Mine is a HDD from 06 but I tried also with a 20GB from a newer system with the same results.

You could try my method although I don't know if it will work..but it worked for me. I called and said that I wanted to be able to transfer movies and music onto my xbox 360 (20gb version) from my computer, and that I need the transfer cable to do so.They said they would ship it out and about 4 days later I got it. I didn't lie about having a HDD that I really didn't or anything..just simply said I have some things I want to transfer from my computer and that was that. Good luck cause the new rosters are where its at!

So I guess if you have a 20GB HDD you're SOL?

I'm having same problem as Stryker412...i think. Stryk, does this sound like your problem? I got a hdd transfer cable, and hooked up my xbox 360 20gb hard drive to my windows xp service pack 2 pc. It recognizes my xbox hd as a usb mass storage device, but has a problem with the hardware install. I see the device in my device manager, but it has the yellow exclamation point next to it. Do I need a special driver or something to see my 360 hard drive on a pc? Hell, I'll loan my cable out to whoever figures this out!

Actually you are further along then I am. I have the two USB devices listed when I plug in the transfer cable, however once I plug the HDD in nothing else happens. I don't get prompted for a driver nor does it show up in any form under device manager.

Well, we must be doing something wrong, since everyone else here says it works out of the box. I think we're missing a driver or software or something! Frustrating as all hell...
