with the only decent baseball experience coming from an arcade game (The Bigs 2). So I was wondering, out of the many backwards compatible games, which would be the best to pick up?

The list:
MLB Slugfest 2003/2004/Loaded 2
MVP Baseball 2003/2004
World Series Baseball 2k3
All-Star Baseball 2003/2005
ESPN Major League Baseball
High-Heat MLB 2004

Out of these, I've only played Slugfest 2003, All-Star 2003 and MVP 2004.

I think ESPN should give some college ball some exposure. Sunday is the rubber game, and it would be way more interesting than Billiards.

they can schedule their games so that they end right before Sunday night MLB Ball...instead of jumping on the CWS action.

I know Stew would approve of this.

It has taken six seasons, but the New York Yankees are finally back in the World Series. It seemed just as inevitable that Derek Jeter finally has another game with his name splattered all over it, Derek Jeter Real Baseball.

It has taken six seasons, but the New York Yankees are finally back in the World Series. It seemed just as inevitable that Derek Jeter finally has another game with his name splattered all over it, Derek Jeter Real Baseball.

I also just want to get this out of the way before we go any farther into this review: If you do not like Derek Jeter, Derek Jeter Real Baseball may not be the game for you. Just trust me, unless you are a glutton for punishment.

Developed and released by Gameloft, Derek Jeter Real Baseball is one part baseball sim and one part holy relic to the long-time captain of the Yankees. What Derek Jeter Real Baseball is not is a great game, but it also is not a terrible game.

For a $5 download on the iTunes App Store, you will get a baseball game with some annoying flaws. However, during those moments when there is nothing else to do, you will find that Derek Jeter Real Baseball is an adequate game to turn to when you want to cure bouts of boredom.
Just before the start of Game 3 on October 17,
a magnitude 6.9 earthquake struck, collapsing part
of the upper level on the Bay Bridge and the entire
Double Decker Cypress Structure on Interstate 880,
in Oakland, Ca. I grew up in Oakland and I was in
this earthquake, it was horrifying, but had the
World Series not been going on that day, there would
have been A LOT more fatalities because there would
have been a lot more motorists on these 2 structures.

I know a lot of guys, including me, could not find a way to play this game on Vista. Kvegas wanted me to find some of my files to forward to him and came up with this solution.

Go to SENDSPACE and download this zipped file.

http://www.sendspace.com/file/4c6r3j

Follow the instructions. To start the game do this....

START
MY COMPUTER
click on the CD ROM icon for High Heat
It will give you a window that says you must be the adminstrator to INSTALL this program. Click OK.

The installer window will open. Just click on PLAY HIGH HEAT and your done.

Now the file was supposedly done by Beanball, but I visited his site and he has NO downloads for HH2k4, so I emailed him. He said he did NOT do a mod for this, so I don't know why the READ ME gives him credit. Anyway, if anyone wants me to start posting modded files for downloading, just let me know.

If a mod here can close the other HH thread I started and merge it here, that would be fine.

So fellas, thanks to Kvegas, HH2k4 is NOT dead for Vista owners.

I posted a large SOUND file that I had (should include the Washington Nationals) on sendspace. If anyone has other requests let me know. I've got them all (the modded ones).
