Great find Sinister!
I loved this part:
Quote:
- Fourth line grinders are strong on the puck. I know this because Mason Raymond would routinely bounce off of them when I tried to body check them. Conversely, superstars feel more like superstars. When I was in need of help, I would wait patiently for Claude Giroux to get on the ice because he could do more things at higher speeds than my other players. Basically this game makes different role players feel different from each other. One of my biggest issues with EA’s NHL games over the years has been the differential between superstar players and 4th liners. A lot of the time you can’t tell the difference between the players, skill wise. In NHL ’13, it felt like there was a bigger gap in the differing play styles. I want to HAVE to have the Sedins on the ice because of their elite puck control. I don’t want to have Dale Weise on the ice and not even notice he wasn’t Daniel Sedin.
I just hope the AI is tied to differential between player types.

Looks like we have the same old Stanley Cup celebration this year. Sigh.

After reading this interview. I will admit to being more nervous about the game than before. I will say it does have to be a little difficult to pump a game out every single year. Maybe they should do every other year and then just update the rosters in the in-between years.

It's more of a pseudo one year cycle. Not everything in this game was developed between last September and now, you can be sure that True Performance Skating has been at least 2 years in the making. Hockey IQ probably the same. They work year round on "NHL" and the features that can be ready in time make it into THIS years NHL. These "revolutionary" features aren't created in one year.

That's all I needed to hear

As soon as I get my $15 credit for purchasing Madden, it's NHL 13 preorder time.

Wasn't like I wouldn't have ordered it anyway.. who am I kidding?

Thanks for posting this! Yes, very good read.

Hearing that the difference between the players is more noticeable this year is very good news.

See and I pretty much agree with you, but it's also a thing with the NHL I'm sure as well. The NHL makes profit off of this game as well so they obviously want the game to be produced every year. I'm assuming it's part of the contract they sign with the NHL. Not 100% sure of this but I believe that's how it works.

I think this is a very astute post. I suspect they were hoping the skating changes would be a go for NHL12, hence the hype for the last big reveal (legends) being "it will change the way you play the game" which coincidentally was very similar to the tease for the first big reveal of this year.
