NHL 13 Coaches

I'm thrilled with a lot of the stuff I'm reading, but one of the recent previews said "each coach will take that wherever he goes" in terms of strategy. Does that mean we finally get real coaches? Do we get to hire and fire coaches? Is this something EA can confirm? Thanks.

Even fake coaches with different strategies would be pretty cool, but I don't know why EA can't do what was in Madden literally like 5 years ago and put in the head coach, offensive coordinator, d coordinator, special teams, etc. It's just nice to see and adds a TON of realism to the game for hardcore Franchise Mode people.

I agree, this would be really cool. Even if they give us fake coaches, that's still okay in my book.

This really would be a great feature to have. Here's hoping there is something like this in the game.

I've wanted real coaches in the game for years. I don't know why they've never been put in.

Hopefully this is the year that changes.

I could have sworn they were the actual coaches in 07. At least it looked identical to Claude Julian the model they used.

Real coaches definitely were in at some point. They had likenesses of them, at least. But I mean full control over their contracts, extending them, having a certain style, it's just something that needs to be added.

I agree with you. I remember the Hawks having someone that looked super close to Trent Yawney on the bench. Glad those days are long gone!

how can coaches be included in BaGM mode? i was hoping it will be a different mode all in all. wherein you cannot really play the game, like in BGM, but instead doing strategies, designing plays, line matchups, line calls during the game, having player "feelings" about you based on how you manage line ups, superstars etc.

this way, if you're not doing good as a coach, you can be fired or be rewarded by a good contract. i would like to see the GM makes a bargain about salary.

From NHL 2004-07 (PS2/Xbox/Gamecube era) they had real coaches. However, you were unable to actually hire/fire said coach in the games.

They've had the features in the Madden series and the MVP series. I can't imagine it being a difficult task to have them in the NHL series.
